So they can keep doing that for longer
Was it blight tunneling at 5 gens? Well, yes.
Atleast we had some hope for a week.

That playstyle is a huge problem. As well as the slug + hump BM that is running rampant at the moment.
28 -
Best strategy why change? You honestly should be happy. How silly would it be to load up a competitive game and your doing your best to win, only to find out the other side was handicapping its self by playing nice so you could run around and play.
I do that for my daughter when we play since she's a child I would be pretty disrespected to find out people I compete with doing that to me.
-37 -
"Competitive game" Let me know when DBD has a functional matchmaking system. Like when this Blight is matched with the most degenerate SWF imaginable and not some random solo queue team of varying skill levels.
41 -
I'm sure the blight that got close to 2000 game win streak played plenty of them lol. That's what happens when you don't play easy you get wins.
-15 -
Had a super fun match last night where a body-blocking Wraith counted to ten after my unhooks. What a blast.
28 -
I think survivors need to ######### and complain like the killers did. Maybe then they'll bring the changes back. Honestly IMO I can't believe that they're not moving forward with it. They didn't even wait to let console players have a chance at trying out the new changes.
There was an entire player base out there who's opinions got left out. 😐
Just a little FYI before anyone comes at me saying survivor main console player i play 50/50 and play on PC.
17 -
because they didn’t need any additional input to confirm it was an awful idea. It was on the right track though. I would have liked to see them modify some numbers, maybe reverted a couple things and then extend the ptb, like they do the event modes, to gather more information that way we aren’t being left at a net loss as a community.
The slugging change was actually well done. The only thing they could have changed was have it work like the anti-camp meter and have it pause if there are survivors nearby that way it doesn’t get out of hand at pallets, or with flashlight/flashbang/sabo squads.
-14 -
Every match in 1v4 ive had this past week with the exception of a few have been hard tunneling. At this point i feel like theyre doing it to be petty about the almost update. Even in 2v8 im seeing more tunneling than usual. so shoutout to the devs for pulling out a carpet pull and showing the toxic parts of the community that they can continue to make us all miserable.
21 -
Maybe then they'll bring the changes back
This is more directed @ the entire topic, but I'm using this comment to bounce off of. They are bringing the changes back. It feels like people around here haven't actually read the statement that was put out? They're taking the time to iron out some very rough edges, and then we'll get the systems back to test in a future PTB. The systems we had punished scenarios far outside the scope of simply being "anti-tunnel" or "anti-slug" and a number of Killers had their entire kits rendered useless due to oversights (Legion and Twins to name a couple). It's very clear to anyone who isn't incredibly biased that these changes were not yet suitable for a live release. Which is why they made the correct call to postpone things.
I'd understand this kind of backlash if they'd said "Yep, we're scrapping the changes and never going to do anything ever again to try and combat these issues." But that's clearly not what happened.
They didn't even wait to let console players have a chance at trying out the new changes.
This gets brought up every time we have a PTB and every time we have to reiterate the same response — this is the fault of the companies that make the consoles NOT BHVR. Unlike Steam, console platforms require expensive and time-consuming certification processes for updates that aren't feasible to go through for one week or so worth of testing. In an ideal world, everyone would be able to test the PTB, but BHVR can't realistically make that happen. The ball lies in the court of console companies for that — complain to them if it's something you want.
-14 -
Survivor mains just don't seem to be as loud. There are a few here, but I see many more that are more attached to the killer role, even though there must be more people playing survivor for the numbers to work.
Maybe that's because a 40% goal bakes-in the expectation or failure for survivor. Most of the time I just feel beaten down as survivor and it's kind of exhausting. As killer, not so much. I feel like I've always got a good chance. I've lost 10 survivor matches in a row more than once and that feels depressing but not abnormal. I've never lost ten killer matches in a row.
15 -
Being mad about tunneling at 5 gens is understandable, especially if the mf is playing Blight. Inexcusable
1 -
so shoutout to the devs for pulling out a carpet pull
The PTB stands for public TEST build. These features were never guaranteed to be coming to live in the next update, and the fact they aren't has nothing to do with the "toxic parts of the community". It has everything to do with the fact that these changes were objectively NOT ready for a live release. That's the whole point of the point of a TEST build. They try out a feature, and if it works, it comes to live, and if it doesn't they postpone it for further work (which they've done here) or scrap it entirely (which they have NOT done here).
People reading the postponement as an endorsement of tunneling either don't understand the purpose of a test build or a willfully misconstruing things.
-9 -
The PTB changes wouldn't have prevented a good blight from doing that btw
-9 -
Yep. The sheer number of people advocating for a clearly underbaked system like that to hit live servers is actually scary.
It's been eye opening to see how many people around here do not understand the game at all.
-12 -
A few people have said this. I've noticed an uptick too. The irony is, in making random people miserable in your form of "protest," you're going to 1) inflate your stats artificially 2) increase discontent and discourse amongst survivor players and 3) generate more numbers showing the excessive prevalence of these tactics.
Kinda shooting themselves in the foot there.
4 -
cough and shows the MMR isn't working. Properly applied such a streak shouldn't be possible (assuming 4K). That it was possible is indicative of either a broken matchmaking system, broken Killer, or both.
In a competitive setting, the possibility of loss is important. Doubtful there was one in a 2,000 game win streak…
9 -
After Chucky's release, they tightened matchmaking which set off all the content creators because their games (and winstreaks) suddenly became harder. IMO if someone is having winstreaks in the thousands then they should be in the highest MMR bracket and should be competing against survivors also in the highest bracket. Mandy assured me some time later that the matchmaking changes weren't reverted but it was definitely weird that all the content creators stopped complaining pretty quickly after their initial outburst and didnt mention it again.
I dunno. Matchmaking in this game is so shoddy but the lack of transparency around it makes me cynical that it's shoddy for most of us so a small number get what they want.
21 -
Enjoy the queue times.
16 -
Do you honestly think some one could play 2000 games with out getting a really good squad?. Not to mention even if a fresh new account was made they would have maxed the MMR in the first 100 or so game win streak. The simple answer and if you watch the footage is tunneling + slugging + S tier killer is just not a situation survivors can deal with. The game isn't balanced around it at all.
But most players don't play optimally even why in the killer role they don't tunnel as hard as they should and slug as much as they should I'm sure subconsciously people don't like it happening to them so they shy away from it until some artificial line in the sand was crossed and they use it as a tool to win or catch back up.
-2 -
again 1v4 is completely unplayable. Garbage ahh mode with just a bunch of *** killers playing the game
17 -
precicely why i dont touch survivor at all. Ive been doin jumpscare myers in 1v4 and thats about it. been such a vibe and totally hilarious
8 -
I am feeling like playing survivior aswell, lately.
Especially after they announced the measures we NEEDED and postponed it to god knows when.I can't play killer with 8-12 minutes queue time aswell. Maybe queue times will become better once 2v8 is gone.
0 -
theyre usually better after 2v8. most people go to 2v8 because….and let me say loud for the tunnelers in back. ITS NOT COMPETITIVE and far more casual. Alot harder to tunnel and camp in that mode
9 -
What does that screenshot prove? That Blight is a high tier killer? Does that tell anything about any killer? If you have a balance issue, how about asking for a nerf to Blight instead wanting to nerf EVERY killer?
-11 -
That killers don't feel bad about hard tunneling. Even those high tiers.
Don't you think I didn't ask? I talk about blight, nurse and kaneki every time there is a chance on the forums.
Other people talk about it aswell and there is no action on bhvr's side.Post edited by vol4r on7 -
Good. Keep doing that, but for gods sake, keep general killer alone. I like to play different killer than Billy, Nurse, Blight. So stop with nerfs for all killer. When I startet playing DBD back in the days, I was a TRAPPER MAIN. Absolutly not viable anymore.
-13 -
That screenshot doesn’t give enough information. Is 1 generator repaired, and all the other generators are at 0%? Is 1 generator repaired, and 3 generators are at 99%?
It doesn’t make sense to have anti-tunnel rules based on the number of generators, because survivors would just 99% generators.
-14 -
To be fair, measures like shutting off several perks and basegame mechanics in endgame for Survivor and not Killer (when Killer should be at their strongest) gives the same vibe as the "youngest player goes first" rule with Candyland. I don't see why it's wrong to add something like that to Survivor as well.
5 -
Timber mentioned something like that too and I'm still skeptical that they'd be able to implement a special queue for Fog Whisperers only. But I will say if that is true, it's pretty terrible (in my opinion).
1 -
come on, both sides are just as much obnoxious, dont throw it to just killers,
-4 -
Billy?
I hardly ever see any billys anymore. Like 9/10 times when I hear a chainsaw on the map, I see Bubba.
I do see the odd nurses and blights, but for the most part, I see killers that often play in more scummy ways.I find getting matched against Billy to be a breath of fresh air, and I never feel bad about losing against him, because he takes a considerable amout of skill to do well with.

It's not just killers, I just see more killers attached to their roles and expressing more entitlement to win, even when many already have 70%+ KRs. Again, mostly what I see from survivors is a kind of pre-programmed acceptance of defeat that displays itself as frustration.
11 -
the thing is pretty mucha nyone who cares about this game would be fine with this behaviour of hard tunneling being punished. However that is not what was in the PTB , they went overboard with it that it punished all killers for simply playing the game .
-1 -
As far as i know, survivor perks that get disabled in endgame are anti-tunnel perks, mostly because they could lead to lose lose situations for killers.
Since is tunneling is something that happens before the gates are powered its understadable why they deactivate when all gens are done. They would be doing more than they are intended for if they could be used to with powered gates. Also, that's the reason they are quite strong, because they punish one certain playstyle.
-1 -
It's because very obviously, survivor players are collectively more casual, and will never interact with the outside community outside of playing the game. Survivor players HAVE to be at a higher number than killer players to keep matches flowing (which hasn't been the case for quite a while), frankly they just don't care anymore. It's been multiple years of "can't wait to play DBD!" 'queues into a 3k hour blight main slugging and tunneling gets off the game for a week hoping it'll get better'. They're fatigued like crazy. You quite literally can go play any other game on the market and feel like your time isn't being utterly wasted because you actually have a 50% chance to win, and even if you don't win in the vast majority of scenarios you will be able to find enjoyment in that game. No one finds enjoyment sitting on the ground for 4 minutes staring at their phone, no one finds enjoyment sitting in lobby for 2/5ths of their in match time because they got tunneled for just trying to have fun.
Someone said it a few days ago, the hyper competitive people who play this game are killing it, rapidly. They are the ones outcrying on the forums constantly because they need to win, even if they don't want to put the effort into getting better to. DBD is inherently a party game, it always has been, sadly this hyper-competitiveness isn't a DBD exclusive thing, BHVR has just done absolutely nothing to stop it from destroying the casual playerbase too.13 -
Yeah, I agree. I just recently said I think the forum is a particularly bad example of the majority player. I see a whole bunch of people with KRs and ERs well over the goal number, some KRs outrageously so. I don't think these people can objectively view the game anymore, even if they play both roles.
I play a lot, but I'd be considered casual in my approach. I have a 60% KR and a 40% ER. Literally The Average Player at likely mid MMR. The views I see don't feel like they reflect that experience at all. It's like they're playing a different game than I am.
What you say about other games has been on my mind for awhile. Aside from the 40% majority loss goal for survivors, there's also the fact that if you die, you're out. If I log on to a CoD game for the first time, I'll be terrible, but I'll get to be around for the whole match, and no one can really incapacitate me. It's that feeling that you didn't even get to play at all that kills the survivor role. When I play killer, I intentionally spread hooks and try to keep everyone around for awhile. I want the match to feel full and even. But consideration and empathy are for the "casual" mindset, I guess.

I've played Overwatch for 9 years now (started during the beta), and even during the HEIGHT of the most toxic formats I have never seen the community band together to play whats "meta" collectively, posts from the time even show it with GOATS, casual players played what they loved. This changed during 2019-2020 or so, everyone being forced on the internet for so long forced people into bubbles of watching youtube videos (mainly by high ELO players) and started enforcing stricter and stricter Metas.
I wasn't around in 2020, so I don't know if that's when the swap happened as well for DBD, but I saw it in multiple games I played, every single pvp-adjacent game had stricter and stricter metas, and more and more toxic players if you didn't adhere to them. Hell we see it currently, hundreds of comments on the forums of "you suck just git gud", I find no enjoyment in "getting good" at DBD, why would I force myself to get better when I know it would make me enjoy the game less (which is the obvious fact that most people who do tryhard do not enjoy the game unless they win), I could theoretically put in many more hours than the average person (disabled so I don't work outside of housework), but then I would be treating the game like a job, also, not enjoyable.
A lot of the people the comments come from about how competitive games need to be if they are pvp are younger, and I know i personally was a more competitive person when I was younger. But in reality they need to grow up and see video games as what they really are, escapes from the outside world, and enjoyment, its a form of media that you are meant to spend time enjoying, not putting all your effort into. So no, the 3k subs you got on youtube for reaching a 1k blight winstreak isn't "kickstarting" your career, its removing your enjoyment from what is suppose to be a hobby, and not a job.6 -
Tbh I think if that blight was very good and skilled he could 3k or 4k even through the antitunnel changes and tunneling punishments but fact is 10 seconds delay with unhook notification can make huge difference and I might be wrong because with all those effects after unhook there is big chance to slip away and stop that tunnel atleast for some time forcing him to spread hooks and presure on other survivors. This antichanges were stoped because they would punish this blight who would deserve it but same punishments would hit trapper getting first kill on 4 hook stages one gen left from powering the gates which isnt good at all.

I agree with all of this too. I think social media and content creators fuel a lot of the negative shifts in gaming. I'm not young and I always remind myself that many of these people are half my age. Youtube existed but wasn't at this scale when I first started online PvP gaming, about 15 or more so years ago. There wasn't even crossplay when online gaming became big. It was a much more personal and isolated endeavor.
I've had quite a few people tell me what perks I should be bringing to avoid problematic tactics and I think that's garbage. I recently switched out my Scene Partner/Plot Twist and Built to Last for Finesse and Lithe and I'm unhappy about it. It's more advantageous, sure, but it's not as fun or satisfying. Now I'm looking at Made for This, Conviction, and Soul Guard but this just isn't what I want. It's not the fun escape I want it to be if I have to play like this.
8 -
So what are the most encountered killer? I don't know, because I do not enjoy playing survivor. Never did. And I don't own any killer past Oni.
-3 -
When the blight is tunneling that 1 person, what is the rest of the team doing? Why is the person going down so quickly when they are hard focusing that single person? They should have the entire map of pallets available to them? I'll give you the first down, but by the time tunneling is clearly established you should have plenty of time on the unhook to run somewhere strong like main building or shack. Which at that point if the blight is chasing you they are going to lose the game, unless you go down super quick at shack. But at that point its a you problem for going down quickly at what is arguably the strongest structure in the game for survivors.

Just chiming in to say you started this post talking exactly how I would if I were to bounce off a topic.

Lately, I have run into so many Bubbas and Ghouls, and for some reason, Sadako and Myers

guys, I decided to become a villian… after 5-6 years of playing the game.
It will be more and more… might aswell go for streak!

I am not stopping until nerfs!

"BHVR has just done absolutely
nothingto stop it from destroying the casual playerbase"I've said a few times already, that 10 years in is (in my opinion) too late for these sorts of proposed changes. As someone who enjoys M1 and "weaker" killers, and who doesn't tunnel or slug, i can recognise how unpopular tactics help mask issues with certain killers and prevent them from getting their much needed updates. But BHVR let this stuff fester for too long, it is now ingrained in the game's culture, and they will experience pushback no matter what they do.
They may have an 'intended' way of playing the game, but they made no effort to teach it to players entering the game. Instead, they left it up to popular content creators, who are by and large more competitive, to carry this game to the point it's at 10 years later. Where the "optimal" ways to play, and the metas you expect everyone to subscribe to, have been well and truly established.
Obviously this is just my opinion, but I suspect all these changes theyre proposing to put through now is because theyre no longer retaining new players at the comfortable rate they once were. Because i think alot of new players enter this game casually, and most immediately determine that's not the experience theyre going to get and leave. The competitive folk stick around though. But the time for addressing this was years ago. Unless the compensation for not slugging or tunnelling is greater than the current benefits of doing so, the competitive side of DBD will pushback.
13 -
Another fun one from today. This killer downed me early and camped until I went second stage, then slugged everyone. Went AFK and left us all to bleed out for the whole timer. I got 5k BP for this match. The abandon feature is bs. You should be able to have some potential comeback from this behavior, especially with a flat-out refusal to hook.
10 -
They're not strong enough to match camping/tunneling/slugging. That, along with the fact that they're disabled during endgame to help Killer catch up is what makes me say that it feels the way that it does. When the endgame felt like everything was being thrown out but the kitchen sink, it was a lot more enjoyable in my opinion.
I've said for years now that DBD is a game that doesn't want to be played. It's like it rejects you. There are so many games that feel the opposite; that feel inviting. And when you play those and come back to DBD, it always feels so dire.
Sometimes I'll see these little clips of people having a great time in DBD and it makes me want to hop on too, but I know my experience won't be like that so I usually choose not to. Even when I hop on once or twice a week to do the challenges, I can be over it only a few trials in.
That's why I am trying to be optimistic about the future of this patch but there's so much that feels like we should be on year 4, not on the cusp on year 10. I can understand that the game might not have been in the best place at the start of year 6, but there's no denying the game has aged at twice the speed since then.
That's why I'm still very lenient on DCs. These trials have been so common for so long that I can't blame anyone for developing game sense around it. If the Killer acts a very specific way from the start, you can tell where it's going. But that isn't something you know until the trial begins. And the unequal amount of effort it takes to combat it is entirely dependent on matchmaking, which isn't fair.
10 -
thats your mistake right there…downed you early. thats skill issue. i mean the killer needs to win a chase 8 times for that to happen (twice per survivor to down them) if the killer hooked you all instead of slugging then the killer won. same applies to being slugged. you wouldnt expect a potential comeback if all are hooked, maybe you would expect that? the abandon option is there because its unanimous the killer won so you can get to the next match instead of remaining slugged.
its interesting that i knew this would happen. survivors complained about being slugged for 4 min so bhvr gave them what they wanted, a way out. now thats not good enough, they dont want a way out they want another second chance.
-13 -
Content creators and fog whisperers have been targeted by hackers who have even been able to track the ID and force their way into the lobby.
If there was a special queue it would have been revealed.
