Anyone else think lockers should be changed in some way?
It almost feels like getting into a locker is a death sentence in most scenarios.. You make a loud noise if you get in them too quickly, you can be heard outside of them if you are injured… Why even have them? Maybe lockers should be reworked to be more immersive and at the same time buff them so you can't be heard if injured or something else to make them stronger. What if when a Survivor got into a locker, they actually go into 1st person mode? See pic below.
- New locker perspective that would be in 1st person, but lockers would get buffed to compensate such immersion and less vision.
In doing so we could buff lockers to make grunts of pain completely silent when inside of them or something. I just think the way lockers are currently in DBD is extremely lackluster and the only reason you should ever get in a locker is if you're using the perk "Head On"..
Speaking of Head On, it can be altered as well IF lockers changed to a 1st person perspective to make them more immersive yet stronger assuming balance changes came at the same time. Head On would be the only perk that allows a Survivor to use the current perspective where the camera is somehow outside of the locker. That way you can still use the old way through a perk.
2. Classic perspective attached to "Head On" perk for ease of use.
Let me know your thoughts.

There are a couple of things I don't like about lockers - how much noise they make when entering or exiting them slowly, I believe they should be silent if you aren't performing a rushed action as the animation is very slow anyway. The other is the injured noises are far too loud (so much so that they can often be heard above the basement if there is an injured survivor in one) but there are a lot of sound issues with the game these days from my understanding

Lockers shouldn't be buffed. Searching lockers are way too time consuming for killers. If you properly go into a locker without being close enough to the killer or leaving scratch marks near it, the odds of killers searching all the lockers in a vicinity is very unlikely unless your playing in low mmr. If lockers were to be buffed it would be too much of a detriment to the killer. If you want to prioritize anything in the game you can always design a build around it. Gens/Looping/Altruism and even lockers.
If youre smart about your locker use theyre still very good and useful

So would you be in favor of the immersion/making it harder for Survivor to see outside of the locker via 1st person perspective idea? With Head On being the old way to aim the stun?

I wouldnt be against it but I don't think its necessary. I think theyre fine the way they are in my opinion

It's interesting as in the very first DBD trailer with claudette hiding in the basement from Trapper, that POV was used, so I'm confused as to why it never ended up in the game… Would add more of a claustrophobic feel to the game at least.

I also believe that they do that effect in the survivors tutorial. It's a neat POV but the information you get by being third person in a locker is too beneficial to just scrap for a simple pov change. It looks cool but would inevitably frustrate players

Perhaps TOO beneficial? So maybe we can implement it to counter that information but make lockers a soundless safe spot? Idk, just trying to think of a way to put that in.. xD

They are pretty darn useful already. I usually weaponize them by NOT using them. If you have enough game sense to know when the killer is coming your way while you're on a gen, leaving a bit early usually has them assuming your are hiding nearby, and they'll waste a lot of time checking empty lockers.
They are also very handy in a pinch during a chas especially if you have quick and quiet.
They are great at slowly getting into them if the killer is coming your way and doesn't know that you're there. They usually don't bother to stop and check for lockers unless they think someone is there.

They're fine. Just practice looping and evading and you wont need to use them much.

The funny thing is, I never use lockers. They seem pretty useless when perks are not involved. Same as totems. Pallets work with or without perks. I'd like to see totems and lockers be useful without perks.

You will be impressed now:
You can even be heard inside a locker if you're not injured. I can differentiat my breathing from yours and even say in which locker you are if there are two next to each other. I have to admit it's really brutal and it has to be super quite, but it's possible xD

survivor overall should be in 1st POV

I can see the "survivor stuck in first person the whole match after being pulled out of a locker with victor holding the doors" bug coming from a mile away lol
But aside from that i just think they could use a visual update. Like the fact that they are bright red boxes in a room full of dark objects makes them stand out too much and sometimes even draws the killers attention to check them.

Good idea for another game mode.
Same. They do look really out of place. Especially on maps like Eerie of Crows, Haddonfield, and Swamp.. Maybe they can just alter them visually depending on the map. They don't have to be these big ugly red lockers for every map. Make them look like dirty cupboards on Haddonfield or metal fishing cabinets on the Swamp. It's not like people will not realize they're lockers. Same shape, same utility, just different visually to match the map even..
