Make an actual point of using that one survivor you chose to play.

Currently, playing survivor character has no point unless you really like that character imo. For killer, even if you run the same exact perk build, you have different kits like each killer's power and addons to mix up the gameplay experience. But survivors has nothing to differentiate each other, thus makes the role monotonous within a couple of games, unless you come up with really fun/unique builds. But even that it doesn't feel special of using the characters because its all the same experience. For killer, using each of their power makes a clear point and makes them special. But survivors has nothing but their items and the 4 perk slots.

My suggestion is to make a 5th perk slot as a passive skill for the survivor you play. This perk slot can only equip their own unique perk slot.
For example, if you play as meg, you can only equip either Sprint burst, Adrenalin or Quick and quiet, along with the normal 4 perks. This mechanic will create more creativity and a degree of freedom when making a build and the main point of this discussion, a point of using that character.

Important note: Even with this idea I think its not enough because my original idea is to make a all 3 unique perks for each survivors to bacome like a passive skill along with the 4 perk slots, but that will make the game too survivor sided so this more like a compromise solution for now. Maybe implementing the original idea to killers could as well be a thing, but the balance of the 3 perks that each killers/survivor has are night and day. Some has too stong or a decent to high usage (i.e. Pinhead, Artist, Zarina, Jill, Nea, etc), to Niche (i.e. Wesker, nurse, Ellen, Ada, etc) or too weak (Wraith, Huntress, Ace, Ash, Elodie, etc), so either way, almost all both sides perks needs a change whether its a buff, nerf, or a complete rework to make this happen. I have some change ideas for every perks but it'll take a ton of patchs and time. Big changes makes the gameplay fresh and incentivise to play the game but a double-edge sword.

I would prefer to not have to learn 40+ new powers with an entire meta arising around which survivors have ones that do anything and which survivors have ones that are useless.

The survivors being mostly cosmetic is totally fine. We don't need a layer of complexity for them.

More reasons to lobby dodge at the idea of 4 meta Yui in a lobby.

Quick question: why a 5th slot? Can't one of the four be made into the ‘character’ slot?

    1. If making 1 of 4 perk slots into that, it will have less freedom to both sides build, especially for survivors. The idea is to make each survivor have a power like when playing killer.
    2. Even if we make that rule ourselves, how many people will follow it when they can use 4 meta perks that doesn't even belong to the either sides character playing?
    3. If this somehow miraculously comes real, you'll see some specific characters stack which I feel iffy about it.

I've always liked the idea of getting some value out of the Charms, tailored to the surv being run. Claudette gains like +0.5% to healing, Nea runs 0.75% faster, Meg vaults 0.5% quicker, very small bonuses that are not game breaking.

Numbers can be tweaked of course.

We did see the mess of a balancing that the perks are and you think we need more "perks" to make it even harder to balance? I can already see that some random super weak perk like idk... pebble(?) is the strongest all of the sudden and it just will be annoying xD

Sounds like a good way to only ever see a single survivor because they have the best self perks. Also, survivors really don't need to have the ability to equip more perks.

Re 1: Currently the Survivor team has 16 total perks in the game and the Killer team has 4. A 5th slot would be a ratio of 20 to 4, so I don't see how that would be a disadvantage for the Survivor team.

Regarding 2: My thought was not that the survivors do this voluntarily with the one character slot, but that the allocation criteria on the part of the game are that 3 slots can be freely allocated and one slot only has the three perks of the individual character to choose from. However, these could of course be a little stronger than before so that they become more important, as a good deal of versatility is lost here.
Although, of course, it has to be considered how much stronger they are, as the balancing of some perks is quickly ruined here.

Unlikely to ever happen, but the DBD developers really need to have someone balance every sound in the game. People are more likely to play Feng than Jeff because Feng has a smaller hitbox and is much quieter than Jeff. Players should not be ranking survivors into a meta based on how small and quiet they are. Players should just choose a survivor.

No, players should be free to play any survivor they want, it would be highly annoying if some survivor character meta is created.

It's bad enough they are not equal by size and sound.
