I think a "lite" version of Windows of Opportunity should be introduced in the basekit of survs

I've noticed that in the last years, Dead By Daylight changed.

shifting to a more chase/looping playstyle and discouraging the "hiding" playstyle.

i think this is overall better for the game as it is more engaging this way and fun for both roles, but i think that new players maybe should be helped a little, they don't start with Windows Of Opportunity in their inventories, a perk that in my opinion is almost mandatory for Solo Q survs and new players.

So i was wondering if it could be a good idea to introduce the always useful pallets and windows aura reading as basekit, after nerfing its range to 20 metres. the perk itself could expand the range of the basekit aura reading to the current 24/28/32 metres.

I think this could be a very good QoL for the game and it wouldn't advantage SwF and veteran survivors.

I'm not sure about this. When I was newer to the game, I put WoO on all the time. I felt like I couldn't function without it. And it did help me to understand better where pallets and windows were. But it also made me blind to the environment.

The first time I took that perk off my build, I realized I was much better at understanding what resources I could work with, instead of just running to the nearest yellow thing. I got a lot better at chase as a survivor once I stopped using WoO. Now that I have more experience, that same perk is useful in a new way, making it possible to loop more effectively, not getting as easily caught in a tough spot.

Though admittedly, I essentially never run Windows anymore, I do think it's useful. But it's also probably helpful for at least some people to not use it :)

Yeah, that's really not something I want. I have stopped using that perk for a good reason.

It's simply boring for me. I didn't need to think at all about the game, just run after yellow…

This is buff overall for survivors, which I don't think is needed. SoloQ needs a buff, not SWF. I would much rather see survivor aura reading from kindred, because that perk makes soloQ so much better and it's not that good for full SWF.

Having guaranteed info for looping would be pretty broken without a cost of something like a perk slot. Basekit would not be a good idea. The perk alone can extend chases for several minutes once survivors start using resources.

This would be a VERY bad idea simply because of the information it gives. Survivors already got basekit teamwide info on what their doing and their progress on it. If you cant loop a map just use windows or better yet trial by error.

Why should the survivors get basekit windows (even if a lite version of it) when killers cant even see hookstates let alone have any base game gen regression (survivors have base gen progression)

Something like that would be okay if pallets/windows weren't so interconnected. Right now safeties are so close together and so plentiful that they basically form a safety highway, especially if you know exactly where to run next with WoO. Against the weaker killers, by the time enough of a deadzone is created for it to matter, the gens are already finished with plenty of resources to spare (hence the reason that comp strat is just predrop everything). At the moment, WoO reduces the danger of being chased by a respectable amount and should at least require a perk slot (an activation condition and time limit wouldn't hurt either).

I'd say nearly every aura perks should be basekit with toned down or not toned down versions, pretty much all the swfs are coordinated enough to not have any of those anyways

We don't need the perk as basekit. BHVR should just add Clown and Kate to the base game. They're original and old, so there's no reason they shouldn't be available when people start playing for the first time.

I still want an add-on for maps that shows discovered windows and pallets. Also a brown map variant.

You are thinking about the game from the perspective of a New Survivor that is good.

Now think of a New Killer who is playing against new Survivors who have free aura reading of all pallets in 20m.

Doing this would be like giving all Killers "lite" Lightborne - unneeded and doesn't really teach them to play the game and handle things they need to learn to handle. A slight basekit WoO would just encourage the most boring possible chase style - Hold W - and not actually trying to think in chase or showing any skill.

I think maybe this is too far. I think newer surv players need a mode where they can just load into a map and mess around. Like the one in the tutorial section, but with no killer and no bots. Doesn't even need to be a real map, could just be a barebones area where a Frankenstein's monster of tiles show up. That way they don't rely on their eyes, they rely on their brain and their knowledge of the tiles.
