This game is falling apart

Bhvr.
Please.
Yall have to do something different. This game gets more and more buggy with each release. I know yall are probably doing the best you can with what you have but this is seriously getting out of hand.
a couple of bugs here and there is whatever. Fine. But the last few patches have had serious content breaking bugs from killer powers, to maps, to perks.
I cannot be the only long time dbd enjoyer this is starting to wear on. Please do not mail it in waiting for the FNAF chapter because at this rate it’s going to seriously break the game beyond repair.

A post like this isn’t very helpful if you’re not going to state what specific bugs you have noticed with this new patch. I play survivor about 50% of the time and a few different killers the other half of the time, and I haven’t noticed any significant bugs.
6 -
You might want to go check the bug reports for today then. There are A LOT of reported bugs. Houndmaster should be killswitched at this point its that bad.
17 -
I posted my bugs first and wrote this after. And even if I didn’t post the bugs, all you have to do is go look at the bug reports for today. It’s insane to have this many bugs with every game update while asking people to pay for content.

Yeah it's gotten really out of hand lately and it's making me question whether or not I want to keep investing time and money in DbD.
I could excuse the game being buggy in 2016, but now we're 8 years in. There's no reason why we should still be getting game-breaking bugs shipping with every update. I mean where is the playtesting? The QA? Some of the bugs that slip through are so obvious or egregious I have to believe they either didn't test things, or they knew it was bugged and pushed it live anyways. Neither of which is acceptable.
And on this topic, the devs should know what does and doesn't work in this game after 8 years. So why on earth did we get a killer whose power relies on AI/pathfinding/whatever its called? In the entire history of the game, they've never managed to pull this off. Knight is a buggy mess, bots are a buggy mess, Nemesis' zombies are a buggy mess, purple glyphs and memory fragments are buggy and erratic. I just can't understand why the Houndmaster's power made it past the initial ideas stages. Did noone look at "AI dog with search and chase modes" and say, "Maybe given the game's track record, we should do something else?" Because now we have another killer who is doomed to be forever janky. I don't get it.

Just gonna state I love the name lmfao

It really is excellent! 👌 👍
Now I'm wondering if AmandasJawRepair is available? 🤔

I agree and feel the same. 💯

Between the increasingly buggy patches, the questionable decisions made by the devs, and survivors constantly going next at the slightest thing they don't like (I saw my 3 survivors partners all DC or go AFK the moment Legion's music was heard, then it happened again against Blight), I've barely played at all in the past couple of months.
I don't know what the solution is at this point, but…it sucks.

Start spacing out chapters apart.
3 chapters per year max.
Use the time in between to fix bugs and issues.
Please, Bhvr.
7 -
Those are two different jobs. That's like saying the chefs at a restaurant should stop cooking food until the wait staff have all the tables cleared.
2 -
Fair point.
But, spacing out chapters will still help, since less new stuff = less chances to break the game more.

Think i saw a houndmasters dog gdt stuck and couldnt be sent just rappidly barking, so they dc'ed

The very core "issue" of DBD - this game doesn't have any worth competitors of the genre. If there was a game that is nearly as good as DBD (threatens DBD to withdraw\steal players) - watch how immediately the developers are working numerous times better.
The lack of competitors usually being "greeted" by lazyness, and lack of desire to try better\be better.
The quality of the game would've been MUCH better if the game were having any competitors that threatens to withdraw a playerbase.
I've said nothing new btw, DBD was not having any worthwhile competitors since the very 2016.

I would like to hope that the people BHVR employs has a desire to make a quality product … without being threatened to do it. I know that Dead by Daylight is ultimately a business — but we have to acknowledge the impact we have on the final product too. In my head, it feels like the community already has their foot on BHVR's neck. Nothing they have done suggests they are in a power position. The other day they made changes to a perk that nobody plays and got laughed at on every single social media platform.
Over the course of the last month ALONE, BHVR had to deal with …
- … the most recent chapter being considered a failure on release due to technical glitches.
- … being accused of bait-and-switch predatory tactics for how Skull Merchant was nerfed.
- … a popular community creator inciting thousands of privacy support tickets to be opened to determine MMR data.
- … being accused of having little knowledge about how the game actually works and actually plays on a daily basis.
- … ongoing DC/hook suicide epidemic, ongoing performance issues, an entire black market of cheaters with affiliate codes.
- … the Sadako/Alien chest issue, which was considered not to be a problem.
I think JCglitchmaster's Sadako video series is a good reflection of this. You get the message immediately from the video titles.

What about my name 😏
2 -
They gotta make 2v8 permanent for casual players
4v1 is for tryharders/old school players
and Nurse needs a complete rework, this killer is totally problematic, she can ignore every loop mechanic
4 -
Your name is prolly the only thing correctly coded! 😋🤣

scrolling through bug reports this morning makes this patch look even worse. Wesker iri vial bug, bubba tantrum bug, Freddy snares causing game stutters, performance getting worse. The game was so nice to play this time last year what happened bhvr?
0 -
At some point the bug count will overflow and become stable.
3 -
It'll grow until it can move around the maps on its own, prolly with better pathing then guards, bots, or zombies. We should begin to worry once it develops language skills....
2 -
The bugs are seriously demoralizing me from playing the game. Ik it's standard affair but genuinely it just doesn't feel like they've added anything of massive substance for awhile, instead just sightly improving balancing while the stability of the game nosedives and turns back for a while then nosedives again.
Houndmaster hasn't been playable for the majority of her release, and at this point she just doesn't do anything for me. There are 38 killers in this game and she's basically destined to be passed over by 95% of the playerbase. Honestly, the 4 Chapters a year in a game as monetized as this just feels like too much. I agree with the above users that say 3 chapters a year and more focus on performance would be better for the game.
Use the more limited inclusions to actually make them mean something and have impact again. I'm probably going to take a small break from the game till Fnaf, hopefully things will have improved by then.

They said no
6 -
We still have Killers with game breaking bugs, for them. We still have Killers that have mechanics that simply aren't fun to play against or with. We still have nothing new for Survivor.
I love this game but I'm seriously tired of them never addressing the real issues.2 -
I uninstalled yesterday. After playing for more than 7 years, I have seen enough. The bugs and server issues will never resolve unless we stop giving them money and time. It's the only way.

this is the way unfortunately

I don't think I'll ever reinstall. Seems that most people are content with how dbd is. I guess they enjoy playing poorly optimized and coded games.

Stop saying y'all it makes you sound like a Richard head

no.
3 -
Maybe bhvr listens to this

less content is never a good idea.

People have been saying for the longest time that they needed to do an Operation Health like Rainbow Six Siege did, but regardless Behavior will do what Behavior does.
I doubt we will ever get a revamped patch that fixes many issues. It's sad, but it is what it is for me.

Taking into account the potential long-term content drought it would have, as no new content of any kind would be able to be added, as well as how there's no telling how long we would have to wait for such an update to arrive.
Them doing some big health update this late into the game's lifespan is far too late and i doubt the playerbase have the patience to wait who knows how long before bhvr have finished such an endeavour.
It's better to space such a task out through multiple patches, something i have a feeling that they're already doing.

I agree, small patches to fix certain issues would go a long way. Especially with the Kindred changes where it used to show the killer without any obscuring. I know Behavior said it was intended to allow some secrecy on the killer's behalf, but sometimes you don't get any information due to how long it takes the bubble to go away concealing the killer.
Why I typically attach Open-Handed with Kindred just to provide information, as Kindred by itself sometimes doesn't relay much information due to the changes made in patch 6.0.
But regardless, I hope that they start to make some changes as I've seen bugs with Houndmaster for example — where she summons the dog and it gets stuck in one place, while it just continues to bark over and over again. I think the community just wants many changes due to how monotonous DBD has become to play, to be fair.

I personally like that bubble, makes it easier to tell where a Survivor is hooked from. I'd be fine with it being removed via some perk, but i don't think it should to be removed completely.

As far as i can tell, the most egregious bugs that plagued Houndmaster have been fixed with the recent bug fix patch and i haven't noticed any new bugs with her either.
Also the truth is that if the game feels monotonous to you already, then it's most likely going to feel so regardless of how many QOL features they do, as the gameplay loop will still remain the same in the end.
Only way for it to not feel that way, is if bhvr by some unrealistic chance decides to create some new game mode with entirely new gameplay forms for both Survivors and Killers that changes how you play the game completely.

Oh yeah, for sure - that's why I typically take breaks from it and come back when I feel like playing again. 😊
I saw the bug happen about two days ago against a Houndmaster (she'd summon the dog) but it would get stuck at a window in Ormond Lake Mine and continually bark over and over again. ☠️

Sure, but with the recent bugfix patch that released not long ago today, she's completely fine now.

Has the collective attention span gotten so short that people would be outraged over a one month delay between chapters?
I find it a bit overwhelming that there is a new (usually bugridden and undercooked) chapter every 3 months, with multiple half-chapters sprinled in for good measure, while the base game is kept buggy and full of issues.
2 -
You are right at least for their specific genre however they still got competition they kinda forgot and that is literally every other game in existence. I don't know if someone would preffer to play the buggy mess that is DBD right now over Half life 1 for example. It is a no brainer obviously you will go for this old classic instead of a new buggy mess right? At least I hope so there is just so many other games if you let your game spiral into barely playable mess people will just play something they can actually play and enjoy without bugs right at least that is my logic I don't know.

If they actually fix all the bugs and also fix the lag people easily get on their servers the gameplay loop may be the same but it will be 200% better because it is smooth and enjoyable. Also basically if you produce quality product everyone will talk about it and give positive feedback to everyone. Although that was obvious and if you don't well then everyone will start saying the truth that your product is absolutely broken and falsely advertised as good for example and they will do everything possible to deny it is worth even a try. Pretty much keep your game stable you get to keep growing don't keep the game stable everyone will eventually leave and forget about it. Maybe this game is the only one of its kind for now that kinda works but you can't really keep on going on hopes that every fan you got will sit by you like a lapdog.

Yes, thank you for stating the obvious that applies to literally every single game.
It doesn't change the fact that no matter how much you fix in the game or add to the game, some people are still gonna find DBD's base gameplay loop monotonous because despite the variations, it's still the same in the end.
Nor does it change the fact that there will always be people playing DBD regardless of the state it's in.
1 -
Yeah I guess so. I just hope most people don't decide to just keep quiet cause the bugs are only gonna get worse from now on if they don't start fixing them
0 -
- People have been vocal about DBD's issues throughout it's entire lifespan, there's quite literally no reason to assume that's gonna change all of the sudden.
- Yeah nah, i don't agree with you about bugs only going to get worse from now on, compared to what we've had in the past, the bugs that plagued the game before the hotfix patch that we got today were relatively mild in comparison.
- There's no reason to assume the developers won't try and fix as many issues and bugs as they realistically can with the bandwith they have available, however some of these issues cannot realistically be fixed in the timeframe from now to the release of the fnaf chapter, especially such as things like recoding the game from scratch, which is a much bigger endeavour than what most people seems to think it is.
1 -
Okay if you say so. From all the recent ######### ups of the behaviour I just don't have very positive outlook on them. At some point they really just gotta take a break from chapters or at least make a chapter that is not being released with a bunch of bugs. And maybe focus on full on bug fixes and code stability more so the changes don't break half the game is all.
0 -
They actually did do a bug fix only patch at one point in the past, people complained about how there was no new content in it.
Maybe they'll reduce the number of chapters per year at some point in the future, when they feel like there is enough content in the game to warrant doing so.
as far as a health chapter goes, it isn't really gonna do all that much different than what hotfix patches already does. Fixing the code itself is what's gonna actually help reduce the number of bugs and make the game more stable.
However as stated before, a task that big is a much larger endeavour to accomplish due to the sheer quantity of content in the game already that would need to be recoded, as well as the fact that it could potentially take years to accomplish, during which we'd sit with a content drought until they're done and that could easily hurt the game much more than what any buggy patch or unpopular chapter ever could.
With that said, since bhvr have throughout the years been updating old and oudated stuff in the game that they otherwise couldn't really change or fix before, as well as how Mathieu Cote have said in interviews that the foundation of the game would see some love in the future back in late 2024, i don't think it's a stretch to suggest that they're already working on fixing the code as we write, they're just slowly working on it through multiple patch over time instead of in a single giant patch.

Well okay. I won't be playing the game for a while so I guess I will just be watching from the sidelines which is honestly more entertaining than actually playing. I only wanna buy the free characters during halloween and then I can just call it a day when I get all achievements.
