So I'm forced to play a character the killer likes?
I've had a few matches where I was tunneled out and then look to see the killer is farming so I ask why? Simple I wasn't playing the character they like. Sorry I don't have telepathy to know you want me to play as Jill or Dwight. I had a match where three people joined as Steve same outfit and all I didn't play Steve because just wasn't in the mood to play him I get tunneled out and see the killer farming with them so I ask why? The respond your not Steve. So I'm confused why do I have to match with everyone else when I want to play a character I enjoy if I notice everyone else playing and RE character maybe I'll join in the fun but it's rare plus I enjoy playing my boy Jeff or Taurie since she's enjoyable perks aren't good but enjoyable.

Killer is not a hive mind and we all don't think like crazy people. Play who you want to play as.

Sometimes the opposite happens.
Earlier today I played a Skull Merchant game because I have not played her since the PTB when she got nerfed and I wanted to see if she was still fun for me.
However, I do not have a lot of experience with SM, and I just happened to get Garden of Joy... needless to say, I lost. Badly.
And the survivors were extremely toxic in the post game chat. I haven't received this level of toxicity since the Forever Freddy days. And that is saying something. All because they disliked the character.
And yes, we all know of Skull Merchant's reputation. But I didn't hold a 3 gen, I didn't tunnel anyone, I did not camp, I did not do anything to warrant toxicity and insults.
If they don't like the character, that is their problem, not mine. I am not toxic against every Wesker I see. That wouldn't be okay.

You can play whoever you want, there's no point trying to appease DBD players because if you play the way you normally do, you don't control whether they'll hardtunnel and BM you or not. Maybe they don't like your character, maybe they don't like your cosmetic, maybe they spilled their coffee this morning and their solution to how upset they feel is to hop on DBD, single someone out to tunnel and hit on hook, then farm with their teammates for fun.
Don't take it to heart.

I'm sorry you had to experience that. A lot of weird people play this game.
My advice: don't think too much about it. Thankfully most people dont play that way.

It's usually the opposite. The survivors are like, "It's not Freddy, Pig, or Ghost Face, so let's be toxic/rage quit." Or "The killer's tunneling, which they have to do to get kills in time. Let's be 'toxic' back." They're just looking for an excuse to be toxic or rage quit.

I've experienced that moreso in relation to the killer. Some players just have an allergic reaction to some killers which triggers an irrational response.
As survivor, I've only noted it when one has Object of Obsession and when that comes up in my randomizer I am fully aware of what is most likely to happen. Escaping those trials are the most rewarding, because they really want me dead (understandably!).

Bro I can't help you, I only ever tunnel people with bigoted usernames and people who really annoy me. You have to REALLY annoy me. I don't target specific Survivors, and I don't think most Killer players do either.
However… I do noticed people who pick certain characters tend to play like jerks. Steves for example? Either chill af or jerks in a full fourstack SWF with the NASTIEST item and perk combos imaginable, no in between. Aces? Kinda jerks. Sables and Mikaelas? Complainers.

Sometimes you’re bullied or mistreated for your character selection but there are also times where you’re treated fondly because of it, and there are yet still times where it makes no difference at all. Out of dozens of matches I’m sure this is probably the only one where a killer said anything like that to you. I wouldn’t sweat it in your situation.
