Which character will you *never* play?

Member Posts: 308

(or never play again!)

Unfortunately some characters are just straight up bad or have a bad reputation with them.

Personally I'll never play Sable, no hard feelings just don't like her. And I'll also probably never touch Chucky, he isn't that great right now and I don't think I'll ever see the appeal unless I'm somehow able to get him completely for free.

Deathslinger is so aggressively overtuned that he feels both useless to play as, and almost an automatic victory when playing against.

  • Member Posts: 2,394

what do you think makes him aggressively overturned? My friend said the same thing kind of that he feels a bit much.

  • Member Posts: 463

    Simple.. Twins!

Never liked the playstyle that revolves around slugging, and I also hate facing them.

  • Member Posts: 4,549

    I'd say Wesker and Kaneki.

I've always despised Wesker and his introduction into this game, and Kaneki just looks incredibly boring to me.

  • Member Posts: 308

I've seen this sentiment said before and while I am yet to play him I haven't found going against him too unenjoyable. What exactly give the impression that he's awful for both sides?

  • Member Posts: 320

Most, if not all of his 2v8 buffs should go to live servers. His gun shoots too slow and takes far too long to reload.

  • Member Posts: 335

As a survivor he is too map depended. You got a lot of line of sight breakers, then you get hit by a knive, run a little bit, get hit again, run, get hit again …. there is no skill expression against him. you simply just run from line of sight breaker to line of sight breaker.
If there is little to no line of sight breaker on the map, you don't have a lot of counter play except of prerunning.

As the killer he feels so slow progress … hit a knive, run, hit a knive, run …
also he has no map control. it feels like you're always behind progress.

then he is extremely good at camping in endgame. what is boring on both sides.

  • Member Posts: 2,394

Would you be okay if they buffed that but added more line of sight breakers to certain maps?

  • Member Posts: 308

I see, that is all very fair.

With more recent killers getting better map control abiltiies, it definitely feels like he is falling behind.

I'll never play (or buy) ffnaf, no hate for those that wanted it but its not for me.

Other than that i've bought & likely will buy every single chapter ever released, including those I have almost zero interest in to support the devs & the game.

Of everything I own (all bought day of release) i've never played dredge (never seem to get around to it) singularity (meh) xenomorph 🤷🏻‍♂️ vecna 🤔 hound master 🐶 or unknown 🙄

Of those I have almost zero desire to play unkown, though I will eventually play all of them for achivements, of those I have played & got achivements for I have zero desire to ever play billy, blight, nurse, wesker or artist again beyond potential tome challenges.

Skull Merchant, her reputation is too destroyed at this point. Even if they completely change her like they plan too, I know all the survivors will dc anyways

  • Member Posts: 6,396

Back when I last tried Trickster he still had that awful recoil that made him unplayable with a controller. It sorta alternated left and right but you couldn't swing the sticks quickly enough to compensate and attempt to stay on target.

It's exactly the same reason Boil Over is rotten to deal with on console, even at max sensitivity, but is barely noticable with M&K, and why Singularity is rough to run as well. Ranged killers in DBD in general always feel clunky and unresponsive with the controller, and thankfully later this year M&K support will finally be coming to the consoles for those who wish to use them.

I wouldn't say I'd never play her again, but I used to be a pretty big Pig main until I noticed that most Pig players nowadays play as though there's a life on the line.

Obviously that hopefully wouldn't reflect my personal play style however it has just left a bad taste in my mouth and kind of killed my desire to play her. I'm hoping that the proposed basekit anti-tunnel maybe makes her players a little less insufferable to play against.

    Skull Merchant

Until they remove the drones and give her an actual good power

    Hag, Twins, Trickster.

Nurse and Blight, because playing them makes me nauseous (I can't even watch other people play these characters). I'll also never play Houndmaster or Singularity because they look like they'd be painful to play on controller. Singu's power is also pretty complex and I don't like Killers with complicated or mechanically difficult powers.

Ditto for Pinhead. I played one game with that guy, didn't land a single chain and got zero passive chain hunt value, because the Survivors kept solving his stupid Rubik's cube. Horrible Killer.

Oh, and I'll never play Ghostie. I still haven't recovered from the trauma of facing this Killer in every other trial back when I first started playing at rock bottom MMR. Easily one of the most infuriating Killers in the game for me.

On the Survivor side, I'll never play Jonah because his Guy Fieri fashion sense is not my vibe at all. Or Felix, because I hate suits (The raindeer antlers are cute though, so I make an exception to this rule at Christmas time). And I'll never, ever play Feng without a equipping Iron Will.

Its not that hes "overpowered" or anything, but from my experience playing against Deathslinger feels really bad. Most of the time chases with him feel super cheap and boring because there's just so many tiles in the game that are useless against him. Unless you get one of the maybe 2 or 3 tiles where you have higher walls then you are fine.

a character i haven't purchased…. i watch gameplay first to see if they are interesting and idc to own all perks when ill never use em anyway.

  • Member Posts: 2,011

I play all Survivors, but my least two favorite are Taurie (barely touch her) and Gabriel. I’m not a fan of their cosmetics or character design.

For killer it’s Twins; I do not see any appeal in their power.

  • Member Posts: 2,263

Probably Nurse. The idea of a killer where you are just going to get slaughtered until you master her, then you slaughter the survivors, doesn't seem like a good character in a multiplayer game.

  • Member Posts: 462

Hag. She's like Trapper if he was 110 and vastly less satisfying.

  • Member Posts: 3,232

I've played every character at least once, so we're too late for that. And while there are probably no characters I'll never play again, there are characters I'll only play for a tome/daily, and only if I can't trash can that challenge.

    These are:

    1. Nurse - I like playing DBD, and Nurse is playing something else
    2. Unknown - Gives me the ick. Can't say why, just does
    3. Ace - I hate his stupid, smug face. I am not a violent person, but I wish I could punch him
    4. Hag - I just hate her kit and playstyles

That's about it. Skull Merchant would be on the list, But I can't say I won't play her until I see the final product.

Trickster, nurse and hag. Trickster and nurse are very difficult for me to play since I play on controller and I don’t enjoy missing my power over and over because im handicapped to using plastic joysticks to aim and flick my camera. Hag’s gameplay has always and will always until they rework her feels incredibly boring. I don’t find joy and fun in camping/locking down a area of the map and wait for survivors to fall into my web of traps.

  • Member Posts: 607

You've meant overtuned (strong) or undertuned (weak) ? Because he is pretty weak right now.

    @OP

For survivor i just play the same ones because i don't have too many leveled up - Felix, Leon and Vittorio.

For killers, i have some mains and play casually with almost everyone, with exception of Nurse (never spent time to learn her) and Skull Merchant and trapper (too weak to bother to play as)

More LOS breakers?! MORE?! I know you aren’t asking for my opinion but the vast majority of maps have quite literally 20x the amount of LOS breakers than it did 4 years ago.

Makes most ranged killers borderline unplayable. Slinger included.

  • Member Posts: 2,394

If want to just shoot fish in a barrel because that’s what buffing his reload and stuff will do just so it “feels better”, without adding more los breakers on certain maps *cough cold wind cough* * cough any corridor cough* sorry my allergies are acting up. I’m just allergic to some things. Anyways might as well just stand under a hook when you load in if they buff that and don’t look at some maps against some of the ranged killers. Yes MORE.

  • Member Posts: 526

Wesker for me. I like the character, but i hate the people who play him because ever since his ptb ive seen weskers triple tunnel people right off the hooks 95% of the time to a point where i expect him to tunnel every game, and don't want to play him because of it. The other thing about him is hes one of the few killers in the whole game that can just hit you down but chooses to go out of their way to dash into you just so they can see where you are later to tunnel.

  • Member Posts: 2,394

also might as well kiss a lot of gen clusters that have to be broken goodbye on certain outdoor maps that are pretty much out in the open, because you will not have time to make it to a los breakers or any meaningful place to buy some time. In this solo economy for survivors? No shot, pun intended.

  • Member Posts: 10,430

You meant he was overnerfed then. We are in complete agreement. His gun is way too slow to pull up, he needs reload or miss cooldown add-ons base, and I haven't seen any arguments that justify his nerfs from way back when, except "He was uncounterable at loops" and "He was S tier." Explain how, if he never saw ANY play at high level or tournament. This is just like the nerfs to Freddy or Chucky, legit nerfing the weakest killers in the game. He's really fun to play in theory, too, as he was before his nerfs. But after just 1 or 2 matches with him, every time I'm like, "I'm done." Too frustrating for too little reward.

Hag, Cenobite, and Artist, simply put I never got used to their powers and there are killers I'm better at that can accomplish the same thing but easier for me and does it faster. I basically played them for their achievements and dropped them.

  • Member Posts: 10,430

I never play Leatherface. I mean, I have. But that was like 2019 or something stupid. I just can't stand bumping into something and then getting self-stunned, over and over. Especially* in a game where the killer's objective is to cut the loop more efficiently than the survivors, or else they never get caught. I get that that's kind of the skill in it, like with Hillbilly, learning how efficiently you can cut loops without bumping. But I just don't like that, in any killer. I do play some of them, like Demogorgon or Wesker, but their powers are a bit more lenient to hit.

I also really don't like Nurse. Don't like playing as her, don't like playing against her. You just have to guess where the survivors are going to be. If you're a card player, you can just dominate with her. If not, the survivors will ALWAYS be just a bit too far from your reach, or the game won't let you go through a single rock or something, as the survivors are running faster than you (great design! 👍). 🤦‍♀️

Chucky, having the 3rd person PoV often throws me off that I can't properly judge the distance with him so I often wiff my M1 attacks.

  • Member Posts: 10,430

Oh yeah, I forgot about Trickster. You'd have to be playing on PC just to play him, because the aiming scheme with the left hand/right hand alternation is just stupid, AND you have to be turning your camera at the same time to keep in line with her survivors, especially at point-blank. And then his knives simply dissolve on their own, like what is that?

I actually like Hag quite a bit. I like the set-up killer alternative to Trapper. I don't know how she's boring to play as. Her gameplay pretty much forces you to sweat and juggle 10 things every single match, with survivors constantly tripping your traps at inopportune times. And everyone using exploits to not have any change in speed or direction when they trip traps on purpose, basically making you chase as a 110% every single time you insta-tp to them. If a killer is supposed to have an instant tp, it needs to be INSTANT, and not allow survivors to get away after they clearly fell right into your trap. How few tp tokens she has is another annoyance. I could go on. I like playing against her though, to at least feel how strong that counterplay is against her. For some reason, I'm always the sole player on my team who knows how to play against her.

And if you want my views on Nurse, it's somewhere around here.

  • Member Posts: 2,394

fascinating, what killers do you like playing as? That’s not sarcasm. It’s genuine curiosity.

  • Member Posts: 122

    Trickster

    I. HATE. HIM.

  • Member Posts: 2,148

I will likely not play Blight again. Same with the Unknown.

Tried them, hated it, never again.

And Skull Merchant, but that may change based on what will the devs conjure up.

  • Member Posts: 129

To be quite frank, it’s very clear you haven’t played old DBD. Huge LOS and survivors were still much stronger back then vs now. Asking for more LOS breakers is literal insanity considering you went from 10-15 a map to well over 50-100+ a map. I can tell you dont play ranged killers.

  • Member Posts: 1,007

basically every non-dash killer, since i only found actual fun in mechanics of dash killers.

  • Member Posts: 361

Nurse perhaps but for the sole reason I am absolutely terrible with her and I cannot see myself getting any better

I have quite a few killers I cant bother with but to keep this not too long, my top choice will always be Spirit. I hate that killer either a burning passion as much as I hate skull merchant. Even the whole iron will, use headphone for audio que is not enough.

The fact she can just fake phase is stupid and unlike nurse who you still see her red stain during a blink, Spirit has 0 info. I will take a nurse or any killer over spirit anyday even a skull mechant over her at least. I also hate her design and he sounds are so annoying like some mad wild cat. Give her a hello kitty costume while were at it. Her chase music too is boring, I miss og music for her.

My bad. I am not choosing my words very well. In my head, I thought overtuned meant too much was done.

The “Death”slinger is neither deadly or scary to me. In my heart, it feels like the design team said “well he has a gun, so we have to make him completely suck and that means he is balanced.” I am not sure what is deadly about him. Most of his shots miss? Kinda boring to me.

Whenever I go against one, I know I’ve already won the trial unless I am in solo queue and they give up on me.

Maybe this is a perspective issue? I only play on console. I don’t have crosshairs taped to my living room TV the same way you might on a computer monitor. I don’t know if I like the character enough to justify spending money on his one gun that has sights on it.

I will never play Xenomorph because i absolutely despise playing AGAINST it as survivor. It feels like crap getting hit by a tail that you can barely react to, and the turrets just refuse to work.

Nurse and Trapper. Boring, outdated kits that are very bad and too good. Both need complete reworks

I can't say these are characters I'll never play. However these are the characters I'm hesitant to play, and why.

The Hag: Easy counterplay, can get stomped by survivors who barely know what they're doing. Hag was my hardest to adept.
The Cannibal: Easily my least favorite killer. No skiller, horrible character design, atrocious sound design, lame source material.
The Deathslinger: Easy counterplay. Still somewhat fun at times but there's something that never feels quite right playing Caleb :/
The Twins: Disgusting character design (I know that's the point). Super easy killer to win with but not very satisfying to play as IMHO
The Trickster: When first released I was a "This doesn't fit into DBD" Andy. Maybe I still am to a certain degree… Souichi skin made Trickster a lot more palatable for me personally. How ever, he still feels little more than lackluster in most aspects.
The Singularity: Boring to chase with. Hate his power, it's seriously so lame imo.

    Laurie Strode: Ugly
    Ace Visconti: Ugly
    David King: Ugly
    Quentin Smith: Ugly
    Detective Tapp: Ugly
    Jonah Vasquez: Ugly
    Haddie Kaur: Ugly
    Vittorio Toscano: Ugly
    Renato Lyra: Ugly
    Gabriel Soma: Ugly
    Baermar Uraz: Aestri is hotter

    Is that a lot?

    Edit: I just have standards.
