There's plenty wrong with the new rift system...

But by far the worst is being FORCED to play the role you don't want to play or enjoy because progression is tied behind arbitary ever increasing role specific quests.

Nothing will bore and tire out people faster than being forced to play a certain way. You should be able to complete the rift on one role only.

Between all the other problems and this i've pretty much lost the will to really play the game. I'd rather play other games than play the role im not interested in playing.

Half of the rift quests in tomes are locked behind one of the sides, and even crazier, many of them were locked behind killers or survivors you would have to purchase just to do that specific challenge. This is nothing new. At least the new quest system can be done as a killer or survivor of your choice and not being forced to "get x number of teleport downs with Singularity" or "Escape twice as Jane Romero" to get significant rift progress.

Difference is, those were a few games at most, heck you could ignore most of the old rift mission entirely. I was usually done before or during the 3rd page while ignoring most of the survivor ones.

Having to do the new milestones is ALOT more games of a role i dont particularly enjoy. You will just get people who don't care about the actual game and just tick off requirements and then not care about the outcome because we're being forced to do it.

The milestones, unlike some old tome challenges require active and meaningful participation in the trial. You can no longer 'just tick off requirements" without seriously playing the game. You can try to farm some of them (hooks, gen kicks, heals and gens) but since you also need a lot of kills or escapes, you can't afford to not care about the outcome.

This isn’t entirely true in my case & from others whom I spoke with. Since the new rework of quests there’s been plenty of games I’ve played since that had at least one or two players not doing what is required in the trail… STILL. Instead of it encouraging players to help the team out, it is still hard to solo queue which is another aggravating thing that for whatever reason, the devs choose not to mess with. These quest are on a larger scale and can be easily done within a days worth of playing, if not within a few hours of matches.
Maybe it’s a start to help players that normally won’t help during trials? I don’t know, but from others opinions & personally mine, it’s all still the same. You have players that in fact do just tick off the required quests and not take the match seriously.

You have actually no proof that someone is foced to play both roles to finish the rift, cause you still lack by far too mucn necssary information for such a conclusion.

For me it's also the fact that, for both roles, it actively encourages running only meta stuff (since, so far, "quests" of all kinds are generic stuff that don't really require specific perks but are just very grindy) and, more importantly, it encourages sweating for the wins on both sides to advance the milestone challenges fast enough to have a shot at finishing the Rift with time to spare (as shards through normal gameplay has been drastically reduced and is also no longer displayed for some unknown reason).

Killers will play more aggressively to get more kills per game, Survivors will disregard their teammates & side objective to focus doing even more gens in order to escape more and do more gens per game. I've been left to die on first hook, and saw Survivors leave one of their teammates to die on first hook as Killer, more often in the last week than the previous year.

Side-note, I already disliked the "Anti-3-gen", I think it does more than it's supposed to and also makes a few perks (and perk combos even more so) downright detrimental to use, and is unfortunate to friendly farming Killers (a dash of wholesomeness in a sea of sweat and toxicity) but with needing to explode gens 100+ times, the "Anti-3-gen" is straight up limiting progress on that quest per game XD.
