Suggestion: Bloodpoints? Weekly Bonus Bloodpoints for Perks and Killers
Suggestion: Weekly Bonus Bloodpoints for Perks and Killers
To promote variety and encourage players to explore different playstyles, I propose implementing weekly bonus Bloodpoint rewards for both perks and killers based on usage statistics and performance data. Here's how it would work:
1. Bonus Bloodpoints for Perks
Each week, perks would be grouped based on their overall usage rate, with bonuses awarded to the least-used perks. The bonuses would be as follows:
- Bottom 20% least-used perks:
Earn an additional +150% Bloodpoints
Encourage players to experiment with rarely chosen perks! - Next 20% of least-used perks:
Earn an additional +100% Bloodpoints
Perfect for those slightly underappreciated choices. - Next 10% of perks:
Earn an additional +50% Bloodpoints
A small incentive to keep these moderately used perks relevant. - Top 50% of perks (most used):
No bonus Bloodpoints.
Popular perks remain unchanged to maintain balance.
2. Bonus Bloodpoints for Killers
Killers would receive weekly bonus Bloodpoints based on their usage and kill rates, promoting diversity and helping underperforming killers shine. The bonuses would include:
- Bottom 10% least-used killers:
Earn an additional +100% Bloodpoints.
These killers deserve more love in the fog! - Bottom 10% killers with the lowest kill rates:
Earn an additional +100% Bloodpoints.
Help underpowered killers get their time in the spotlight.
Benefits
- Encourages variety: Players are incentivized to try new builds and killers, creating a richer gameplay experience.
- Supports balance: Highlights underused content and offers more data to assess the effectiveness of perks and killers.
- Rewards creativity: Players can enjoy experimenting with perks and killers they might otherwise overlook, with tangible rewards.
This system would refresh weekly, keeping the incentives dynamic and ensuring consistent engagement from the community. It’s a fun way to explore the lesser-seen corners of Dead by Daylight!

Your numbers are way too high, you would just end up with a playerbase who is non reactive to normal bps incentives.
But this COULD be a fun bonus mini event, like bloodrush, double xp or First Match of the Day Bonus XP.
During this event bHVR could offer 25% extra bps per perk which go unused. But the complicated part about this idea, is how and what do the menu look like to make this easier?
Is there a button that makes a selection available for us with the bonus?
Do we need to pick them out of the menu ourselves?

25% is just not enough incentive. The perk menu would look the same, just put a circle on the perks that have bp incentive. Green for perks with 150%, yellow for perks with 100% and red for perks with 50%. Perks that don't have incentive wouldn't have any circle. Same thing with killers.
They could also add it to the filter. We could use the filter to only show me what perks have incentive.0 -
I like the idea, how about implementing a weekly killer blood bonus. Each week 5 or so killers get bonus BP, same for flavor of the week survivors.

You clearly didn't read all of it, otherwise you would have noticed the bonus for killers is there too :) I just don't know how could a bp bonus for survivor work, they are just outfits.

With all the pitfalls associated with point incentives, I fail to see the justification for your incentive.
Temporary point incentives in games can drive short-term engagement but often lead to pitfalls such as burnout, perceived unfairness, and a drop in long-term retention once the event ends. They may devalue regular gameplay, inflate in-game economies, and create reliance on events for engagement, disrupting the core game experience.
Players who miss out on incentives might feel alienated, while overuse of such mechanics can foster a sense of manipulation, eroding trust. To avoid these issues, incentives should be balanced, inclusive, and spaced out, complementing the game's core progression while introducing lasting value to the experience.
I mean, bHVR could be argued to already be doing some of these right and others wrong, I just don't see how we are going to convince them of adding a new danger to their model, especially one that high.

Bro, don't chatgpt me, please. The justification is simple: meta perks win more games hence players tend to use the meta to win more, to incentivize players to use different perks we offer bloodpoints, more bps to the least used perks and so on.

Bro, how about you address the point being made, even if chatGPT has been used to make it better. Even more so, throwing with rocks while you live in a glass house seems unwise. So we are just gonna ignore all the pitfalls there could be with it and just dial it up? I don't think that is going to fly.

I'd like this to work, but given how 2v8 has been where even a 250-400% max bloodpoint incentive didn't really lead people to play survivor over killer, I think people's desire to have fun playing with the killers they like and/or the perks they like is going to far outrank a few more bloodpoints in most cases.

I was going to suggest something similar. Excellent idea 💡

It's not really "a few". That's why the bonus bp is that high. If you play with 4 of the bottom perks with you would get extra 150% per perk, which would be 600% just in perks, if you also play a bottom killer would be extra 100% then you could add bloody party streamers and it would be on 800% and if the survivors also bring bloody party streamers you could be looking to a potential 1200% or even more depending if killer has extra bps at the time you're playing it.
By my elementary math, a 1200% of 40k bps would be 480k, imagine that every game :)
On the other side, you could win more games easier with top killers and top perks for the usual amount of bps0 -
Yeah, but getting 3 hooks at most, 0 kills, teabagged at the exit gate, and told to uninstall in post-game chat because you're playing the worst killer and 4 worst perks in the game sounds like a lot of suffering just to get bloodpoints. I don't think enough people will be willing to make that choice to make this plan useful.

That's the thing… people don't HAVE TO, the incentive is there, they can get it if they WANT TO.
