The casual player has no incentives anymore
I love this game, the fact that the devs have keep up with updates and new content is exactly how to keep this game relevant. Sadly this new ranking system is broken and yes I know that ranking up usually dose not matter but to a casual player it does. Ranking up is bragging rights when playing with friends or just a accomplishment for the few games you get to play each night. I know this may sound ridiculous to some people but the incentive to play for most casual players is to rank up either as killer or survivor, when you cant even pip to rank up because you lack the skills to accomplish everything at once (saving, doing gens, being chased, healing and breaking todems) your ultimately punished because your style of play is to do exactly your role and survive by staying hidden and doing gens. Sure occasionally you do a save and heal people but even that Grant's you no pip.
Out of 10 games I de piped 4x usually due to a DC and my team falling apart (1 or 2 if those games I did escape via hatch). I safely piped 5x and gained 1 pip 1x. There is no incentive anymore and frankly I now just play because I love the game and skip over wether or not I piped. People who play this game 5 or more hours a day may be able to rank up but sadly the people who can play a few hours will be doomed to live in lower ranks with baby killers and may one day rank up to a challenge but because of this new system a baby killer will get gen rushed and we will still not pip and will get that safety pip to be forever stuck where we are.
But hey! That's just my own opinion on this new ranking system and I will still be out there playing.

Another reason to change Rank System so that it's based on hours played instead of "skill"

Hours played isn't a rank system and is definitely not accurate for matching.

The problem I'm trying to point out is that if your stuck in lower ranks and you gen rush the killer you are now forever stuck because the killer lacks the skill to avoid being gen rushed. Now because of this they may have not downed anyone or even hit someone so there goes that emblem. You never get chased so there goes that. You may get 3 gens and escape untouched so you get those emblems, and now you just safety piped.

It totally is, if you are bad at the game after playing 1000h you are trash.
Why the hell do I need to do a gen if I want to rank up? Holding M1 determinates my skill? The time I spend in this game determinates my skill. After 1000h played you should know every trick in the game.
Also, what does rank even do? It just serves the purpose of playing against/with people of the same rank.
I would understand this Rank System we currently have if it rewarded you with something but you get nothing from ranking up, just playing with more experienced people (those who dont de-rank on purpose to face newbies).

Something that would never happen if you were facing a guy with 1000+ hours played...

Not everyone plays both sides well, I have over 1000 hours in game but mostly as survivor and as a killer I rarely get a 4k because i lack the skill to catch survivors even though they are looping me exactly as I would if I was them. So hours played is not a great way of determining skill unless its divided up based off which side you play.

Obviously you didn't read anything that I wrote, the incentive for ranking up as a casual player is feeling as if you accomplish something, or bragging to your friends when you play with them.

But doesnt the feeling of accomplishment and bragging contradict being a casual player? Im a casual player. I literally have played over 200+ hours and am rank 15 and I dont care about that because im gonna do what I want even if it's a poor move.

I don't even pay attention my friend's rank when I play with them, what bragging right you get when you are R1?
The only time I pay attention to their rank is to say "oh, you are R1 now? Great! the distraction role is on you now, go keep the killer busy". No praise for doing the job right but absolutely get to laugh at them if they go down fast.

Helping killers get 4k should be incentive enough for you to play

I do my part of the whole dieing thing....

CASUAL!?

I though people would assume that It should be divided, the playstyle is just too diferent if you change from survivor to killer and vice versa.

I'm a casual player and I don't care about Rank.........400+ hours.
To each their own I suppose.

I see the original posts point. You literally are forced to use yourself as bait to get chaser points over and over again if you want to move ranks. Survival isn't needed and it should be a priority.
You have to mix up your game and make sure you are always doing something. If you max out a scoring category you should find the killer and get his attention. Sounds stupid but it's whats needed to get the better scores.

Ever heard of smurf accounts? Would make it even easier to bully newbies, cuz it takes at least 100 hrs to get decent on one side. So you can 200hrs straight up bully players without even carrying about deranking, after that just create a new smurf account and the bully starts all over again lol

The casual player? Well, I'm a casual player, and I've never given a single damn about Rank or Pips. As a casual, when I play DbD, I play it to be my favorite Killer (such as Myers) or to chase survivors and drive them crazy as Doctor. I play to get bloodpoints, and get goodies from the bloodweb. I don't even care about the current perk-meta. I play for fun.
Having fun and getting some bloodpoints is all the incentive I've ever needed to click "Play" on DbD.
If I want to care about rank, I play Overwatch Competitive mode, where playing for rank actually makes sense. If I just want to chill, have fun, and relax a little, I play DbD or maybe Apex Legends.
