Is 3-gen strat back in the game?

There are more than you know, many killers won't surrender a winning match. Would you expect survivors to surrender a match they are winning? When it becomes well known that it's a flat out loss I'm sure many killer will refrain from using the abandon option.
But I do hope not many do what I do, if more people did then Devs would probably intervene lol
-11 -
If it's a winning match for the killer, the killer won't need to surrender, because the killer will be winning.
10 -
So 2 survivors remain, hiding not doing their objective. 0 gens completed. Killer is clearly winning that match. The options are, surrender and lose a winning match. Or spend however long it takes to find the remaining survivors even if it takes an hour. This is the issue. Survivors hide during a match they know they know they can't win and with the surrender option more survivors will be trying to get the killer to surrender which incentives hiding. Eternal hiding is something the Devs wanted to prevent but they have given survivors more reason to do it.
It boils down to who gets bored quicker. If survivors get bored they can come out of hiding whenever they want, if killer gets bored they can surrender any time they want. But it's unfair that survivors can avoid the objective to try get the killer to take a loss which is why I won't be using it.

Guess who met a P100 Skull Merchant who tried doing exactly this.
5 -
So if all the survivors abandon and no one is left but bots (and they’re not dead yet), so I abandon (because I don’t wanna play bots) I as killer would get punished and my mmr drops?
If that’s correct, not only is that punishing me when I’ve done nothing wrong, but even gives some killers a way to just permanently crash their mmr intentionally. This is setting up easy ways for people to Smurf and be toxic.
If there is only bots left abandoning as killer should absolutely give them the win at that point as if they had 4K’d for mmr purposes. The way it’s currently is set up means I’ll always be forced to play against bots unless I want to be punished.

Hens proved that this system can be abused, even with the 8-kick limit in place. It wasn't the survivors holding the killer hostage, it was the other way around, since he locked down 4 gens with Ghoul for 10+ minutes. They tried all they could, but to no avail. And as soon as the surrender option came up, he left the game, and the survivors could not do anything about that. They were stuck being unable to finish the last gens.

Would you expect survivors to surrender a match they are winning?Back in the days of Overbrine, I was part of a few matches where we as a soloq beat the gen holder, but it took 40+ minutes. If BHVR had given me an option to get out well before that, absolutely I would have taken it.
If you don't want it, don't use it, but I suspect most people will take the opportunity to move on.
12 -
Ghoul doesn't have any capability to lock down gens, certainly not mechanically like old merchant or doctor
-14 -
This isn't a competitive game. The only meaningful end to a game is the amount of BP you get
If survivors were treated the same way as killers the entire role would be repeatedly nerfed to the ground with the exception of two perks that remain hard meta for a decade.
-16 -
If you held a three gen (which survivors have to massively screw up to even get into that position in the first place) for the length of an entire match...there's literally no reason why you shouldn't be able to win. At that point you've clearly outplayed them.
Don't three gen yourselves. This strat has been around for years and the counterplay is incredibly simple. Do the center gens first. It's that easy
-12 -
Oh wow, the first valid complaint on the entire thread. Congrats.
-19 -
I swear to God, most community complaints aren't even things that happen consistently. They're things that are technically possible that will happen in one of a million games
-9 -
Here we go guys! Killer isn't allowed to play with a strategy of ANY kind, or didnt you know?
-14 -
I dont know how often this has to be repeated - there are Killers who hold a 3-gen from the start. And if that happens, there is not much the Survivors can do. Because it does not matter WHAT they do. They can do the other 4 Gens, they can 99 all of them, they can not touch them at all. As long as not one of the Gens in the 3-gen is done, the Survivors cannot win.
The good thing is that 3-gens cannot be held for one hour anymore due to the Gen-kick limit. But they can be held for 10 minutes.
16 -
So when you abandon you do not get the BP bonus "No One Escaped" which would be the indicator that you killed all four survivors. Your Devout Emblem does not become Iridescent and your BP doesn't increase.
This is inline with what the abandon system is supposed to do. You lose match progress and addons. You keeep Bloodpoints and Emblems. It is not a win, it's a give up button. Where I'm from, giving up is not a win it's the first loser.
So any killers here saying you should win automatically after stalling for 10 minutes. No. While you held off survivors for 10 minutes you failed to kill them and instead raised the white flag of surrender. If your castle is being seized do you win after lasting for so long or when your enemy gives up?
For survivors saying this is an automatic win for the killer. No. This is not a win for them or you. You both lost. Yeah you "died" according to the end screen but that is purely cosmetic as Mandy has pointed out. I will tell you right now that icon won't be an escape icon once it's fixed. That would cause the opposing side to start one of these crying threads and we can do this all over again.
So yeah, I don't know what you all were expecting from this feature but in the end of the day it's a give up clause to the contract you signed by pressing Ready. Not an auto-win feature.

Doctor better at 3-genning than Ghoul???? XDDD
2 -
maybe an abandon mechanic for survivors if the killer hasn’t hooked anyone for 10 mins? Ya know since they’re not trying to progress the match on their objective.
Killers main objective is killing survivors right?
14 -
From what I can tell surrender option is for survivor benefit whether they are slugged or if killer uses it. I'm curious what the anti hiding will be... No idea what killer would surrender when the anti hiding comes into play. bit of luck it will save me from being in a match for 1 hour and allow me to get the win 😊
-10 -
You did have the option to get out of that... By being killed. But it doesn't seem like you wanted to get out of it because it lasted 40min
-8 -
That would be negative behavior and both against the principles of the game and this forum.
10 -
Another sadako 2.0 answer?
"Just grab a lose bro"4 -
Not really... You could very easily have "messed up a chase" and got caught by the killer to move on. even if you don't admit to it in the forums you surly can see my point that you did in fact have a way out penalty free if you chose to use it but the fact you didn't proves my point that no one winning a match will surrender....you didn't even when you could have.
-9 -
But the survivors willing to be rats for an hour aren't neurotic?
-2 -
There was a video that got posted the other day where some toxic ass survivor decided to hold the match hostage and hide for 30 minutes +. The entir match was recorded and posted. No one ever talks about stuff like that. No, its allways the killer that is the piece of crap. the poor survivors can do no wrong.
-5 -
Could I have disguised getting out of the game? Yes, that doesn't make it any less against the rules (or just generally wrong). The difference is that if BHVR was okay with it, if they had an option that was 'we understand, this isn't fun, you can leave now' I would have taken it. I didn't stay in the match because I cared about winning, it definitely wasn't worth the time investment, I stayed in because there was no rule option to otherwise end the game.
Instead I did what players are supposed to. I expressed my dissatisfaction here and in surveys, switched to playing a lot more killer, and overall played the game considerably less as Overbrine became more common. It seems a lot of people agreed with me as BHVR did move away from that meta.
4 -
Exactly, survivors do this surprisingly frequently in my matches when I get 2k by the time they done 2 or 3 gens. The last 2 are not willing to risk being caught doing the last gens so they hide. Until the anti hiding measures come in the Devs solution is not punish survivors doing this but to allow the killer to abandon after 10min punishing the killer in doing so. it makes no sense at all.
-7 -
That's exactly what I'm doing, expression my dissatisfaction except instead of switching to survivor I have my own method of dealing with the situation as killer, if survivors are not happy with my method they can complain to bhvr if they wish😊
-8 -
That's actually hilarious, i love it. Imagine playing repeatedly with the sole intention of abandoning the game and you're actually just handing yourself loss after loss 😭🤣
6 -
Don't know where this was implied but if it makes you feel better I also feel like I could count the amount of survivors who willingly would play out a one hour game on one hand.
10 -
Lucky for some lol I lost count how many do it in my matches. Few months ago it was almost every match that I was able to get 2 kills. Last 2 would hide for as long as possible and in many cases would result in servers closing because I can't find them.
-3 -
"hmm Hens and Otz did this against a specific team of braindread surv players on a specific map with a very specific setup, that means we need to go back to letting survs hide with no consequences"
screw everything about OP
-10 -
Why doesn't the match end after all the remaining survivors have surrendered?
I don't understand why a killer should give up if there are only bots left in the game and lose blood points. It would be logical if, after the survivors surrender, the killer would receive blood points for the number of hangings he could make, after which the match would automatically end.
The same goes for survivors and generators.
1 -
I'm confused how is this bad when it's giving y'all the option to leave a game early after being tormented by a killer doing the gen kick strategy which isn't even most killers and the survivors still get to keep their badges. Lol, y'all find anything to complain about.
-10 -
If a killer hasn't hooked anyone for 5 minutes at that the game is already over.
1 -
It should be a win tho. If the last 2 Survivors hide in corners for 10 minutes and constantly pick up and drop items that shouldn't hand them the win unless I am willing to waste an hour.
-3 -
Good idea.
But it just shows how flawed the surrender system really is in its current form.
It's okay for slugs, but that generator criteria needs to be looked at. Perhaps changed from non-completed generators to no progress at all for 10 minutes.7 -
Did you know what "old" means? which means pre update, before the changes, with old regression, all those things
Yes, doctor was capable of absolutely stalling gens, mechanically
-4 -
Yeah, even with only 2 people and one in chase while other in a gen, we can easily finish 3 gens in 5 minutes period
I can't even understand the point of survivor abandoning those situation unless they are hiding in corner, repeatedly entering locker just to waste time of killers
-2 -
If the killer is literally throwing the ENTIRE game to hold a three gen for ten entire minutes, they're getting nothing out of it at all. There's no reason to ever do this.
It's just as I said. Y'all find something that's TECHNICALLY possible but will never happen in a real game to get mad at. It's the same exact thing as survivors hiding for thirty minutes to BM in one in a million games, except for the fact that that was possible for just about a decade while the abandon feature isn't even a year old.
Y'all. Are. Sad.
-11 -
The fact that this got downvoted at all says it all lmfao
Survivors did and do commonly hide for minutes at a time once they know they can't win. But a killer playing from the start to do basically the same thing, getting far less BP and wasting even more time for no reason...that's the problem?
It's deadass just people wanting something to be mad at.
-8 -
Quite literally yes. Tier three is a much better staller than simple mobility
-8 -
It was called a surrender option. If the killer "surrenders" its not a win, its a loss without playing out the rest of it. The survivors should be marked as they escaped (the ones that were alive at the time) and all bp should be awarded up to that point along with escape bp bonus. In addition, you should also get the progress on your challenges and such. Surrender means surrender. Just as when a survivor surrenders when they are all slugged. They dont get any progress beyond that point and dont earn progress on "escape" challenges. They are not marked as escaped and the killer is still free to hook, mori and whatnot with the 4 bots left in the game. Imagine if all 4 survivors surrendered and the killer would "lose" as if all survivors escaped.
This is how surrender should work. The one who surrenders, surrenders. They keep their progress to the point along with bp and everything but escape/kill progress does not count after surrender is initiated. The side that did not surrender is defaulted to winner along with all the spoils as if they had won.
Does bhvr really need to pick up a word lexion to re-read what "surrender" means?6 -
yeah why not, that way if people are at least wanting to try to beat the 3 gen they can most certainly try, and it only gets closed for people not trying at all all. Good catch on your end too!

And apparently the Devs have made this toxic hiding a legit tactic by making it a possible win condition for survivors. Hide for ages and there is a chance the killer will surrender.
-8 -
they are introducing an anti hide mechanic. What are you on about?
8 -
True but until they do, they have made it a legit tactic for survivors. Why not introduce the anti hiding first? Without it they have made it a possible win condition for survivors with no draw backs
-7 -
if anyone abandons it should just be a net zero across the board for both sides for mmr.
6 -
Ok so if it's a net 0 across the board it's still given survivors a legit way to essentially sabotage the killer. What's preventing a survivor for being petty hiding for 10min with the intention of bringing the killer down with them? If a survivor knows they can't do gens and knows they will lose MMR when they are caught it's possible they could end the match by tempting the killer to abandon so the survivor feels they are not the only ones losing MMR. If a survivor is toxic enough to hide for over half hour they are definitely toxic enough to try bringing the killer down with them.
-5 -
it’s funny but then it’s not because they’re just devolving into lower brackets to bully people even less capable, good bye new players.it would be funnier to push them up to nothing but swat teams, I’m sure even swat would get tired of them though.
3 -
how is it bringing anyone down if it’s a net zero on both sides? Neither move up or down.
