Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

When is Forgotten Ruins getting a rework?

This map is super duper unbalanced. Way too small, way too punishing if you pop all gens in either the upstairs floor or the dungeon, and horrendous pallet and window spawns. Pls tell me you have plans to fix it 🙏

It should be a bit bigger, especially the upper part.

It's a neat idea on paper, but it has severe flaws.

make it bigger but don't remove it's one of the games only interesting maps I find the forest maps with one useless main building (the majority of maps) so boring so this one must be protected or made bigger

It'd probably be the first maps they've made bigger, if I recall correctly. Every other map rework has been about shrinking the maps. It'd be interesting to see how much bigger they'd make it.

I don't think it should be bigger that's not the biggest problem. The thing is this map is split in 2. One part of the map usually bottom is almost not used at all except for gens so only one part is played. Thanks to the unused part of the map other feels empty and small. Other thing is rotation between top and bottom is terrible where boths ways in are next to each other. The best thing for this map I think is to make it only one level first. If needed more changes later.

As there are already so many other things on the list i don´t think this one is getting anything soon.

This is one of the newer maps overall.

Aesthetically, this is probably my favorite map. I love all the different stuff in the dungeon. I don't really have any issues on it either, as either role. As a survivor running a gen build, I usually quietly get the three lower gens done without much issue, while my team and the killer are busy up top. As long as at least one other person is working gens alongside my lower ones, we usually do well. As a killer, if I remember to police those bottom gens, I do okay too. I think it's just a map that requires a little more awareness of what's happening where than some.

Totally agree, but if this map deserves a rework then so does Badham, Eyrie and Garden of Joy.

I wish they would at least give us an update on changes to some problematic maps. This map is so beautiful but so bad. The size, the resources and the placement of the portals. Literally everything is terrible.

    Soon, I hope.

Generally speaking I am not a fan of reworks in DBD. I think many good things were ruined when they received reworks. But Forgotten Ruins needs one, this map is so bad.

i remember last year during their reddit AMA there was a question about maps and the devs replied said the next maps on their to do list was GOJ, Midwich, badham (with a focus on main building), and swamp. so far from that list all that’s changed was a slight gameplay update on midwich and that’s pretty much it. no telling which map is up next for an update or anything. i think they need to do another “mapping the realm” initiative to gather more in depth information about the current maps and what the players decision is to make them better.

Half of the entire map pool of this game has been in need of a rework for years.

I think a very simple fix would be to make all the portals two-way.

Then you can still hold 3 gens in the map if you want, and it keeps its uniqueness, but survivors actually have resources at their disposal almost anywhere.

And on the flip side, you as killer can traverse the map easily, and the three gens with portals by them can be traveled to to catch someone off guard.

As Killer if you chase survivors downstairs too much you lose.

As Survivor if you don't do all the gens up top ASAP you lose

Awful map for both sides, the portals are really irritating and the layout is just confusing. It's like the lower area is a giant basement.

This map sucks for everyone. The downstairs is basically where killers go to throw the game. The upstairs is a barren wasteland with no resources. When I play on this map, I avoid the downstairs like the plague. I avoid it more than I do any other main building in the game.

You have to fix both of these things simultaneously or you end up making the most one-sided map in the game. If you make the downstairs more fair for killer, but don't fix the upstairs, then it becomes massively killer sided. If you fix the upstairs, but leave the downstairs as it is, then it becomes massively survivor sided.
