The 1st iteration of 2v8 was the best

Options

What's with the sudden downfall of 2v8? The second and third iterations are the worse and player retention is at an all time low.

BHVR, you need to make better decisions dude you are ruining an amazing gamemode for no good reason.

The worst part is probably legion and rpd this time. If you get neither of those it's pretty fun as survivor.

I also liked the first version most, partly because it was very simple. I think it got a little bit stale toward the end, and would have benefited from adding more killers, maps, and survivor classes over time but it didn't need to get more complicated IMO.

However, I have grown to like the active power in the survivor classes that they added in v2, so not all of the experiments are bad. I just don't want it to slowly turn into something as fussy as 1v4 is. Part of what I like about 2v8 is being able to just pick it up and play quickly and casually without needing to memorize a bunch of details or strategize too much.

Because survivors wanted a way to "fight back" against the killer, like want in every game in this genre, so the kick cages were swapped for pick-up teleports to cages. That makes the killers have to play harder to win, including slugging and tunneling. That's because before, they could send someone on there way and continue the chases. Now they waste more time now matter what, and then there's the possibility of flashlight/pallet saves.

The comeback mechanic does more harm than good. I don't care if it helps both sides, because it punishes both sides, and people don't like being punished just for playing the game. And that's the problem with 1v4 killer. In 2v8, the killer gets punished for caging people by giving them bonus gen speed, directly encouraging them to tunnel. Survivors have their gens slowed down... for doing them... and speed them back up by getting caged, which encourages the killers to ignore any bots and instead go for the real players, the more credible threats.

With the exception of literal broken maps where people could go "out of bounds," and pallets which weren't even loops, original 2v8 pretty much nailed it first try. It was weird not having the gens doubled (something they definitely should have done if they put MMR in the mode), but it keeps killers on their toes.

Are you kidding? RPD has always been so overpowered for survivor. And Legion, I've described at length as being overhated/overblown in other posts about him.
