My Thoughts On The Game...

I really, really feel like my opinions on the game will probably not be taken well, at least on the forums, since I tend to be really direct and speak my mind on things, often in ways that people do not like. This probably wont be brief either.

Back in 2021, after coming back to the game after years of not playing, DBD was one of the most enjoyable games I had played up til that point. There was a lot to love and a lot to do, but I feel like overtime a lot of the aspects I have enjoyed has slowly been removed, nerfed, or changed to the point of being unrecognizable. I played both sides and I was eager to learn new things and try new things.

As time has gone on, however, I find myself really disliking the direction the game has gone, and I feel like it has reached to point to where I actually need to speak my mind.

SoloQ Survivors is (nearly) unplayable in its current state.

I honestly use to love SoloQ. Yes, I wouldnt get the best teammates all the time, but often the Killers sucked enough to where I could at least hold my own or push back enough to help me or my team into a win or into situations (like being chased) that I would at least find fun. Next thing ya know, MMR gets added, there is no time to goof around, do totems or search chests, there is no break from the action, no calming moments to ease suspense, and Survivor has overall become significantly more stressful and demanding. If you are not on a Generator, you a throwing the game, you will lose, there is no contest.

Furthermore, the way MMR is, Im given teammates that are really under-qualified for my skill level, because matchmaking focuses on speed over quality; leading to them having short chases, no Generator progress, most matches are just a lost cause with no hope of escape outside of Hatch but even it's hardly something to be hopeful for when most Killers just slug for the 4K anyways. Ive been keeping note (on a sheet of paper) how many games Ive lost and there is 74 game losing streak where the Killer got a 3K+ and I never escape a single game.

On top of that, it really does feel like BHVR is really trying to push Killers close and closer towards every Killer having an oppressive chase power which really removes a lot of the fun with chases, an aspect of the game I really enjoyed. None of this is to say that "I want a 5 Generator chase every game" since that would be further from the truth, the reality is that I just want chases it feel more fair instead of feeling like "oh well, I guess there was nothing I could do there".

While working on my 100% for DBD, Ive been working on Survivor achievements and it has outright been a miserable experience and I have outright disliked every second of it, and it is not burn-out in the sense of "Im tired of DBD" but it feels more of "I really just hate Survivor as a role and what it has become", the game has changed so much in so many different ways that I dislike or disagree with that Survivor is just something I cannot enjoy anymore.

This brings me to the way Killer is atm.

All the buffs and changes to Killer overall has made it feel a lot better, to the point to where I dont feel like it is the "stressful" role anymore. I can relax without worrying about my teammates or my objective, I can just turn my brain off and/or go for cool plays. Dare I say it, Killer is fun, to be fair I always enjoyed it, but it is the only fun I can have playing DBD now.

On top of that, with all the Killer power changes, additions, etc, I really do feel like there is a wider amount of diversity in playstyles to where I have more interesting things to actively engage with and learn. Overall there is just more there, there is more present than Survivor, and Ive reached to the point to where it is just outright more engaging to play.

Which all of this is kind of funny, I always proud myself as "the person who doesnt main a side" but unironically the game has changed so much that Ive slowed shifted into a "Killer main" since the Survivor role that I use to like has become miserable to play.

I really do hope BHVR looks into the state of SoloQ and works on improving it. Ill be shaving away at the rest of my achievements, it will be miserable but there is no point in waiting since who knows if the future will make things better or worse.

In regards to survivor you need to have at least 1 friend to play and/or talk with otherwise the survivor role is not worth playing at all.

3 it's 1 more than what I tolerate. Same as killer... Idk, the gameplay and game overall lately doesnt stand on it's owm.enough to justify me wasting my time on it... I at most play 2 matches on each side before wanting to go play something else, which I end up doing...

I feel like all they have to do is incorporate a voice chat feature and solo queue is complete.

I often let at least 1 survivor escape cuz this is insanely miserable.

I feel similarly. I played around 7 games with a duo yesterday and I could not have fun even though I was playing with a friend. Our solo teammates could not hold chase and did not do generators. I called it for the night after losing several “slug for the 4k” style matches where it was only me and my friend left.

I ran DS, shoulder, kindred, reassurance every game. It doesn’t matter how good my chases are, I can only guarantee one person is on gens, and if I sit on gens the randoms get two tapped. Not saying I’m entitled to win if half my team plays like they just bought the game, but man it was miserable.

If i get one bad match as killer, i know my next match will be better. And it's super rare i am getting 2 bad killer matches. My majority of killer matches are very chill and enjoyable. Even bad killers are winning majority of their matches.

But for survivor role? If you play one bad match, you need to just quit game. Because it does not matter how hard you try. You will get worse matches. Enjoyable survivor games are rare. I don't know when BHVR will realize they overbuffed killers.

I really wish I could force myself to play with your rule, too, but I tend to play until I get one satisfying match. Last night I played until after 2 am to get that and it didn't really feel as satisfying as it could have been due to feeling so tired and exhausted from the many, many bad matches before that. Now it was a Friday fortunately but imagine me playing DbD when the next day is a weekday … forcing myself to play until 2 am and getting up at 6 am to go to work. That's just not healthy.

Event mode is terrible unless I play as killer. As survivor I only get teammates throwing snowballs and messing around and running dumb stuff like Scene Partner while killers are maximally sweaty with 150+ ping and addons like Tombstone.

I am even less interested in staying in one-sided matches in the event than I am in regular matches. So when the killer is trying to get everyone dead by camping and tunneling hard at five gens I just run up and stand still and try to get hooked to get out of the match. I do throw snowskulls at them and I don't expect/want them to become friendly and spare me, I really want out of the match, but they could at least throw one back before they kill me for the event vibe.

I've had two killers farming the event mode, but that's boring as well. When I play the event as killer I do throw snowskulls as I run after the survivors and I do patrol gens as snowman but in the end I play "normally" and chase and hook without farming. That there is absolutely not a single one out there like me who plays the event a bit differently is pretty sad.

I've been playing since the last quarter of 2021. I only play on my own and solo queue is by far the worst it's ever been. Instead of an unenjoyable match now and then, it's got to the point it's nearly every game.

Call of Brine, Eruption, Overcharge 3 gen meta was more enjoyable on the whole than solo queue survivor at the moment. If I'd have known then I'd be saying this 2 years later, but I'd have thought I'd have lost my mind!

I've always been a big critic of people killing themselves and therefore making the entire game a waste of time for everyone else, but it's getting to the stage where I get it. Which is another thing I never thought I'd say!

What has caused the game to get to this? Hard to say. Weaker survivors can no longer hide with distortion,? Maps are smaller and seem to have a lot of dead space? People's mentality has been split by playing 2v8 and more dual queues due to constant stream of events with questionable feeling MMR? The Mori the last survivor base kit change? I don't even know.

Solo queue in theory was made stronger by the HUD updates but it's never felt worse than it is now.

I don't feel like I'm in any position to complain about "bad" teammates (especially not in the event mode, when I'm not taking things all that seriously and I do want to throw a couple snowballs at my teammates). I'm not good at Survivor. So long as everyone is still trying, I'll force myself to stay in a match for as long as I can. But my frustration level hits the limit real quick when the skill gap and sweat level of my team Vs my opponent is so cartoonishly wide. I just cannot continue playing after a certain point.

I do like to balance silly event stuff with playing a mostly normal game of DBD for the most part, but it feels like the rest of the lobby isn't often on the same page. Today I was getting hard tunnelled out at 4 gens by a back to the hook Wesker who had clearly only joined the event queue to try as hard as possible. So off the hook I run straight to a pile of snowballs to chuck in his face to see if I could maybe get him to leave me alone for a bit and so I could earn some BP from the party streamers I had brought. Nope! No dice. He paused for about three seconds before downing me again and dumping me out of the game. So yeah, that was the end of my Survivor games for the day. Fun.

Honestly this. Survivor is so much chiller and fun if you have even one person to shoot the ######### with while whatever else is happening. Even in solo queue, I sometimes get in a call with my buddies and just chit chat. It can make a world of difference.

And the game that completely finishes me off playing survivor until this event ends. After an insane increase in slugging and crawling around on the ground today, last game of the night I get a full 4 minute bleed out after everyone else is dead.

It was against a Singularity. A bot was hooked (shock, someone dc'd as soon as they got a first hook), I got slugged out and he goes searching for the last survivor. They die quickly and he comes back to me and instead of just ending the game, then just walks off and wanders around the map until the full 4 minutes is up breaking downed pallets and spamming bio pods everywhere. What on earth is the point?

I'm going back onto The Witcher 3 and actually having some fun exploring the land and killing monsters because in solo queue there just isn't anything to be gained from playing DBD solo queue at the moment. The game has completely gone off a cliff quality wise the past two weeks or so.

I'm actually having the opposite experience to OP - My survivors games are always largely fine but playing as killer is mostly stressful AF. I'd say i've always been at a 80-20 split in favour of survivor but have been leaning more into the killer role recently for the extra BPs. I feel like the overall quality of my matches has went down since the introduction of MMR though.

Gens could take 5 minutes each and killers would still bring gen slowdown.
