Sadako Issues Thread
Phase 2 of the new Quality of life updates specifies fixing high priority/impact killer issues so I'm making this thread to compile a bunch of issues on Sadako. Some are bugs, some aren't so instead of creating a bunch of different threads I'm compiling them all here, also I'll provide a log file.
Manifest Action Lockout
When manifested, if you tap the demanifest button it will lock you out of doing any interaction for 1.5 seconds. As you see spamming the action button (space) does nothing because I tapped my demanifest button.
This isn't the case when done with other killers. For example, Wraith who has an almost identical power setup isn't affected by this issue and can tap the cloak button and immediately follow up with an action.
This issue isn't seen when Sadako does the same thing when demanifested, only when she is manifested as seen here.
Demanifest Invisibility Time/Demanifest Effects Issue
When demanifested (the state she cannot hit survivors), Sadako's invisibility is supposed to be 1.2 seconds. However, there is an issue where the glitch effects that play as she's going invisible lingers for a little over 0.2 seconds. This glitch effect follows Sadako too so you can't mindgame while it's up, meaning she only has 1 second of invisibility which is a 16.6% reduction in the invisibility uptime as can be seen here:
This effect seen here is lingering for too long
For some reason, they don't disappear when Sadako does. However when Sadako appears at the start of the demanifest cycle, you'll see that Sadako appears before the visual effects. This should be how it is when she goes invisible.
Some potential fixes for this include:
- Artificially inflate the demanifest time by 0.2 seconds to account for this effect. However, this isn't a good change for the long term, will likely be forgotten about if the value changes, messes with the Reiko's watch timer etc.
- Remove the effects at the end all together. I'm not a fan of this one because I think they look really good and we don't want to ruin immersion if we can but it is a solution.
- Make the effects appear 0.2 seconds sooner, this way we can keep the effects without them harming the invisibility power which is a much better fix but not sure how easy this would be to implement
- Untie the effects from Sadako. So when the VHS effect plays, it stays in place regardless of where Sadako moves during the effect animation
Either way, please could this be addressed so we get the full advertised time.
Killer Item Spawns on Eeyrie of Crows
The recent chest fix has addressed killer items in almost every situation (thank you very much for that). However, on Eeyrie of crows there are no spawns for Killer items/Chests in the middle of the map. This is an issue because the middle of the map guarantees a generator spawn meaning you will never have a TV near the generator which then throws of the spawns for the other generators.
If you just add a couple spawn up the middle of the map this should fix this issue completely. Here's a couple suggestions
Aslong as there's one near the top of mid and the bottom of mid it will be fine.
Visuals Are Staying when you Teleport
For some reason when you teleport, the static effect stays on the screen. Not a huge deal but it's there.
That's all. Please fix them.
Attached all the logs from the day I did all the testing since I started and closed the game multiple times.

I dont know if it counts as fixing high impact issues, but id love to see an addon pass for sadako (again lol) since their last one didnt change that much and arguably made it worse (iri videotape). Although looking at the long list of killer issues and other killers that could use an addon pass its unlikely.

I'm going to ping in @MechWarrior3 and @OnryosTapeRentals as they're both Sadako players and may know more bugs than I would, but I'm also going to link a thread about a visual bug in the lobby regarding her prestige weapon. Much less gamebreaking than your bugs, YayC, but still worth adding nonetheless.

Heya, thanks for the tag. Although unfortunately I don't have a lot of information to provide for us here. She doesn't really have much of a "Bug Issue" as she does a design issue.
However, I will say the bugs that need to get fixed for her is the dark screen demanifested on maps like The Game and Lerys. In addition to her demanifest invisibility not last as long as it should be even with the addon. Its broken for sure.

Damn, all this effort. And bhvr is just going to ignore you. Such a pity.
I would love to be proven wrong. But alas, it's bhvr we're talking about…
You're doing a good thing here though. And i highly respect you for it. I just wish stuff like this wasn't in Vain.5 -

Sadako doesn't push condemn only onto the TV she teleports to, she pushes condemn to ALL TURNED ON TV'S when she teleports.

Oh alright mb. Thanks for clarifying !

The brightness bug when Sadako is demanifested is fixed on all maps except Lery's, its still very dark when demanifested on that map.

Great list. Hopefully BHVR will take a look into these issues. On a side note, is Reiko's Watch still bugged. I've been avoiding it but maybe I missed it getting fixed on the patch notes.
@CatInDisguise I'd love to share my thoughts regarding her add-ons. Her add-ons definitely should get looked at. I don't want to derail the thread too much though so I'll just voice my thoughts on the 2 main ones.
Rickety Pinwheel and Sea-Soaked Cloth
When they reworked her and changed her counterplay from being avoid pick-up up tapes into grabbing tapes, they really made Rickety Pinwheel and Sea-Soaked Cloth add-ons pretty useless. Now any half-decent survivor will grab a tape the second they see a TV aura while on a gen, and given these add-ons only work within 8 meters of powered TVs, they are basically useless.
Fixing this issue I don't think is very hard. They can both be reworked to be functioned when a TV was either not powered, or for a fixed duration after a survivor pulls a tape from that TV.
Iridescent Videotape
I love the concept of this add-on where you trade condemn pressure for mobility. However in reality against knowledgeable teams it just means you have no condemn pressure and no mobility. Survivors just have too much control over her power if they know what they are doing. Without the slowdown from condemn pressure, you'll basically never have a useful TV to teleport. Strong survivor counterplay is reasonable when she has condemn pressure, but with this add-on the counterplay is too free and too punishing to her.
I think there are varying solutions to this issue. In short BHVR needs to make the counterplay more restrictive and difficult to survivors when running this add-on.
One option would be to limit how often they can grab tapes, such as not letting them turn off or interact with TVs other than their tape drop off TV while that survivor is holding a tape. Another option would be limiting their info on TVs, such as removing the auras of TVs with the add-on, or hiding the auras if the survivor is holding a tape. A 3rd option would be to make it less punishing for Onryo by reducing the TV cool-down for TVs turned off by survivors from the current 80+ seconds to instead something like 45 seconds.
The last option which I doubt BHVR would put effort into would be to give it some functions of the original Iri-tape. Make it so that when hitting a survivor within 8 seconds after manifesting, 3 random TVs turn back on. This would still allow survivors to have the strong counterplay, but also reward the Onryo for getting hits by resetting some of those TVs on long cool-down. Also we would get that amazing sfx back into the game.

When I tested it I didn't notice it. It goes dark during the transition but returns to normal so this could be a platform specific issue.
Reiko's watch is doing what it's supposed to, but the time you're meant to be invisible isn't as high as it should be because the base invisibility is bugged.
With Reiko's it's 1.3 seconds instead of 1.5 seconds it's meant to be. But that's still higher than what it's supposed to be basekit (even if it's only by 0.1 seconds).

I hope BHVR sees this and fixes these.

Thanks for the heads up about Reiko's Watch. I'll have to bring out my manifest mindgame builds again. Also regarding the dark maps, I'm on PC and Lery's is dark for me every time when demanifested. Really hope they fix it soon because it is a really pain.

Yeah I already upvotede but commenting for visibility. This is a very good, well researched post and should Garner an official response

Thanks for pinging me! YayC has covered the main bugs she has right now, although while they're looking at Killer issues there is a QoL issue I'd like to raise:
- TV pushing: What I'm referring to here is when you press the key to teleport to a TV at the same time that a survivor finishes turning that TV off, the game will swap the target (little red arrow) from that TV to the next closest TV to your line of sight and continue with the teleport. Occasionally, that TV will be close by to where you wanted to teleport anyways, so it isn't a big deal. But most of the time it ends up with you teleporting miles away from where you actually wanted to go, and with a TV on cooldown that you didn't want to be on cooldown. Being selective about when and where you teleport is fundamental to playing Sadako, and being forced into a teleport to the wrong TV can break a match for her. Solution: have the game cancel the teleport instead of switching the location when this situation arises.
- And before anyone says, this isn't intentional counterplay on the Survivor's part that I'm trying to remove — this almost always happens completely by coincidence when you're just trying to move around the map. It's not something survivors can intentionally do anyways, as you have no way of knowing the exact millisecond that Sadako is going to teleport to a given TV.

I mean their addon passes just consisted of nerfing the meta addons even if they were fine (ring drawing being a big one that's useless now) and leaving the rest untouched even though they make no sense anymore after 9 reworks. The only exception is video tape copy.

This was taken on Xbox Series X on September 18

Might be a platform issue then. On PC, it goes dark during the demanifest animation but then returns to regular brightness
