Do you feel stress when you play killer?
Do you genuinely feel stress when you play killer? I have like personal issues that affect my mental health that does give me stress when I play killer.
There are times when I have fun, and there are times when I feel too pressured in a way? I guess that’s why I prefer to play survivor a lot more.
Serious question: do you feel stress when you play killer?

Honestly I don’t know how killers feel stress when all they do is camp and tunnel

I don’t camp or tunnel whenever I play killer lmao

Depends. Playing killer is more stressful than survivor, but most rounds I don't get too worked up. When I do, it's usually because I'm just playing like #########.

Sure it can be frustrating. Honestly, you just get used to it. No matter what side you play, every match isn't going to have the same result.

No.

I usually play killer in waves. A few dozens matches during an evening or night. A kind of feel insecure the first match, maybe the second one too if I performaned poorly, but quickly get myself right by the 3rd one. After that any losses or salt from the survivors just bounce off my mind. At this point playing killer is highly enjoyable for me.

I used to feel stress when I was relatively new to the game. Nowadays I just feel either fun or boredom depending on how sweaty people play.

I used to feel stress but now I rarely take this game seriously so I usually just meme as killer and don’t ask me how but I’ve made it into red ranks using memes lmao 😂

TL;DR: I tend to get intimated by gen rushing and my performance is dependent entirely on my morale. I have severe anxiety, and it’s just a sinking feeling of “I’ve gotta do something quick.” But then I get extremely overwhelmed because I’m not sure what strategy to use or what to do and I have to think very fast. Even at the end of a match, a single hook gives me a little confidence, and that snowballs into 4k’s as I gain momentum.
I’m suffering from extreme anxiety, it makes day to day tasks very difficult. I know what you mean, your limbs get lighter, you’re just overwhelmed with negativity and yet you want to turn the match around even when they are knocking gens left and right.
It gets overwhelming very quickly, you may start to shake, you don’t want to be made a clown by the survivors, you want to do genuinely well and not stick out as a bully target.
I have the same fluxuations as you, but they have lessened over time as I’ve gotten more used to the way of things in DBD, but the biggest help, is legion. I can slow down the match can take a moment to breathe and collect myself while I kick gens.
It really helps. It’s the same reason I played pig, every time I popped a trap it gave me peace of mind that it was going to stall them for at least 60 seconds.
However panic started to set in when as my trap supply dwindled, and that’s why I only use them when there is one gen left, and during the escape phase.
While cruel, I would crouch with deerstalker and wait for the altruists to come to help their downed friend I left as bait. I’ve gotten 4ks of this alone, and once my confidence built, my performance peeked to a frightening degree in such a short amount of time.

When Killers camp and tunnel 99.9% of the time it is due to stress and pressure alone. Insecurities and panic make them result to a desperate attempt to take control of the match back.
It’s malicious survivor behavior that makes us so afraid to appear to be doing poorly, ironically, we’re the ones who feel vulnerable during a match the most.

It's kinda like your friend asking you to play tag, but you have to play with your hands tied behind your back.
2 -
I feel anxiety/anticipation from the hunt. But stress? Nah. Why play if it stresses you out? That's the opposite of why I play games.

It might possibly be because I have really bad issues in real life. It’s been happening with me on all games now that I think about it, thinking about taking a break overall for sometime.

What you need to do is play red dead redemption 2 with cheats and go on an explosive round rampage in Tumbleweed or Blackwater and you’ll blow off a lotta steam.
You need something where you just shoot things and cannot die. Or at least not easily. Believe it or not these things give you confidence, so even if you’re just destroying bots in an offline match in some game, you’ll find yourself playing for a while and it’s because your brain is essentially venting stress the same way machines vent heat.
(The violent ones usually help the most lol)

@Gamzello I understand that. Darkwolf isnt wrong, but sometimes a game like Flower or Flow, that keeps you engaged while not having to compete or worry can also be really soothing.
Whatever happens, I hope whats going on doesnt stress you out too much. If you're on PS4 and want someone to play with feel free to hmu!

I used to. Now I just have fun and not worry about it. If I do well great. I get my ass kicked, there's always next game.
1 -
You know what's stressful? Trying to kill everyone before 2 gens pops cuz you hate the hatch mechanic so much that you want to avoid it fully, especially while playing Nurse/Billy/spirit
3 -
Nah, I feel stressed cause the devs don't know how to fix the bugs, but will put another killer out to create more bugs....######### should be called bugged by daylight.
2 -
I mean its frustrating but it doesn't get me stressed. I would get stressed when the pallet vacuum was still a thing and it was a lot harder to combat swf bully squads. It's not that bad anymore. Killer is not as stressful as it used to be

Zero stress on either side. Its a game. I am not stressing over it.

Then you never played to win a match as hard as possible (or you never versed strong opponents challenging you).

I respect your opinion, but for people who have anxiety or other personal mental issues tend to think differently. Not everyone thinks the same about something.
I’m also not going to say that everyone who has personal issues thinks the same but some people do.

Only after stumbling into how toxic the survivors in this game are.
First two matches were when it was free on Xbox. I played 2 matches as killer and 4ked in both. Obviously I was playing other newbs.
Then I played my first match a few weeks later when most of the free crowd left. I got no kills and a guy dodged me at the exit gate like 8 attacks in a row. Then they all messaged me acting like my every move was the most evil thing ever. That would continue. So when I knew I was going to get messaged I started feeling pressure to not lose chases. Survivors will all converge on the hook at the same time then call you a camper LOL.
Also in my experience. Camping and tunneling is essentially everything you do as a killer. If survivors died its because you camped and tunneled..... Patrol gens? Thats BS. Stay in the hook area when the exit gates are open? Thats BS. I've literally had survivors message me complaining that I was only looking for survivors near generators. As if I should purposely be walking around in circles somewhere that I know nobody is going to be.

For the most part as killer no except when I play poorly and I never go into a match expecting to lose. I find survivor much more stressful when playing solo due to how it's RNG and usually bad.

The only time I get stressed is when the game is lagging badly.

Playing the game is supposed to be fun, not stressful. If you're feeling stressed then don't play killer.
1 -
I'm the opposite. I feel my anxiety and stress grow when the killer's near, and peak during chases. This is the reason for the majority of my rage quits. It's out of impulse to leave the situation.
Playing killer is easier. No heartbeat; I cannot die. It only becomes frustrating when SWF broadcast and counter my every move.

The only time I get stressed is when finding survivors take longer then playing a ######### game.
2 -
It's the survivors' fault. I'm entitled to my 4k
1 -
Yes and usually it's because I get a 4 person swf every game being toxic so then I just switch to my leatherface, grab someone and take their carcass to the basement then wait, check my phone, switch songs on Spotify.

Honestly recently I have been feeling nothing but stress from playing DBD recently and if you are experiencing stress either quit or take a break, rn I am on hiatus from playing DBD although I will pay attention 2 changes ect bc I love the game sometimes you just need a break.

Camp the nerd survivors and season your fries with their salt.
1 -
I do. And frustration. I can only play for 1-3 rounds before I am too fatigued to play more.
Survivor though? All day, no problem. It's like a holiday vacation in comparison.

My heart races when just having bad games after bad games. When survivors just treat me like a joke and nothing effective in world. All asymetrical games have this except for mario party cause they knew how to do 1 vs 3 right. Torture the all while they try to survive your hell as the one. Then if one escapes reward the whole team but also make it so your own teamates can lead to own downfall. The power role will just be happy to feel powerful.
I will praise the book of mario party til the holy spirit climbs into the devs hearts and shows them the way. Amen

Back in the days yes as I cared about the kills and only kills. Now all I care about is fun and fair chases and that goes for both sides.
If you want to play chill games do it in mid day hours during work days as evenings and weekends are mostly CWF.

I either feel stress or boredom when I play killer.
I play mostly survivor because I can watch a movie or binge watch a serie and still do well so at least I don't get bored or stressed.
I also don't have to deal with people dogpilling on me in the after game chat so that's a plus.

@Gamzello my comment was not directed at anyone. Obviously people with anxiety issues will stress at any aspect of this game. My Aunt has anxiety issues. She stresses at cooking on the grill due to concerns over an open flame. I'm sure DbD would flip her out.
I don't think that should be the bar we measure the roles by though. If you don't have anxiety and you are stressed over playing killer/survivor then you are taking this game too seriously. Stop and laugh now and then.

Ah I apologize! I thought you were just one of those people who didn’t understand those who have an illness.
Yeah honestly, if you don’t have any personal issues and you’re just getting mad at the game for losing like that it’s best to take a break for awhile tbh.

its too easy to rank up atm as Killer, it needs to be harder
0 -
April Fools was yesterday man, I don’t know what you mean. Lots of people are saying that it is harder to pip up as killer.

I don't play much so I'm rank 11 ish and i think all the depip squads got stuck in mid ranks with the new changes.
Xbox is swf central and they're beating the ######### out of me lol

Yes. DbD is one of the games, which doesn't mix well with mental health issues. Especially the killer role, because you are under constant pressure during the entire trial. On the other hand playing killer, is a good way learning to deal with constant pressure in a safe environment. It's two sides of a coin really.
My advice in general is, that well ... that one of the important aspects of caring about yourself, is figuring out, what mentally drains/stresses you and avoid it, if you feel like you can't do it right now. I have mental health issues combined by myself. I used to love playing killer. But I have to hold myself back, when I know my current mental state doesn't allow it, I just can't do it. Find other ways of enjoyment. It's sad, but the best thing you can do. For others and yourself.
