Perks should have color-coded rims that correspond to what they do.
A simple change to make perks a little more colorful/noticeable. I think each perk should have an associated emblem that it strongly correlates with (i.e, deliverance with benevolence, surge with gatekeeper), and this association should give it a different colored rim. This would just make perks, easier to pick out at a glance.
Editing this like a month and a half later because I noticed a fatal flaw with this idea: it could exclude colorblind people from enjoying the same distinctions. Perhaps in addition to colors, it would also change the patterns of the perk's rim: straight (as is current), notched, jagged, and wavy patterns could all work.

That would be a nice change.

A simple decent idea if the search function isn't helping as well as hoped

It's not that bad of an idea, but kind of pointless (at least for PC) because of custom icon packs. Maybe a better idea would be a way to sort the perks based on functionality or even better a custom sorting option where you can have your favorite perks on your first page or so.

The vast majority of the playerbase will never touch mods or icon packs. And if you do download icon packs, then youre already choosing icons you want. How does this invalidate the suggestion?
+1 OP, I think this is a great, simple suggestion. DbD has an overwhelming amount of information for new players to learn. We need to be able to read teammate perks in lobby. Some color-coding would provide quick heuristics to at least get the point of a perk.

If Devs decide that visible perk loadout to our teammate will not be added (to prevent stigmatism and lobby dodging, I understand that), that idea would fit perfect, other players could see just colours of other survs loadouts and could more less knows what they will do in a trial.
