Remove or separate post-game chat

I suggest to remove the post-game chat.
The thing is that it is practically useless. The only thing it is used for is insults to other players, most often, the opposing team. I once came across an argument that it is used by survivors who want to ask to join a party after the game. In that case, why not leave the chat only for survivors, so that the killer does not see it? Why would the killer communicate with survivors? To say GG? You can make a separate button for this! In 100+ hours, I have NEVER seen the chat used for anything other than insults. Most reports of insults, I am sure, are simply ignored, because I have never received a notification that someone was banned based on my report. All this results in a negative gaming experience, and a lack of desire to return to the game and recommend it to friends.

I got this idea from people in the Steam discussions, it's weird that no one has voiced it here yet, and I think it would help improve the gaming experience, make it less toxic. I hope at least the developers read the posts here.

I don't think they should remove it, I think they should make it a setting that's opt-in or opt-out, but also available on all platforms. And once you change the setting, you need to go to main menu for it to go into effect, it couldn't be changed mid game or at the post game screen. You want to see postgame chat on console and type with your controller back, sure go ahead. Also add an icon that shows whether or not this person has chat enabled to the post game screen. I'd personally opt out, it's a waste of energy.

I also wouldn't mind then if they added a separate ban from a game ban, which is a chat ban. Right now the only repercussion to being a huge ######### in chat is if you break some very specific rules regarding slurs or doxxing and get yourself game banned. But if all someone uses post game chat for is to be rude, mean, hurl insults, be passive aggressive and unpleasant, just chat ban them. They could still play the game all they wanted, but they just couldn't chat. Of course it would need to be manually reviewed if the system couldn't pick up some really clear evidence that the person was being awful.

I'd also add an option to remove the profanity filter completely, it's stupid and gets in the way and makes no sense in an 18+ game.

But I don't think they'll be changing post game chat in any way, ever. Only if there was massive community uproar, or controversies came from it.

You have the right idea. Most console killers play to win at all costs because theyve never even seen the complaints in the end game chat. And 90% of the time when the killer says gg first its mostly taken as an insult especially if any tunneling / teamslugging / facecamping / griefing was involved during the round. And more than enough times the people that are the victim of 5 gen tunneling or something, they will wait the whole match to say their piece to the killer even tho its more optimal to just go to the next que. I believe it would be better off removed. If the survivors wanna talk they can type in the lobby or discord. Part of what made dbd less frustrating im the early years is the rounds were quick. Killer found you, u get caught ur done, next trial. Somehow it didnt bother people that much to get killed off quickly. Now we have so many chances to keep going that it feels personal every time the killer just tries to get 1 person out faster for a much easier round.
