What's considered a win? Because I'd gladly die to secure a 3 man out. That's a win to me. But if a win is an escape, then hiding all game becomes a comp strat and I'm bad at the game for even trying. How do you gauge skill?

We all already play ranked mode, outside of things like 2v8.

I still fail to see the benefit a ranked mode would serve. You're still gonna deal with differences in expectations, you're still gonna deal with sweat in both queues (people want an easy opponent all the time), you're still gonna deal with soloq problems, just now all of that is in a mode where you're given a number people would use to harass each other.
Plus, queue time goes up for everyone as we permanently split the playerbase.

Strong players need a mode in which they can compete in fair conditions for both sides.

At the moment, many people believe that the 3 survivors who escaped from the map is a victory for the survivors.
If the killer did not allow three players to escape from the map, this is the killer's victory.
Two escaped survivors and two dead survivors are a draw.

It should have been a long time ago...

Except that they can't do this in a ranked mode because the game does not create truly fair conditions ever, under any circumstances.
You are going to have a level of skill variance within ranks. This creates unfair condiitons.
You are going to be playing with people at different levels of morale within your games. This creates unfair conditions, hugely if a survivor's morale is low enough that they give up entirely.
There's gonna be an expectation difference too - some will run only the meta of meta, wanting to push the ladder as far as it will let them. Others are going to be running off-meta to try and see how far their skill alone will take them, despite a queue incentivising only the strongest of loadouts. This creates unfair conditions.
And still somewhat importantly you are going to have rng differences that will favor one side over the other.
How would they at all orchestrate this fairness? Account for all of these inconsistencies?

The queue is already horrendous when 2v8 is out. I don't think we have enough population in the game to start permanently splitting the community into two parts.

If the players were motivated to compete and play better, there would be more new players in the game.
