Why does the PTB perform better than Live Server ?
I noticed that the last PTB with The Walking Dead and other previous ptb worked so much better than the live game, I was wondering what cause that ?
During the PTB I could play in ultra, 60fps, antialiasing and stay at 60 fps without a single freeze. But then i returned to the live game and even when playing in Low, 60fps and no antialiasing my game go from 60 to 12 fps, I get teleported, so I can't really play properly and get huge freeze. So why that ? Is that because PTB server are different compare to the live game ? The number of players ? I'm very curious

They said they did an Engine Upgrade (or something like that, I dont remember it fully) on the PTB, which is why the PTB was so big.
If you had a better performance on the PTB, it is likely that you will have it on the Live Servers once the Update drops.

Thanks for the answer, but after looking at the change log I couldn't find something about a Engine change ? I know they went from UE4 to UE5 the last past months but nothings for the 9.1.0 ptb, but I guess we will see soon enough if there is a big change in term of performance ! Again, thank for the answer Aven_Fallen

Hopping in here as I can confirm that the larger-than-usual install size for the PTB was due to an update to the engine. I'd love to hear about your experiences with game performance (and any differences you feel) once this makes it to Live with the next update :)

Hello ThatRyanB ! Thanks for confirming the engine change ! I will certainly give you my feedback on the performance change that I could encounter in the live game ! :)

sorry to let you know that yes it will be a larger than normal download again, nothing we can do about that with the engine update unfortunately :(

You're welcome! And speaking to those performance dips you're getting on Live, that feels odd to me so I'd love to flag this to the team so they can look into it.
If you have a chance (and have the Player Logs handy), it would be super helpful to share this as a bug report and include both a Player Log from your time on the PTB, as well as a Player Log from your time playing on Live.

For the players logs, I suppose you talk about DeadByDaylight.log ? But how can I see the PTB logs ?

so, to do a small update, many updates later : After the update went live, my performance increased, I changed a few stuff on my pc to help, but i was in a stable 60fps, sometime it was 55, but still way better. BUT, after the new update, the 9.2.2, my game returned to the state of bad performance, so between 20 and 50fps, which is sad since I could play in ultra again and be at 60fps, don't know what changed between the 9.2.1 and the 9.2.2

Performance fine for me (stable 90 fps possible, yet personal preference keeping me 30 fps on killer and 60 on survivor) yet some glitchs with character twitching on place and sudden packaging loss still a thing. Sometimes character can slow down for this reason
