Really depends on changes from PTB.
Mostly not, because he should be just very average killer with nothing new in terms of gameplay. But I glad to see these changes anyway.

When does he release? I like freddy. An updated freddy is nice. I still hate to see that it didnt go in the direction that GeneralV was hoping for. I know he is extremely disappointed.

They are really alergic to his og power for some reason, even though it would be a great foundation to start from.

I am somewhat excited but nervous about changes from PTB to live. I'm also worried that whilst he's not particularly strong he will be extremely consistent to where his kill rate will be very high and they end up gutting him like before 😭

teleporting to dream survivors who healing is gonna be diabolical in low ranks even if they get rid the slug aspect. expecting high kill rates. Overall freddy look okay though but new players will definitely be overwhelmed

The new players just have to learn. After a couple times they will realize they shouldnt in the dream world, if they do they better make it quick. I am sure they will update the tips and hints on the loading screen too when he releases back to live.

Yeah they will learn after a few matches maybe. Than again lower players still heal against legion the whole match. Just gotta see i guess
Hopefully behavior don't fall into the trap of nerfing frrddy off kill rates. They should expect them to be quite high at the bottom

Its the same with Sadako. She only has a high kill rate because she literally destroys newb lobbies. Anything else with somewhat half decent survivors and she is going to struggle. Not saying she can't take on a tough crowd but you better know your stuff with her.
Definitely needs some tweaking.

Not really no. I was hoping for a overhaul of his power into something more interesting. Instead they just pretty much made buffs to his existing kit with a couple of gimmicks thrown in like the exploding pallets.

Not really. I'm expecting him to be okay for a week or two and then absolutely gutted and left that way for years.

It depends on the changes we will get from PTB to live, but overall, I am kinda excited for the new Freddy because he looks more fun to play, especially with the right changes. I don't think he will be one of my mains since for this he lacks other things, but I can see me playing/enjoying him more.

Forever Freddy. That's the reason.
It was the og "holds the game hostage" win condition by attrition, and it should never have existed. I can only imagine what modern killers in 2025 would do with this ability (hint: it's 60 minute matches where the killer automatically wins).
I have yet to see anyone who pines for his "original power" also give anything that resembles a solution to this problem, since the slowdown in the dream world and "progressively harder to wake up" mechanics that caused "forever Freddy" are core features of that build.
Shoot, I don't think I've seen anyone who mentions wanting "original Freddy" even acknowledge that "forever Freddy" was a problem, let alone offer an alternative that would both fix "forever" but keep the general concept.

Just tune the slowdown a bit then. And you're thinking of reworked Freddy, before his nerf to his current version, not original Freddy. What people called "forever Freddy" was nowhere near forever anyway, and it was basically their defeatist attitude and lack of strategy or teamwork that led to most of their losses to it. He has Ruin? Cleanse it. He has Pop? Don't give him free downs over and over. He fakes a teleport? Go back to the gen. He commits to teleport? Run him away from it so others can work on it. It's not that hard for 4 survivors to pressure 2 different gens at the same time, but back then and still today the average survivor team can't even do that. Gen kicks were immediately reversible back then through gen tapping, and now the killer's only got 8 regressions before it's permablocked to him forever. So no, bringing back that version of Freddy wouldn't do a single solitary thing to shake up the meta or anything. He's a noob stomper, and nothing more. That's why people were so upset with the nerf. They removed his strategy as well, by limiting his snare count by so much, by removing his pre-placed anti-loop.
Experience tells me that when people say something's an easy win for killer, it usually isn't. Because it's said about anything and everything. People will harp on about Hag, Doctor, Freddy, Leatherface, Ghost Face, but you never see them, because they're weak. Same thing with "holding the game hostage" from the killer end. The rate of that happening to me has been like 1 in every 50 matches, at most, ever. And if the team is decent, it just doesn't matter that they do it. 1-2 people know to avoid a 3-gen or how to pressure once they're in one, killer could lose the whole game. The reason it takes longer each time to wake up from a Freddy clap is because it counters survivors being able to quickly disable the killer's power infinitely. It's why Singularity is trash, because it's perpetual, readily available EMPs that disable your power the whole match. The cures for Nemesis and Wesker feel the same, and they're not even infinitely spawning. It's just like, "Great. Now I've got to waste more time than a regular M1 chasing just to infect the survivor with my power, so that I can use it later, which they can cure and restart the process anyway."

They did very little to Freddy because anything more than that would actually take effort. BHVR has a bad habit of playing it way too safe way too often.

Pallets are useless, because survivors can still SEE them. So this little change doesnt do anything.
Dream Projection is good, but getting slowed down while channeling the TP midchase to 3.86m/s (survivors run 4.0 m/s) is crazy. Why should you use this distraction in the chase now?
The PTB-Alarmclocks were untouched, which is horrible. They are far too strong. You will face against awake survivors most of the time.4 -
pallets still suck. dream projection is nerfed and only relevant part for snares that they buffed got nerfed. BVHR often nerf killers from PTB after doing their rework. I think that when freddy comes to live, nobody will play him and they'll likely revert his cooldown nerf for snares.

I think that's the point. Playing against a constantly 99ing TP is super tedious. You can still fake it situationally, but you can't constantly 99 it between the slowdown and cooldown.

The fact they nerfed his snares and not the actual problems like Tping to slugs is insane. Dream pallets are still useless since they grow bright red

I mean, this is where we are. We're saying to nerf a D tier killer, who's far outclassed by Nurse, Blight, Spirit, Pyramid Head, Hillbilly, Twins, etc even if all proposed (now cancelled) buffs had gone through, all because we're afraid 1 little macro gimmick.

Freddy is pretty much a slug king now.
His pallets are useless and snare doesn't do much. He is decent pub stomper with slugging and tunneling but other than that, there isn't much for him to do.
I'd increase the number of pallets to 10 and make them work like old ones. At least this way you can create a fake safety zones for survivors and pressure them there.
