Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Frank Stone as a skin is massively disappointing

It's honestly so sad that the first original killer to be introduced beyond the walls of Dead by Daylight itself… becomes nothing but a skin for Trapper.

It was a huge opportunity to bring in a chapter of characters whose story the player base got to experience first-hand. The game didn't live up to some people's expectations, but that doesn't mean it was completely awful, and a whole game is still way more than any other original chapter ever got and probably ever will get. Frank Stone in particular had an awesome design and presence when he was there, regardless of the story.

The game's story and a Twitter post made by the official TCoFS account even alluded that it'd be introduced to DbD as a chapter, so it feels like the plug got pulled when it didn't do so well.

If this was the plan from the beginning though, TCoFS should have just used characters from DbD, instead of telling a separate story with a different cast linked to the original game by nothing but references and the Entity itself. Frankly, nobody cares about the Entity or setting nearly as much as the characters they get to play and connect with.

And survivors supposedly getting absolutely nothing is another thing. I'm just glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. What a huge disappointment.

To be fair… what would Frank Stone's power even have been? Is there something in The Casting of Frank Stone that leads anyone to believe he'd have been a unique different power?

yes hes has a power that has to do with cameras. he can teleport through film it seems. i dont want another teleport killer but also can be trapped in film?

I'm not sure how they'd make that unique in game though…

they could figure it out, and I GUARENTEE they already have.

he was meant to be a killer. so they already got it figured out.

I guess, why didn't they put him in the game as one and made him a skin instead?

    (Rewriting this from another post)

They would need to fill in some blanks on his power to translate him into DbD, that's true, but that's equally true for a lot of licenced characters such as Pyramid Head. Plus, he does have things to go off of - he has a giant chest maw, he can absorb souls into his body, and there's other elements from the game such as the camera.

Personally, I'd make him a killer who's very scary to get too close to, like Myers, Bubba, or Oni conceptually, but a more modern take since there hasn't been a killer like them released for a long time. I think it'd suit his brutish portrayal in TCoFS. That said, I haven't thought out a whole power.

a ruined reputation from the game, is 100% the reason.. even tho people would still buy it like any other chapter

I've never heard of this character as I'm sure other people haven't either.

Going on previous posts it doesn't sound like the game he was in was a smash hit which makes it a gamble fot devs to invest a lot of money in a full licence.

Looking at suggestions for his power:

Teleport - they are already killers who can teleport and using his camera is very similar to Sadako and the TVs.

Chest maw - Dredge mori exists. What would be different?

There's so many killers now that I think it has to be something or someone unique, which is getting harder to achieve, and going to generate money to cover the licence fee.

The Casting of Frank Stone was a story-driven game made by Supermassive Games in partnership with Behaviour, set in the world of Dead by Daylight. This isn't a licence, this is Behaviour's own character, who doesn't just resemble or fit as a killer from Dead by Daylight - he represents it.

As for your points about powers, at face value that could probably be said about a lot of killers. Like how Plague, Nemesis and Wesker all infect survivors, but each infection functions differently and has a different purpose.

adding this here as well. It doesnt seem Like je was meant to be a skin for Trapper (legendary or not, it is still just a Skin)

He had plenty more going for him. The Camera as as Killer specific item for survivors, invisibility (visible through cam), getting slowed down by the cam, some form of teleportation (which is already used in plenty of killer and will be used in different forms again)

One thing I do not remember from the game is him using traps, especially in the Champion form. Frank Stone as a human does make kinda sense as a Trapper Skin as he doesnt really have any identifying powers but just using very specific tools and weapons for his victims - so it’s not really transferable into DbD and Trapper still fits - and we got his mask as a Trapper Skin already.

I think it would be very easy, unique, and fun to apply the camera used against his ghost form earlier in the game, a special item you have to hold down and aim at him, similar to a flashlight but you go into first person. As for how that could interact with his power, there's so, so many things they could do.

Actually, @JusticeForFrankStone, that could be a cool way to reverse Singularity's mechanic and Ghostface's Reveal mechanic. Maybe he begins demanifested and Undetectable like Sadako, and as you set up and look through cameras, he gets Revealed the way Ghostface does.

Personally I'm really hoping they were trolling. I was so excited to one day get The Champion as his own killer.
