There´s too much aura reading on this game
Aura reading perks should have stopped a long time ago.
On both sides (specially killer side), there are just waaay too many aura reading options, not too mention some add-ons also provide it.
basically there are perks for anything that can provide aura reading.
hooking or unhooking, kicking gens, survs vaulting, survs breaking totems, healing, simply being injured, carrying survivors, completing gens, opening lockers, being the obsession, getting a good skill check, just starting the match, breaking pallets or walls, going to basement.
The amount of aura reading options is just too much, I don´t thing is healthy for the game, and it should have stayed the way it was a long time ago.

Auras destroyed the horror aspect of this game.

With how much stealthier survivors are playing, without aura reading, killers will end up in a 80% of the match searching for survivors.
As for survivors... I don't think they are should have any perks that reveals the killer's aura. They already have a TR (Terror Radius) both music and visual.
2 -
What else are perks supposed to do then? Do you want more regression perks? It is fairly obvious the devs are running out of perk ideas when they just slap a movemetspeed increase on perks despite not touching that for years, for good reasons, as well all saw with MFT.
3 -
Sorry to break it to you, but this game just has nothing to do with horror or surprise or what not after you have spend like 100 hours in it...
4 -
The amount of aura reading perks doesn't really matter too much, because killers only have 4 slots.
8 -
Yeah, you can nerf the killer's aura reading options, but then some other part of their kit is going to need to be buffed to compensate.

Killer mains love to say that only when it's convenient. As soon as we discuss balance and fairness it's all -"muh power role, killers supposed to be feared 'cause it's a ....horror game'
7 -
I don't think it has anything to do with the role you play, it is just mostly generally consensus.
2 -
I am not gonna play hide and seek. People really complain about aura when stacking more than 1 isn''t as good as the real meta.
0 -
Always felt that there should be a hardcore mode with no hud, red stain or aura's.
2 -
To be fair how often do you get properly scared in this game. I never saw this as much of a horror game. Maybe you get scared easily but I know me and others don't get scared by this game.

We always forget about general consensus as soon as we talk about fairness. Killers with a supposedly tremendous advantage in game because it's a horror game.
So, aura perks is like cheating. If killers have a big advantage why should they always know where survivors are?
4 -
This game is definitely missing a new game mode.

While it's true too many aura reading perks are making the game stale and we need more types of perks. Keep in mind, killer and survivors can only have 4 perks and no more than that.
But even with new types of perks etc, its honestly up to playerbase. They make new types of perks like teamwork perks, scourge hooks, boons. Some are just popular, others aren't. I just wish ppl would run all kinds of perks rather than meta ones, but it's their choice

Are you just making the argument on the base of the theme but not the mechanics? You do realise that does not make much sense right?
4 -
It doesn't make sense for one side to have a massive advantage in a PvP game.
Aura reading favors killers too much.
2 -
I don't really see how, so you need to elaborate.

I used to love the hide and seek nature of this game but now your literal position is revealed every few seconds... no wonder why some people love distortion. It's kinda funny how people are like "this game isn't horror after x hours"... Just because the horror theme died down for you doesn't mean I have to give up on what made me love this game...

I don't know how many hours you've spent in modern day DBD but you probably noticed that most games don't go on for longer than 10 minutes and survivors recently (about 6 years ago) discovered something, that is called "looping". If a killer has to spend a considerable amount of time just looking for survivors, then that is free gen progress and no pressure at all for the killer. Which is always a problem, because it leads to matches ending even quicker and less possibilities for the killer to win by hooks.
So the killer now has only 2 options. Give up, which as far as I am concerned is terrible, or win without going for many hooks (tunneling, slugging, camping, whatever works best). You can't get a hook in 60 seconds, if you need 30+ seconds to even find a survivor and when even that becomes impossible you cannot slow the survivors down enough to actually pose a threat. It also encourages the killer to play more defensive (camping hooks or 3 gens). This however is widely agreed upon to be pretty unfun.
The last time I've had survivors hide from me (really hide), it was one of the worst experiences I had ever had in this game. It was boring and nothing happened. They knew I was unable to track them, so they used this to minimise the interaction time with me. In a game where the only fun part is the interaction between killer and survivor, that is pretty horrible. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to face camp either, so I couldn't even force someone else out when I got a hook.
Killers always have a HUGE disadvantage, when they are not in chase. Survivors progress their objective at any given second. It doesn't matter, if you or the Dwight next to you don't sit on gens. Someone else does. For the killer that is not the case. They can't progress as long as they aren't after a survivor. This is what makes information in whatever form so important. If a killer can't play into their strengths and gen regression only works when they do (after downs / hooks), then how do you expect a killer to compete without info against survivors, who do not run into their face (99% of survivors)?

You seem to forget the fact that scratch marks are not working properly (I don't know if its a bug or intended but they changed). Then we have iron will so grunts of pain are not audible anymore etc etc.
There is just too much going on.
When talking about aura reading why not talking about windows or deja vue?
If youdont like aura reading then gen regression will have to arise again but if you don't like that either then what perks should killer run?
If you start to dictate killers what perks to use then survivors shouldn't be allowed to use their beloved second chance perks or meta builds.
Then we have the problem of people using filters to enhance their view of a map.
So in conclusion there is a lot of things to keep track on and in mind when it comes to perks and balancing.2 -
I full agree with this. Aura reading should be rare for how extremely powerful it is.
2 -
Looping destroyed the horror aspect of this game.
2 -
Aura reading favors killers too much.
How that works? Both sides have aura reading perks and I would say it's stronger for survivors.
Survivors can see gens, totems, windows, pallets, survivors, killer.
Most survivors would be screwed if you removed that from them.
3 -
Same for survivors...
Killers don't really have that many of them, at least not viable. Also Distortion and OoO exists...
Most killers use 1, max 2 info perks. Like what else are they supposed to use?
You have killers that simply don't care about chase perks, so only options are slowdown or information.
2 -
there are regular complaints over Distortion all the time.
But interesting thing is many of them are from other survivors... Neither side like distortion players.
I think i counted at least 11
I am pretty sure I would argue about viability with this number, but that's definitely lower number than I can get for survivors.
Simply because survivors have more different categories of information and they often have secondary effect.
But you didn't answer my question. You acted like killers are not able to play effectively without any information perks. What perks are they supposed to use?
Most killers need either 0, or 1 chase perk. That's 3-4 slots open.

Like Tinkerer, Bitter Murmur, Hex: Retribution, or Friends 'til the End?
Like aura reading for totems, generators, windows/pallets, then many for survivors and killer. They even have item for it.
Gen regression ?
im also not saying that aura perks should be gone for good, but in contrary to you, i do see killers with 4 information perks so it would be cool with some kind of limitation.
Lol, so you really prefer killer with 4 slowdown perks. That's funny...
I am pretty sure you are huge minority for this one.
I don't care about information perks, simply because most killers can't really act upon it properly. That's why you usually see those build usually only with Nurse, PH and Artist.

My opinion is, if they're going to have aura perks, killers and survivors should only be allowed to stack 2 or have an exhausted state

game was never about "true horror experience"
