This Freddy rework is literally old Freddy?!
Let me explain
Now that both powers grant you sleeping progress, the ability to forcefully pull survivors into the dream world is back, with a skill-curve
Now that paint brush reveals auras of survivors outside 32 meters in the dream world(your terror radius) his info is back
The only difference is the lullaby and the tr are swapped, and he has more lethality, but less stealth, survivors have more ways of getting out of the dream world, and more ways of getting punished in said dream world

I don't think so, tbh. The gameplay loop is vastly different.
Old Freddy was unique when compared to the others. He had something that no other killer had, and at this point I'm guessing that no other killer ever will: the sleep mechanic. The whole point of Freddy is that you pulled survivors into the Dream World in order to interact with them. If they weren't asleep, they could not even see you. The gameplay loop consisted of pulling people to sleep and using your abilities to control the map.
That isn't the case for post-rework Freddy, even after these changes. His individual abilities might be stronger now, but the gameplay loop remains the same: traps and the occasional teleport. He is more similar to other killers than to his original version. And, honestly speaking, I do not like that at all.

This rework is boring. I feel for you for patiently waiting for this update only to be led with disappointment.

Honestly, after 5 years, I expected a lot more.

I think you should give him a shot, since he has a lot of aspects old Freddy had, even if he still interacts with you outside of the dream world

We still haven't seen the new mechanics in play in the PTB, so you should still have some hope left

I’m sorry. I was hoping he would be what you wanted but instead he’s become the best at stomping SoloQ players. His teleport to healing Survivors in the dreamworld is going to be so miserable if you’re not in a SWF 😭😭😭

It's another Pinhead situation. They got to stop making soloq stomping killers or reworks. These killer will be absolute worst against SWF or comms teams.

i think he's going to be weaker because no one will be in dream world. It's like old singular EMP situation where counter to getting out of dream world is too easy. VS bad players, they won't use the counter so he will dominate.
freddy needs buff vs good players but they gave him buffs vs bad players and nerfed him for skilled killer players. Not being able cancel his TP is bad. No one being in dream world is bad and than your promoting slugging to get use out of his new TP power onto healed survivors AND your forcing killer player to use iri add-on for dream world to do anything.

On the PTB I will, my friend, absolutely. I am still planning to experience and analyze every aspect of these changes if I can.
However, if that is truly the direction they are going with Freddy, then there is a good chance I'll drop him after this.
Thank you, my dear friend, but unfortunately it doesn't seem like there was a chance of me getting what I truly wanted.
It is a fix, I would say. The only way to make his post-rework power work without making it as overpowered as it originally was.
It is an effective fix, but done in the wrong direction. I really don't like it.

Dont forget that hitting the survivors also put them into dream, not only by default or with the new Dream Snare for awake survivors.
2 things will be missed:- Faking Teleports (but maybe it will come into live again)
- Using Snares as Anti-Loop (when they move, you cant use them as trap at the edge of a loop)
- → but maybe your manual interaction will make it far more interesting. We will see
Also: We dont know all the new addons and tbh - every single addon will be an upgrade to the current ones.

they're promoting to use snares to put survivors asleep to counter their bad changes of making everyone be awake for free. it's hilarious that they say that "using alarm clocks" is frustrating for survivor.

The thing that I really dislike is they're removed one of the aspects of his kit I enjoyed the most - faking teleports - for an aoe pallet bomb? Literally all we wanted was old freddy with the tp and a couple of buffs; we don't need him to be op but he was unique and he was fun

There are far more examples of terrible reworks than good ones. That's the point I'm making.

knight has 30 second cooldown for using assassin, 25 for carnifex, 20 for jailer when he had like 5 second cooldown before. He also didn't have 2x faster guard disappearing rate or 10 meter restriction. he was better before without restrictions. Old singular had 5% soma photo haste. new one is only 3%.
billy rework got straight buffs.

Sadako 2.0, current trickster, twins ptb rework, like there are plenty of other killers that were reworked that were heavily disliked
Like yeah the other changes were great but you have to understood why people don't trust bhvr in changes sometimes

Yes, you're right, my friend.
I believe they will change it so that you can still fake the teleport, because this change just feels odd. But all of this effort to make a power, that was never healthy or good for the game, work.
When Billy and Sadako got their changes, there was a concern with the players who loved their previous versions, and an effort was made to bring back what people loved about those killers. What makes Freddy different? His original version could have been easily fixed. Why insist on the post-rework stuff?

I don't think I would put Sadako there. She's in a terrible state and the only thing keeping her out of F-tier next to Trapper, Myers, Freddy and Merchant is that her teleport is instant. Everything else about her is awful.

I dont think you guys understand, old freedy was never going to come back. he never will, because he just cant work.
How do you balance a killer who littrely cant do anything? He cant stop hooks, gens, gates, totems, ect, because of how long it took for them to fall asleep.

Well, I only put Sadako there because they wanted to bring back aspects of her original power that people liked. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean her rework was good.

By applying the Incapacitated status effect during the Dream Transition.

Seems like a very vanilla rework. He's stronger than he is now which is a plus of course. But I was hoping they would make him feel more like Freddy Krueger and make some cool alterations to his power instead of just buffing the existing kit.
That's one of the cool things about playing licensed killers. It captures the feel of the character. Makes you feel like you are them. They've never captured Freddy's essence in my opinion. The closest they came was his original iteration.
Still looking forward to seeing what he's like on the PTB. The teleporting to healing survivors sounds like a pain to go against. I can see a lot of sloppy, coulrophobia, no quarter builds being run on him.

no they'll just spam 45 second clocks with no downsides with 30 second pause sleep timer+60 second to wake up. It will be like old Singularity Emp situation. if everyone is awake, you can heal up.

Yay for making Freddy stronger? However, another rework that went into the wrong direction. It’s disappointing truly. Sadako, Freddy, Skull Merchant, Trickster, twins all suffer the same fate.

singularity is much better got a lot of great qol updates. It maybe only 3% but it’s basekit and free
Knights clunkiness is gone and can actually choose his guards instead of being stuck in a cycle
Both were heavily improved

A bit unrelated but I wonder what the new dream world effect will look like. There were mentions it was given a makeover and that's quickly becoming one of the parts of this rework I wanna see most.

Wraith, Billy, Doc, Hag, Bubba, clown, legion, Ghostface, knight, singularity,
All got reworks that were for the better and made them all better

Yeah, the killer instinct is really not necessary especially for how hard it is to coordinate and heal other people in solo-queue.
I never played against old Freddy as I didn't play back then, but I'm glad he can swap between pallet and snare at least. It provides more utility than having to use an add-on for a worse power as I preferred using snares as it slowed down survivors during looping.
I would have to see how the dream pallet injuring survivors buff plays out, unless they make them more noticeable. It sounds like survivors won't even be able to destroy one if they see Freddy put one up, as the survivor will be injuring themselves. I think with this change, SWF will be able to have a person injured and can just follow the Freddy to drop fake pallets — similar to Bloody Coil and Trapper.

Freddy will be stronger, this update fixes all problems he has but he is still very boring killer. Original Freddy power was more fun and unique. I don't know why they did not back to this design.
