anyone find killer unappealing to play these days?
im talking about the bugs not the balance
so many killers are bugged its borderline unappealing to play not to mention the horrible rubberbanding that has been going on lately
from the fact that sadako has been legally blind and has buggy tv icons for i think months now? to vector bouncing off to the fact pig traps literally refuse to trigger because a survivor is searching the box (yes that's a bug) to wesker getting denied grabs with his power and so many more
i know im a nobody and me simply quitting won't effect the game but tbh the fact dbd is in the 8th spot in steam charts and a buggy mess along with the rise of cheaters again is just a shame…
also not sure if this is the rubberbanding or something else but u can miss a survivor while u are literally right behind them or while vaulting even tho it should have hit
ngl…call me bais but why do i feel like bugs that effect the survivors negatively always get fixed instantly while killers always takes months (nemi was able to hit survivor inside lockers with his power was almost instantly patched, while wesker was still able to softlock himself using his power in 2 v 8, meanwhile finess is still bugged )
its feels unfair sometimes….
not to mention some of you side with cheaters because someone DARED to play a killer u dislike
like dude…i understand u hate the killer but siding with a loser that payed for cheats its just another whole level of idioticty and u will get banned since u are helping a cheater

I love playing as a Killer, but I mostly play against bots nowadays because of how miserable and survivor-toxicity-encouraging the gameplay became.

I'm playing on both sides and It's difficult to tell on which side I have more hours. But I would guess I'm 50-50 surv-killer. As my Kate has 2 more prestige levels than my Plague which is not big difference. Back to the topic. If anything what I don't like about playing as killer it's:
a) Swf. Bhvr has to stop pretending deaf and finally balance game around discord teams. But to make it less hard for Solo players that don't have friends, make Kindred basekit. Then balance every killer with a thought he's playing against 4 man swf discord squad. Because it's day and night experience. Also kindred would help new players to learn the game.
b) Invisible walls. On most maps I met situation Anna's and Plague (only ranged killers I play), sometimes hit invisible wall with their projectiles.
c) Spirit. Maybe it's my hearing problems, but on some maps (during chase) it's confusing when you hear sound from right headphone, but survivor went left.

Literally rubber banding has made me miss some of the easiest shots ever just because a survivor teleports behind me. hopefully the new engine upgrades make it better so we can actually start thinking about balance.

swf is probably the hardest thing to balance in this game, because nerfing them would nerf soloQ twice as hard as u mentioned and also the whole idea of basekit kindreded is not exactly need anymore, if the killer is near within the kindred range u will get anti camp no?
invisble walls and hitboxes within certain holes have been on the rise for no reason, its actually becoming a major annoyance when you play deathslinger or any killer that relies on those smoll interactions
and i agree im very sure spirit is bugged, i been playing her a lot lately and beside the fact that survivors go mute sometimes, scratch marks also tend to dissapear even if the survivor is still running (can track them from grass )

try playing nurse, u sometimes just randomly go back in time or teleport to somewhere u weren't aiming for its actually so weird im not even sure if this server sided or just the game

yeah, im getting burnt out on killer recently.
surv is way less annoying to play because you need to do so much less, just know the game well.

As for nurse it's not a bug. It's game anti collision. You can easily test it out. You can't blink in area where your model ends up in textures. To prevent this from happening, game cancels your blink.

Some questions:
What killers have significant bugs now? I see you mentioned some examples, but I haven’t seen any of those in my gameplay nor have I heard about those anywhere else.
Who is siding with cheaters?
I guess I just don’t see anything that you’re referring to as a problem on the killer side. I play killer and it’s felt pretty ok to me with the exception of occasionally getting matched against SWF teams on comms that play super efficiently and get all the gens done in like 5 minutes.

I have experienced a few bugs.
All ranged killers are either being bugged or nerfed atm, probably not an intentional nerf but one very much affecting them. For instance, Shiny Sylveon (a p100 deathslinger) recently made a video about the broken collisions on a lot of maps and needlessly placed invisible walls making his power absolutely terrible on some maps. I play xenomorph and springtrap, and I can say that xeno's tail attack has felt off for a while now but it's hard to articulate why (but easy to adjust to for a xenomorph main) And springtrap gets hit with many of Deathslingers issues with invisible walls and collision (xeno does too, just not as hard).
Also Deathslinger sometimes doesn't play the aim animation from the survivor POV so it's hard to zone.
Victor sometimes slides straight off a survivor, just watch a recent Lynxi upload.
When knight places down jailer, sometimes jailer takes multiple seconds to actually activate a hunt leading to the term, drunk jailer. ZM pixie talks about this sometimes.
Vecna's mage hand sometimes gets bugged so survivor's can just drop it instantly after a pickup.
Ghoul currently also gets stuck on a lot of weird collision surfaces
Do I really have to explain houndmaster?
Just because you don't experience them doesn't mean these (and more) killers aren't bugged, and there are more constantly being introduced.

adding to deadman's reply, there is also the fact sadako is blind on indoor maps while demanifested and the little icon above her tvs are perma stuck there making it hard to know which tv is on or off
pig traps will not go off if u are searching a jigsaw box and will stay like that until u touch a gen (meaning u can keep searching jigsaw boxes even if your timer runs out rendering the traps useless )
wesker simply refuses to grab survivors with his power sometimes
also scratch marks just randomly dissapearing when using the killer power (no clue why they reset)
cenobite power can sometimes just go straight though a survivor
and huntress hatches sometimes just don't anything ( you hear the sound but nothing happens)
not that survivors are free, a lot of vaults are broken, one of the vaults in azrov resting place the one with the 2 buses is straight up broken u can't vault it as a survivor this bug can also trigger in other windows
xeno can straight up ignore flashlights if they cancel entering a tunnel ( i mean its kinda lore accurate with the fact they got no eyes lol)
some people side with cheaters because you playing a killer that they don't like (nurse or ghoul) its honestly really pathetic…
not talking about sutble cheaters but more of the ones that are flying around instantly popping gens blinding from narnia, you know that kind

im not very familiar with nurse, but that's not what i meant, i meant i would teleport to a normal area, let's say from the top of coal tower to the bottom and the game would either put me somewhere else or simply put me back up, even tho the teleport was normal, its a lil weird to explain

For me it's just the queue times, and sometimes server hiccups messing with the killers I play (Unknown). Mainly its the queue times though that puts me off. I have to draw on the side while waiting.

I understood you. You can check it in practice mode. This thing happens when place you chose to blink doesn't have space to put Nurse model there. It's collision problem.

Queue times have not been fun. Aren’t we suppose to be getting an ETA or a waiting indicator for specific queues and then play while you queue?
Yes the bugs are awful. Very frustrating for killers. We need more long term fixes for bugs, better stability. Hot fixes need to be pushed out more frequently.That is my biggest gripe with the game is the bugs that affect gameplay. I get no game is perfect. I do, but we need a better way.

I play a lot of Huntress but it's been increasingly annoying to play her since at least a few times a match a hatchet will hit a survivor, hit sfx and blood vfx appear but it deals no damage. This type of stuff has been in the game for years, I remember back in the day something similar would happen with Billy's chainsaw too.

killer is okay to play as long as you’re alright with not winning every single game. There are things that just don’t add up. Pallet stuns that feel you’re being pulled into them again. The fact that survivor movement is much more precise compared to bigger killers the whole constantly screaming survivor meta is annoying and the most obnoxious right now are flashlights again. I counter them sure but what’s with the obsession with trying to blind from the side? You can’t do that with a real flashlight.

I have been playing both lately and have noticed that maps need to balanced first and foremost and cleaned up. They have actually balanced survivors around tunneling. Slugging and camping.

Well given the current state the game is for survivor side no nerfs for survivors/swf is justified. As solo survivor I can go 10 games without escape. I argue the game is already balanced that killers have good chance agains't swf:s.
I have won many teams better than me in skill and those teams I would not win let's say 2 years ago when many maps were much bigger and with more pallets. Buffing solo survivor should be priority now then see how killer side is affected. I been playing this game for years and remember when killer was actually hard before 6.1 update.

Yeah queque times are my biggest issue too at night time you might have to wait 5-10 minutes to find killer match. So how to get more survivors to play?

Not much simply because the killers I did play just got turned into mindless hold forward and use power. Skill expression removed in return of buffing base kit or because of complaining.

Yeah killer feels you have to do too much sometimes for me helps farming with last 2 survivors for example or playing survivor side to relax and not caring about the result. But I find survivor side more annoying if I actually try to win...

it'll probably improve a little this patch, then even more when more of phase 2 QoL goes through, so there is that to look forward to on killer side at least with more survivors playing.

I play way less killer these days due to the long queue times. I can get survivor matches within 10 seconds but killer can take 5-10 minutes depending on the time of day. Not really worth it atm.

Oh, it would be very easy to do. Give survivors in groups a stackable repair/healing/totem/exit gate speed penalty. So a two-stack would have (for example) a 20% slowdown to their action speed, while their solo q teammates would be at normal speed. Meanwhile, a 4 man would all be playing at (again, for example) a 40% repair/healing/totem/exit gate speed penalty.
I want to stress that the numbers I gave were for illustrative purposes only to make it easy to understand. They would probably be smaller if such a system were put in place.
The point is, it would slow down swfs. The more powerful the swf, the more powerful the slowdown, while any solo queues would be unaffected.
But survivors would cry that they're being "punished for playing with their fwiends!" so anything that actually nerfs swfs will never be implemented.

I want to agree on the point that playing killer is slowly becoming increasingly more difficult, and that the state of killer is currently a buggy mess. Yet somehow more than I have in the past I am enjoying killer. I wonder if it is partially due to the amount of sweaty and try hard survivors that I've been facing, as the satisfaction that I get from winning in these sorts of environments is immense. Of course, this is down to me being fairly skilled at the role, so I am still able to enjoy playing amongst the mess that it currently is.

its annoying when you try to win as solo q cuz you either need to rely on random number generator operated teammates or you need to play for hatch which is an incredibly boring experience.
but at this point i just go play SWF

I would really like to see Dejavu and Kindred basekit to make solo players vs swf players gap smaller. My point is lesser gap is, easier to balance.
Because currently power of "friendship" breaks the game.

basekit dejavu sounds like a bad idea, looking for gens is a form of pressure for the killer since u are wasting time
and for kindred, as i mentioned before doesn't it have the same range as the anti camp system? i genuinely don't see the appeal tbh, if the killer is loud u gonna hear them and kindred doesn't effect stealth killers, and this could create problems with shacks that have basement, it would make looping for killer a nightmare

It's not for anti-camp. It's to make Solo survivors understand who is going to unhook because sometimes nobody does and sometimes all 3 run towards it. As for anti camp… You can bring Open hands and make it up to 32m. But I very rarely see someone camping. And best strat against campers is genrush. Just do all gens and leave him with his 3 hooks.
Again it's all if we compare soloQ and swf.

Thank you. Maybe due to being poor in English I sometimes write it wrong, but main killers problem comes from difference between SWF and SoloQ powerlevel. Once devs buff SoloQ to swf level with for example Kindred and Dejavu, as SWF has it information from voice chat, it would be healthier for the game as it will reveal actual killer power level. Lower gap between solo and team = better for the game and easier to balance
Because currently it's hilarious. You ain't going to have 3-4k against good swf, and then you will destroy SoloQ and according to Devs it's somehow "good" because your killrate is around 50% and it's balanced.

I think kindrered have to be base kit. For sfw there are no value from this, they already have info, but for solo it’s kinda of information we lack of. And I’m talking about this as killer as well. Just remove killer aura reveal, and let survivors see each other when one survivor downed/hooked. That also helps to point on teammates who were doing nothing and then trying to defend themselves in endgame chat
As killer, I don’t find it bad. More chances for better positioning for those who already have a lot of issues with this….Definitely no dejavu base kit. Survivors already have enough gen efficiency, and if u good player u don’t let 3gen by lack of info anyway. This perk is vital on gen rush build or for new players only. Otherwise, make corrupt intervention base kit as well

yea im down with this idea, as long as the killer aura thingy is removed i really could see this being very helpful
instead of guessing if a survivor is going for the rescue or not we could have that but at the same time i could see it kinda of removing a bit of pressure from the killer side because now instead of the survivor guessing they would always know meaning they will stay on the gen instead of trying to rescue

I was thinking about playing Twins more but Victor bounced of survivors without injuring so I don't touch Twins now. Did they fix this bug? Anyway right now with how long you have to wait to play killer I only play survivor.

But the point is to properly balance killer side, you must equalize SWF and SoloQ. Otherwise it's never ending circle. Currently what's broken for SoloQ is piece of cake for SWF. Once you close this gap, you will receive proper numbers revealing actual killer power level and then we can speak about killers being equalised as survivor power level from game to game will be mostly the same

Yeah. No need in killer aura read, cause it kills many stealth killer and ruin strategy. But letting survivors see each other is fine.
They also can give opportunity to see the aura of your teammate within 10 meters if you are injured. I faced with a lot of situations where I have to waste time to get attention from injured survivor for letting me heal them.
SFW will find each other and insta hill in second anyway.
If devs reduce the barrier between solo and sfw, by providing information, I think it will also help killers. Because the developers will not make false conclusions and once again buff the already strongest group of players, nerf killers, etc. The latest patch essentially has perks that are only useful when you play with someone, and this is a big mistake in my eyes….

Out of my rotation, 3 killers are unusable rn or just bugged to oblivion.
Spirit because the quiet mode exists.
Houndmaster is bugged.
And Plague has this awful audio bug that is just chipping at my sanity.

I actually don't find many bugs or cheaters.
Last bug I remember was with singularity that the sound when you are in his cam constantly played.
Last cheater I remember was someone on farmhouse, she flew around a bit and made it sometimes harder to hook, but in the end she was pretty easy to down even if I couldn't hook her and didn't even softlock me xD
Ps: I have a blast playing huntress in a moment, my shots at moment are pretty good xD

Kindred yes but not deja vu. Maybe bond should be basekit as it let's you see teammates so you don't run killer to gen that is being fixed. It range could be limited more but essentially it gives only imformation that swf already has.

Well even agains't 4 man swf killers have over 50% kill rate so according to stats it's fine. Most swf aren't great either it's small percentage that are problem but they are also extremely skilled at the game.

I never said killers are useless vs swf. My main point is to properly balance killer and survivor experience, SoloQ must be adjusted to swf level. Otherwise you can't say what is actually balanced and what's not because power gap between two is too big. That's why everyone always complains about everything.
You can easily check it yourself. Swf vs SoloQ is day and night experience. And same goes against killers. In soloQ some killers look awfully difficult. And in SWF it's like. "Guys, X and Y are going to loop, Z is genrusher and I will bring support perks. Let's move on"
