Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Would a permanent 1v1 gamemode be accepted by the community?

Face front it seems like it wouldn't change anything, if you don't like it you could just not play it, but then again, the queues are already pretty bad, a permanent gamemode could compromise it even more, so what would the majority think about this?

Like what would it look like? the more you describe the better BHVR might implement it.

I would totally accept a 1v1 gamemode. Ideally, you'd be able to select a Killer (alongside one Killer chase perk) and a Survivor (alongside two Survivor chase perks) and queue against whoever else chose the same Killer as you. It could automate the start and end of the chase and remove any of the extra unnecessary props on the map (Generators, Hooks, Totems, the Hatch, Exit Gates) so that the entire match is just focused on the chase. Although queue times would depend on the popularity of your Killer, that would be balanced out by the matchmaker only needing to find two opposing players of similar MMR (perhaps a seperate MMR for this mode would work).

I would love it, personally. I think it would be a huge boon for content creation as well.

Simple, you could make it no perks, or adapt 1 perk killer, 2 perks survivor.

Then first you play survivor/killer with count down down that let survivor start like 1-2 seconds sooner, then when survivor gets downed sides switch.
    Whoever got longer chase wins.

I would love such mode and would probably play that a lot. I am too lazy to deal with custom mode and I want to play for BP…

Best would be probably to have players use no perks, while both need to play same killer… or make it M1 only

why? what would it accomplish? 1v1 doesn't prove anything balance wise and you can do it in custom so why add an entirely separate mode?

i'm not trying to put you down or anything it's questions that need to be asked since it's in the game already

    To make it more accessible…
Sure you can do it in custom, but you need to know players who are willing. Also no BP.

I would personally like to just queue and try to compare my chase with randoms. It has nothing to do with balance, but I think it would be best way to practice chases.

well if you need people i'm pretty sure reddit or the forum would join idk if they have a discord

if you want bp play the normal mode and if you want to compare chases with randoms you can do that on the normal mode or custom

this is just accessibility for it's own sake which is honestly just wasting resources that could go to something else

my advice to you is try making friends on Reddit and the forums or seeing if they have a dbd discord and asking there

With how often we have changes on PTB that needs to be reverted, I don't worry about wasting resources…

yeah I've been thinking about a mode where its just chase, chase, chase and using it to help killer queues feel less awful would be ideal. Although it should be something you opt into rather than something triggered automatically.

Yeah it can be in settings to opt out, plus you can just cancel it and leave manually when waiting or just stay in, it wont give bloodpoints just allow chasing and trying out strats with real people not bots.

    Makes it fun while waiting

Like pallets respawn and such after certain time, if they feel like it they can make perk profiles hotswappable without leaving match, not sure if possible.

true but you already have everything at your fingertips now all you need to do is find friends or just ask randoms instead of having a ptb to do the same thing

You can already do this in customs, why would we want a whole game mode for it?

I didnt make this post to convince bhvr to implement it (even tho i would like it), i just wanted to see the general opinion. But since you asked, it would be a little "playground" map where it is slightly randomized (different seeds so it wouldnt be the same map every time. Killer and survivor would start on the same spot every time, could be shack or a shack like structure and every time a survivor would be far away from the killer (like 24 or 32 meters) their aura would be shown to the killer and the same for the opposite to induce chase and make it impossible to be a hiding game, and every time the survivor got downed it would automatically reset to opposite roles. After both played killer the one that survived the most time would win 1 outta 2, who ever wins 2 sets wins the match. It could have a little rank system since its way easier to define as it is a 1v1. Killers would have different balancing, like, trapper would have X amount of slots for abilities, blight would have Y (Y obviously being less). These abilities would be nerfed or buffed variations from already existing perks, like brutal strength. There could be 5 or 6 abilities to choose from, same for survivors. The idea for these abilities came from the 2v8 mode since they added that cause perks would be really problematic, and since many perks would have no use on 1v1, adding these abilities that focus on chase would only make sense. The lobby would be slightly different with the killer and the survivor side by side. Now of course, this is my take on how it could go and no one on bhvr is prob never seeing this, and if anyone ever does i highly doubt theyll take this into consideration considering the many things they have to go through and since there is no demand for it like 2v8 had, and even if there was, it is possible to do it on customs so it would not be their priority unfortunately. Pretty creative in my opinion tho

Accessibility and introduction for new players that dont know the existence of the discord servers. Also making it official would increase the variety on game modes keeping the average player playing for longer. It would be fast paced and queues for it would be instantaneous since there is no killer or survivor queue for 1v1, both are playing both, effectively adding a fast paced game mode. Would be like getting in clash royale to play a quick match (not quite but you know what i mean)

1v1s could be a good way for new players to practice the game.

You get some experience as Survivor and some experience as Killer, both roles. With a heavy emphasis on chase times, you ignore objectives entirely and just focus on lasting as long as you can within a chase.

    Honestly, I like the idea.

I am not interested in a 1v1 mode for this game.
