The Twins rework was a failure, but does that mean the Devs are done with The Twins?

They received some nice QoL changes, they are not a bad killer by any means, but there are still quite a lot of issues with their design (slug heavy playstyle) and still a few bugs, I wonder if the devs will take a second look at them or are we stuck with the current version of The Twins?

I doubt they'll go back to them for another while tbh. They should literally just improve Viktors tracking abilities and make him latch on to both injured AND downed survivors to prevent slug spamming. That would get rid of the worst of the slugging issue. I always hate going against this killer

They will probably stay like they are for quite some while.

I would not expect Twins to get much attention and certainly no buffs. I think BHVR knows they are very unpopular and their ideal play style is absolutely miserable to verse, so they no doubt have very high win rates due to giving up/DC's.

The problem is their design and beyond a complete ground up rework, there isn't much BHVR can do other than make sure nobody wants to play Twins. I don't think Twins sells too many cosmetics for BHVR either so they have little motivation to put hundreds staff hours into a rework.

The less I see Twins the better tbh, so I don't mind them staying kinda buggy either

I doubt they get any more changes for a while after what happened last spring

yeah they're done. they tried to remove slugging from the game and failed.

Doubt they're done. I think they take awhile to address things because they have a long term plan for upcoming changes but limited bandwidth for updates. So if something doesn't work out then it goes to the back of the line

nothing wrong with a killer being a good slugger

There is from a survivor perspective, it creates an incredibly unfun game play experience for 4 out of the 5 players in a match and when that happens, it is a problem.

I think (hope) that the devs will tackle slugging (ideally by reworking the Finisher Mori and/or give basekit workarounds to team-slugging/slugging for the 4k) and THEN will eventually come back to Twins

Twins's reputation and, to some extent, their high killrate, are directly tied to their ability to slug multiple Survivors (which greatly enhances the amount of people giving up out of boredom). Short of a complete power redesign there's really no way to "fix" Twin without first tackling slugging.

One of the main reason why Twins wasn't "Skull Merchant'ed" into oblivion is because Twins's pickrate is already abysmal and doesn't add any substantial amount of "fake stats".

What if they just made it so Victor couldn’t down you but only injury you? I think that would help the slugging issues.

I think Twain is fun to play as but the cooldown for Victor is way too long in my opinion.

@Pulsar had mentioned in the ptb - after 2 years bhvr saying they would rework twins but merely what happened was a disappointing numbers change.

I doubt they'll go for another change. All they needed was number tweaks and that's what they got.

I always wanted Twins to be more like they are in their teaser trailer, but that probably ain't gonna happen. So instead I'm gonna type up a hope and a dream.

Upon pouncing onto a healthy Survivor, Victor would begin scratching them and apply the Incapacitated status effect. If not removed in time Victor will pin them to the ground.

When pinned, the Survivor is met with occasional skill checks to shake him off. Once he's removed the Survivor is affected by Deep Wounds. If not removed in time, the Survivor is put into the Dying State and is brought back to Charlotte. Any time a Survivor is pinned by Victor, Charlotte gains 10% Haste for as long as that Survivor is pinned.

(The following is not necessarily from the trailer, but I think it'd be neat)

New ability: A 2nd Pair of Eyes

While Victor is binded to Charlotte, any Survivor within direct line of sight will be revealed by Killer Instinct for a moment.

Not much thought put into this other than trying to fix the slugging problem, as well as the hostage problem.

They would become just a worse Legion if that was the case tho

You think so? It's not a deep would affect though. Just an injury. At least it wouldnt be a mend simulator and I think it beats being slugged in my humble opinion.

The problem with twins is that they are picked so little that people can't learn to play against them

It took me multiple games against them to understand when and when not you are supposed to kidnap victor, and I still roll my eyes when a survivor instantly kills victor while I'm in chase.

I hope they find a way to increase how much they're picked, since I believe the slugging is partly an "I can't learn to play against them issue"

so, why should i play Twins instead of Legion in your example?

  • MechWarrior3

I suggested to make it so victor only injures. It would make slugging less annoying. Victor can still hold onto a survivor - They cant work on a gen or heal in this state. Increase the recall time so you can have him more often.

Im thinking about picking up Twins again. I bought Charlotte's flower dress with Iri shards last night.

Oh, not in the sence of playing against them, that would be a cake walk if Victor could only injure.

I meant in the sense of their power, Legion would do everything better than the Twins if Victor could only injure (Legion has better tracking to injure more survivors, can vault pallets and windows faster, pretty much a guaranteed hit, unlike with Victor, whom is pretty inconsistent at all of those), yes it would fix the slugging issue, but it would make The Twins pretty much obsolete and really unfun to play as.

Once Victor is attached, you're just a basic m1 Killer without a chase ability, the only thing you could theorethically do with your version of the Twins is to use Victor for blocking doorways for injured Survivors to maybe down them, which isn't that thrilling of a gameplay choice tbh.

That's fair. I know this isn't a popular opinion for people but I would mind Victor being Ai. Moving on his own throughout the trial.

Yeah, they need some serious nerfs already, you right. I still find it hilarious that a borderline S tier killer ended up getting straight buffs simply because of low pickrate.

  • AhoyWolf
    AhoyWolf Member Posts: 4,418

Nah, not nerfs, a proper well thought out rework that adresses the skill floor of the twins and the slugging issue, they tried the latter and it failed quite a lot, bcs they obviously didn't consult the change with anyone.

I wish Victor was an actuall proper killer and not just a remote Demo shred (code-wise), so you could use perks with him, obviously he would need to be adjusted if this was the case haha

I hope twins does get reworked again. It wasnt a good rework at all. The Devs have A LOT of work to do when it comes to the killer roster.
