Inventory Overload: A Call for Desired Item Management in Dead by Daylight

In Dead by Daylight, as we strive to survive or hunt, our inventories quickly fill with a vast number of items. Many of these, like Bloodpoint offerings, accumulate excessively and aren't always desired at the moment. This uncontrolled accumulation can become frustrating and often inefficient for players.

Currently, there's no direct way to get rid of these unwanted items, leading to a massive storage of elements that are rarely used or are of low utility for a player's preferred gameplay strategy. What's the point of hoarding hundreds of common Bloodpoint offerings when our goal is to level up a specific character or get higher rarity items?

The Need for New Inventory Management Options

Creating a system that allows players to actively manage these items would not only improve quality of life but also add a much-welcome layer of strategy and customization. We propose three key options:

  1. Discard (Delete) Items:
    • Inventory simplification: Allowing players to delete unwanted items, such as low-value Bloodpoint offerings they'll never use, or flashlight items they already have in excess. This would clean up the inventory and make navigation easier.
    • Player control: Giving players the freedom to decide what to keep and what not to, instead of forcing passive accumulation.
  2. Sell Items for Bloodpoints:
    • Value conversion: Unwanted items could be sold for Bloodpoints. While the amount per item might be small for balance purposes, it would be a valuable way to convert inventory "clutter" into a useful currency for Bloodweb progression.
    • Reduced passive grinding: This would help players get the Bloodpoints they need for other characters or perks without having to play extra matches just to grind.
  3. Upgrade Items:
    • Resource optimization: This would be the most innovative and strategic option. It would allow combining several items of lower rarity or value to create one of higher quality. For example, five common Bloodpoint offerings could be transformed into an uncommon one. Or several common flashlights into a rare one.
    • Incentive for strategic accumulation: Instead of seeing low-tier items as junk, players would have an incentive to collect them with the goal of upgrading them, adding a new dimension to Bloodweb and inventory management. This could apply to items, add-ons, and even the offerings themselves.

Benefits for the Community and the Game

Implementing these options would not only solve the inventory overload problem but also empower players with greater control over their resources. It would reduce the feeling of passive "grinding," where useless items accumulate, transforming it into active and meaningful management. Ultimately, Dead by Daylight aims to be a rewarding experience, and offering tools to optimize in-game resources is a crucial step towards that goal.

I've wanted an option to discard stuff in my inventory for years now. You get so much stuff from levelling up that it's just not realistic to expect to use up everything you get, which sucks for people who want clean inventories.

With the recent push for quality of life stuff, I feel like it'd be a great time for BHVR to start looking into a feature like this.

I suggested years ago that we should be able to sell back unwanted items.
