FNAF Waiting Room - Are you Ready for Freddy?

Member Posts: 310

FNAF is my dream license for Dead by Daylight, and it is right around the corner! I am so excited!

I desperately hope Blight gets a Foxy skin. I would never take it off. FNAF is one of those things that are near and dear to my heart, like Jurassic Park. I know that Scott Cawthon is protective of his franchise, but I really want all four animatronics to be represented. Even if they go the Dead Rising 1 way (Fake Mega Buster/Fake Mega Man Costume), I just want the idea in DBD.

While it might not happen, I hope the marketing team adds plaintext to the source code of the DBD website, and have the DBD website have a conversation with the scottgames.com website. If you are outside the FNAF world, that might sound really strange to you to have two websites talk to each other — but it's one of those things you'll just have to trust me on because it's difficult to explain why Scott Cawthon did it for so many years to promote his games. It would light the FNAF community on fire. It's one of those things that I would hear about before the end of the day. I used to watch whole 30 minute analysis videos because Scott Cawthon updated his website. BHVR could post Freddy's Top Hat like the old Scott Games teaser and it would break the internet.

Are you ready for Freddy?

As a sidenote — part of me wonders how the developers prepared for the FNAF chapter. I really hope they record a behind-the-scenes video like the Silent Hill 2 developers did. Do you think they put everyone in a conference room, and made everyone watch the entire 8-hour Gibi Horror Homestead video? FNAF is a big undertaking.

It's really unbelievable that the next chapter will be FNAF, I personally never imagined that they would get this license.

FNAF is not one of my favorite chapters but I'm happy it's here and we all know the hype is huge and it's going to be the biggest chapter BHVR has ever released.

My dream chapter would probably be The Evil Within. The possibility of content that could come depending on the developers' choice is huge. There are several possibilities for killers, maps, survivors and cosmetics.

And like with the movie, Scott is directly involved so it will be made for those who love the franchise.

it better be springtrap in terms of lore power etc it just fits perfectly. IF it is springtrap im sorry piggy but if found another main. (i also cant wait for the casting of frank stone)

FNAF is the first property in this game I know before playing. Im 23 but never played one of the games or watched the movies of the licenses. Wasn’t a fan of movies and the video games I did play were more gta, open worlds and shooters not puzzle solving survival horror. It is only recent I played RE and watched some of the movies that are in this game but I still haven’t on a lot. I play bubba alot but I never seen any of the movies. FNAF has been here since I was in 6 th or 7th grade so super excited about this chapter. Wasn’t too excited for DND castlevania or Tokyo ghoul but that doesn’t matter knowing FNAF is coming.

    Most likely, yes.

I am sure that will go well, especially considering the brigading done here when the Hellraiser teaser wasn't FNAF. Can only imagine what could happen if people are disappointed by the adaptation if they freaked out over a teaser trailer not being what they wanted.

It would be the same kind of disappointed as when Skull Merchant turned out to not be a killer cyborg like the tools of torment chapter teaser led people to believe.

I even moreso imagine people would have been more disappointed over Doomed Course if it had any pre-ptb teasers, especially seeing the mixed reaction to Houndmaster herself.

Personally however, ATW is the biggest let down for me.

I have never been a FNAF super fan; in fact, quite the opposite. How ever I've recently been thinking back and appreciating the dirty sort of grime-centric theme of the first couple of games. Hopefully that's the feel they're going for and I expect it is because while we do have some super stand out colorful characters like trickster for example. I believe that in order to do the fnaf chapter true justice BHVr and co should def go with the darker edgier look from the first 3-4 games. I have my reservations for the killer more than likely being Springtrap as opposed to Freddy or even a conglomerate of the main 4 original animatronics (kind of like legion, wouldn't that be so cool?)… But alas beggars cannot be choosers. Here's to hoping BHVr does more than meet our expectations! Either way this SHOULD be really good for the game and it's future.

DBD's experiencing a bit of a licensed content drought for me recently. I liked the Castlevania chapter because we finally got a Vampire and I'll probably get The Ghoul because he looks fun to play. But I wouldn't say I'm really a Castlevania fan, having played only a handful of the 8 and 16 bit titles. And I know absolutely nothing about Tokyo Ghoul. The last chapter that got me hyped was Chucky.

The FNAF games have never appealed to me either. I've always assumed they were mostly aimed at a younger teen audience and I was way beyond my teens by that point. Even the Junji Ito skins they've released are for Killers I don't play. So for me, the drought continues.

I tend to play less often when a new Killer is released, because it gets tiresome facing the same Killer every game. If FNAF lives up to the hype, that might turn out to be quite a lengthy break from the game (or at least from playing the Survivor role, anyway).

A Foxy skin for Blight would be fitting.

The creator of Fnaf Scott Cawthon is involved in the project, same as the fnaf movie which was made for the people who love the franchise and no one else. It WILL be a success in that way, but people will only stay if the perks and mechanics are actually fun. I wouldn't be surprised if we got new mechanics never before seen in the game.

I found FNAF really boring when I played it and I have absolutely no idea how it’s going to work as a chapter in DBD.

  • Member Posts: 379

I just know it needs to be a stealth killer, the entire series is built on jump scares so if it not a stealth killer they failed.

  • Member Posts: 319

Couldn't care less about FNAF, but I'll hope the chapter ends up being good. If it is here, it may as well be good. More interested in whatever is coming next.

If it really is going to be Springtrap as majority of people want, then i don't see how we're going to get some brand new never before seen mechanics, given that we already have a camera system in the form of Singularity's Biopods, Ventilation system in the form of Xeno's tunnels, AI Phantom Animatronics in the form of Knight's guards.

Unless they take liberties like they did with Pyramid Head, i legit cannot see what brand new never before seen mechanic bhvr can bring to a fnaf crossover that hasn't already been previous done in some shape or form.

Super excited, this is absolutely a dream license for me and many others! I am very curious though on how they're going to go about this chapter, like who they would choose for the survivor, and which map they would choose out of the countless Freddy's locations.

I never played any of the FNAF games, but I've watched Markiplier play through them all and I've watched most of the lore videos. Not a fan of the games, but am a big fan of the story and characters.

Know how protective Scott is of FNAF I highly doubt we'll see any of the original animatronics as playable characters or cosmetics. Scott probably one of the few people that sees them as confused murdered children, not robots and make sense why he doesn't want to see them in any games. SpringTrap maybe being the only exception since he's the only adult and is a killer that caused everything.

Could be FNAF themed cosmetis, but highly doubt it'll be the characters themselves. Maybe something like scrap baby or that twisted abomination w/e it's called for Dredge could be an option?

I honestly expect the same. I mean, their Operation Health they are currently doing is also thanks to FNAF bringing a lot of new players into the game. This will be a big part of it.

But people will be disappointed if the Chapter does not turn out exactly as they wished it would have turned out. And I am very sure that this will happen, simply because expectations are sky-high.

  • Member Posts: 319

Im pumped for YouTube to explode over it and the downpour of new players. I hope it's handled maturely, like the early days of fnaf when the series did not feel kid-friendly

  • Member Posts: 3,225

It'll be like any other major release; people will flood in, you'll see a lot of the killer (too much, most likely), the novelty will wear off (and some will be disappointed) and within a few months we'll be right back where we started. The initial numbers spike might be bigger than most (probably right up there with the first RE chapter), but the lifecycle is always the same.

I doubt we see anything transformative. I feel like the best thing FNAF is doing for DBD is that the prospective flood of new players has ostensibly spurred BHVR to address game health as a whole so all the noobs don't immediately flee when they realize what this game actually is, lol.

As for the IP itself, I kinda hate it (no, I really hate it) and wish it were something else, but I don't want it to flop because I want what's best for the game. But it is a divisive property.

Personally I'm more excited for Kaneki and whatever follows FNAF than FNAF.

I hope we get these skins for these characters

    Molten Freddy-The dredge

    Ennard-The unknown or the singularity

    Mangle-the unknown

    Funtime Freddy-the twins

    Original 4 cast masks-the legion

I’m not sure what else but those skins are perfect legendarys for those killers

Boi! You got some learning to do 🤘

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a great start 😁

While BHVR's health patches will mostly help alleviate some frustrations in the game, i don't think it's gonna change how many people from the influx of fnaf players will ultimately stay or leave the game after the dlc drops, as DBD is not for everyone and alot of people have already bought the game and played it in anticipation for the crossover.

I feel the Doomposting around this chapter specifically is coming from people who are already salty FNAF is being added and want a reason to think it's going to go poorly.

We get years long fan requests added constantly, from RE to Alien to Chucky to Dracula, people have found a reason to be hyped or disappointed by anyone being added, with execution actually seeming to matter the most. Sure, there will be people who hate no matter what, but I certainly didn't see anyone pinning Alien as a flop because of fan expectations, it was almost all based around legitimate complaints in design.

Yes, there's definitely a chance the devs mess up the power like Xeno and the killer becomes extremely unpopular, but I don't see much of a reason to assume that before we've even seen it. Even a controversial killer like Nemesis still has a lot of fans. I have faith we'll get something good from Springtrap, especially since he doesn't fall into regular killer pitfalls like 'dash ability.'

This idea is genuinely the best thing that can come from this colab.

I think the Marionette could work pretty well as a legendary or just an inspired skin for Nurse, and I feel like Vanny makes a lot of sense for Legion as well.

Dbd will probably be the coolest interpretation of fnaf, love it or hate it.

The actual games offend my poor eyeballs but I can't wait to see the 3d glow up of Springtrap

There are two reasons FNAF gets a bit different salt from a lot of franchises (especially iconic ones:) People's stance on the creator of the series and their unwillingness to support him, and the community's behavior (both as a fandom and within DBD's history, as @Pulsar mentioned.) People are allowed to have their opinions about the creator and separating art from its creator and what have you, but there is a very clear generational gap between most of the licensed franchises and FNAF.

As has been mentioned even in this very topic, younger people tend to know FNAF a lot more than most of the horror icons in the game, regardless of what form of media they come from. On the inverse, its a much newer series than most of the licenses (with a few exceptions, of course) and does not carry a "classic" moniker the same as many others for anyone born before maybe 1990 or so. Its a combination of different appreciations and time dilation which causes the schism, and the majority of the licenses are from a different era. It doesn't help that the series has been focusing more on younger audiences and further widening the divide, and that the fandom behind it is a bit…. notorious. Especially within DBD's community.

These things combine to make a lot of people who play the game especially disinterested in this chapter, with some points being legitimate while others are merely subjective. Either way, its probably going to be the most divisive license from a background (i.e. not gameplay/implementation based) perspective we'll see in a while, if ever. Ironically Pinhead was probably the worst up to this point with the whole NFT snafu, and that was the chapter that really started the FNAF drama in the first place.

I was there during almost all of this drama from the initial FNAF controversy to Pinhead. I have the unique perspective of being a lifetime fan of both franchises since launch, so admittedly I did already know all of the things in this comment, though I understand why you would assume otherwise based on my original statement.

I've spoken on this in previous topics, but I fully understand the stance and reasoning against the Creator of FNAF, and even agree with it for the most. Many of his donations are ones I found deeply unsettling then and still have a sour taste on now. Its just as a FNAF fan who's LGBTQ, it's difficult to see people who were utterly fine accepting any controversial figure in DBD because it was a licence they liked, only to turn on FNAF like it's literal evil to support. Not accusing you or anyone you mentioned of this, it's just so draining hopping on X and seeing a bunch of grown adults say 'supporting FNAF isn't the stance of someone who supports human rights' as they beg BHVR for another Stranger Things chapter as if that company doesn't have a mountain of malformed skeletons in their closet.

I guess it just boils down to people forcing their morals on others without being willing to subject themselves to the same level of scrutiny. From that lens, I shouldn't have been so generalist and judgemental in my original comment, it's just difficult to give a good faith view to people who often aren't willing to give you one back, y'know?

    Wonder who that could be.

I wonder if they’re ever going to make another evil within because I thoroughly enjoyed the two they put out. Also in general just loved the Claire de lune theme for the mirrors rooms.

Thats also how I feel about it. I liked the first game, I feel like while it was mostly a jump scare fest, the clever camera system did see you panic and sit on edge when you lost sight of one. It did a hell of a lot with the simple mechanics it created. Later entries however overcomplicated the premise, and created a story that greatly diminished the fear factor.

I was not thrilled with where the franchise went, but like yourself, I do feel like BHVR can likely give FNAF a much needed injection of credibility, and jack it up as good as it can be.

I mean, you can read the above reply to Ryuhi where I specifically mentioned I wasn't referring to him or anyone else he mentioned, which in this context is literally just you. I was complaining about X and a couple specific people on here who are now banned after our encounters, since FNAF doesn't tend to gets brought up more than twice a month here. Admittedly I haven't been very active on these forums for the past few months. It's what the 'Fnaf supporters don't support human rights' comment was about, as I have actually had someone find my email and spam me messages with that statement.

People who take it so far as to email you on, what I assume, is a personal account are crazy, full stop end of story.

While I am extremely critical of FNAF (and of those who do not grasp the reservations I and many others have), I ultimately will respect other people's choice, as it is THEIR choice, not mine.

Personal harassment is several bridges too far and is never acceptable behavior.
