Chucky's awful speed changes CANNOT be overstated. He feels TERRIBLE to play & needs to be reverted.

I'm a P100 Chucky, I've played him almost religiously after his release (alongside Pyramid Head and Demo, my beloveds), so I know his whole stuff clear as day. He's by far the most unique killer added to the game with his whole third person deal, not to mention the effort put into getting such a LEGENDARY horror icon is amazing.

But this nerf has stained his formerly fun gameplay kit.

_____

I could go with the Rat Poison nerf, for all I care straight-up delete that thing or change its effect entirely, he has far more versatile add-ons that aren't as busted anyway (and I personally never even used it, TV and Rope FTW).

I could go with all the nerfs from last PTB, they were understandable enough.

I could… kinda go with the window/pallet quick Scamper removal (It's a big shame that with it, the grunts and screams of Brad and Jennifer exclusively tied to that action were gone forever as well).

_____

But this one? This is not it. Specifically talking about his speed change at least. This is total overkill and has gone WAY too far.

This is not even a matter of not being oppressive or good enough with him as before. This isn't a matter of not getting as many kills, or any trivial and banal "competitive" aspect like that.

He just feels TERRIBLE now. He just goes for a quick, clunky-feeling, predictable casual jog now. And that clunkiness cannot be overstated enough, it's awful, straight-up awful.

I'm seriously considering not playing him as much now that he's in such a terrible-feeling spot. And that breaks my heart as a big Child's Play fan.

Hell, I was once super excited for the possible future skins he could have from throughout the franchise (Glen/Glenda and Old Chucky were my biggest wishes), but… I wouldn't really consider getting any more skins for a Killer that I don't enjoy playing now. And trust me, I've played him a lot to weigh-in on these new changes since they released this week.

This is not it.

_____

Please, seriously consider reverting the Speed part of his nerfs at least.

I hope the overwhelmingly negative reception to them helps to achieve this sooner rather than later.

With the recent hotfix patch, he'll sadly be in this state for a while

They did not reverted it. I lost all hope for this game.

Deserved nerf, soloq can't handle him, he is small, stealth on demand, have 3rd person to deal with most loops 8m/s is more than fair

I'm glad there will be fewer Chucky players now, I remember one day I played against 5 Chuckys in a row, it was so annoying

they need to revert it, it's so bad and apparently they have no plans from this screenshot it's absolutely ridiculous and pisses me off that they just dropped this without testing in a ptb early and now he's In awful state and they won't revert it us chucky players need to keep spreading the word it's ridiculous

It was probably a long time ago, because Chucky's pick rate was already low. It has dropped significanty since it's launch.

    Imaginary scenario:
BHVR made skill checks significantly harder. A killer mains response when someone raises his voice over it: "Thank god BHVR for making survivor gameplay more annoying and less fun, so there will be less survivors. What a great day!"

You can literally see his footsteps through walls and he laughs all the time while undetectable, even outside of just his power's undetectable.

    SanelyOsp Member Posts: 79

It's so infuriating, especially when it's such a huge nerf.

If they wanted to straight-up try these changes in Live, they should've at least made them gradual and not just plummet his speed to the abyss from one day to another.

Devs doing decent job mostly and now this… Why even bother at this point

Unironically saying this tells people how much you don't understand how terrible this change is. It's barely better than a pig dash now who is 115% and not 110% movement speed, has actual stealth on demand because a stealth where you constantly laugh to give away your position on a cooldown is not "on demand", while having 0 cooldown to her dash or stealth instead of a 14 second cooldown with a shorter charge up to go about .5m less distance alongside the best passive slowdown in the game is not "more than fair".

Friendly reminder that the Pig who is now objectively better than him is one of the weakest killers in the game. But please do tell us more about how this Chucky change is good because the absolute bottom of the barrel players don't know what to do against him.

  • Bence
    Bence Member Posts: 43

And that's the most sad thing. The character we all love getting destroyed because of these bottom of the barrel players crying about it in forums for ethernity instead of actualy leraning how to counter the character in less than an hour.

As a killer player I can just main one killer y'now, while as a surv I have to learn how to counter 30+killer, predict their addons too, that's too much for survivors especially for casuals\soloq players (apparently only killer mains whines here if u were soloq main you would be happy about this new change) so ofc we wanna similar tier killers not broken ones or super speedy killers that can't be counterplayed+thanks to their bad connection that speedy killers become even more busted like Chucky hitting from miles when I'm already behind a rock, that nerf on his speed was good, devs please keep it like that

  • SanelyOsp
    SanelyOsp Member Posts: 79

You can spin either side as too much to manage for the one you play if you just give a quick subjective comment about it.

One can also say that killers have to learn how to counter all the possibilities of perk combinations, items, add-ons and actual coordination of 4 different people vs. one person for each match, and say that's too much for them. Killers can also say they don't want survivors' ping to rob them of hits that should've hit, just as much as survivors can say they don't want hits that should've missed. And both are valid. Because it's so situational and subjective.

For the record, I'm not a main from either side. I play Survivor just as much as I play Killer. There's really no side that's benefitted the most. It's all so subjective, and it'll always be for an asymmetrical game. It's so tiresome to hear us vs. them debates where one side clearly hasn't ever touched the other, whichever one they're talking about (and I'm not talking about you directly, just to be clear).

Devs: There're things that can, and SHOULD, still be changed for both sides. There's a lot of room for improvement for both. You should nerf Blight and Nurse and give Pyramid Head an Add-On pass just as much as you should make Totems not lose the whole progress when you let go of them as survivor, and make the anti-camping bar show for the non-hooked survivors (((also please revert the Blast Mine universal sound, it was hilarious as hell to hear the killer be stunned from the other side of the map))).

There's lots of changes still to be done that would benefit the game as a whole. But this one definitely isn't one of them, it just makes Chucky clumsy as hell to play. Give him more cooldown, give him a smaller hitbox, I don't care. But the speed nerf makes him awkward as hell to be controlled, and THAT'S the actual problem, not his killrate, strength or any dumb reason like that. And the enormous negative response vs. very few comments should definitely tell you that.

Why do you want to see downfall of people's main they like that you don't find them fun against

Chucky didn't deserve his speed being reduced, there were better options and can be better for both sides and not being only one side

For strength at least in my opinion I could care less about how strong or weak Chucky is, what I care most is if he's fun to play, right now he's basically been current trickster/knight (global knight cooldown version) where he felt really bad to play

Chucky seriously needs to be reverted back given form the feedback from this forum due to how bad this changes was

  • Bence
    Bence Member Posts: 43

Exactly. The only thing more important than his strength is how fun he is, because most players will play a weak killer if he is fun to play.

I've played chucky for several hours after his changes and i think they are really not that bad, and i honestly think it has been overstated by the general community.

The change was likely made to address survivor feedback of chucky feeling like he gets guranteed hits. Therefore expecting a simple revert without any other change to take its place is unreasonable.

I also think too many people have not even given the changes a fair chance. Too many people went off first impressions from only reading them, or other people's experience.

It is slower, but after getting used to it i can still get loads of slice and dice hits.

I think "it feels bad" is too subjective of a reason to just instantly revert it.

I think BHVR should let the changes settle for at least a few months, to give players on both sides time to adjust.

I personally don't really like the ideas of alternative solutions, such as increasing the charge time. I think that would make him a lot weaker than what we have now.

He is fine and balanced to play against now, not broken and unfun anymore

  • Oputeeva
    Oputeeva Member Posts: 129

So true, I played him a few matches and he is not that bad, killer mains just didnt get used to it now, because they love killers who guaranteed 80% hits which 0 skill and brainoff gameplay, now Chucky needs some skills to get deserved hits, for me he was like current (buffed) Houndmaster where is you are guaranteed to get hits 80% of the time, now it's no longer free hits especially after a kicking pallets with brutal strength and instantly going for slice and dice with guaranteed hit

  • Bence
    Bence Member Posts: 43

Even if he was "broken and unfun", he still is, just for the other side now.

The change also didn't change the skill required to play him, it just rather lowers the skill to play against, wich was basicaly that new survivors had very slim chance, as running in a relatively straight line wasn't, and still isn't viable against him, and mid to high skill survivors had a decent chance countering him, as hiding behind an obsticle is basicly a garanteed dodge. The only thing that changed is the reaction time available for the survivors, wich only helps the later group, who already knew how to dodge him, aside the fact that he now feels terrible to play as (And yes, I tried it for 10+ hours, it's first hand experience).

Typical overreaction post over a nerf.

He went from 250% MS to 200% MS. Still slightly faster than an Oni.

Slice and Dice was overtuned. I agree he could be 9 m/s (225%) for 1.5 sec, but 250 % is just very hard to react to.

And some people say he is worse than Pig…

Pig is 172.5%, has to crouch, she stops while charging the attack while Chucky can still move. Survivor just have to leave the loop and she is countered lol.

Chucky is average tier now, but he is not too hard to master so it's deserved.

  • jasonq500
    jasonq500 Member Posts: 226

No, it isn't deserved, just because he's average doesn't mean there frustration about the character, look at trickster for instance, he has a really strong main event if played well, but lots of trickster players dislike his rework because he doesn't feel good to play and could say he was even weaker to his og state without main event

Even sadako my main back when 2.0 iteration exist she eventually got stronger, but the killer that I enjoyed was gone as she no longer feels the same to play

Whether or not Chucky is strong or weak, the point is that for how slow he feels, he just doesn't feel good to play nor fun at all unless you have a build

  • Adrien
    Adrien Member Posts: 96

Ok but that's very subjective, his 200% MS Slice and Dice doesn't feel sluggish for everyone, just the feeling of a -20% MS feels bad on the moment but eventually people will get used to it.

    Objectively he is still fast.

  • Bence
    Bence Member Posts: 43

Objectively, this change only affects 2 things:

    1) Survivors have WAY more reaction time, which is only useful to those who could already counter him (which is most players, but not the ones who keep crying about him)
    2) Makes him feel worse, unnaturaly, slow, and less fun

So it's only helps those who could already do very well against him (and mindless sprint bursters), so it doesn't help those who were asking for the change in the first place, while ruining the gameplay of those who play him.

I never had an issue going against him before not sure why people struggled even in my solo games he was usually stomped on
