Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

I can’t believe survivors are ok with being treated like this

OTR, Tenacity gutted even though the anti slug anti tunnelling patch was scrapped.

Another overturned ghoul 2.0 killer that can vault pallets and get easy double taps.

None of the gen regression perks like pop, pain res getting the planned nerfs but the OTR nerf went through meaning it was intentional.

Y’all get crumbs every update but still continue to queue up. It’s honestly courageous and sad at the same time

Survivors say this but clearly enough of them keep queuing up no matter how miserable it is. Most of these people are addicted and this is the only game they play so I don’t see anything changing anytime soon.

Well these posts aren’t doing much. You guys take a massive L every update but keep queuing up

So what do you do then? Do you keep queuing up? If so, why?

Okay. So you wanna know why I still queue up? Well, I wanted to see what the new Killer was like. I only faced her once and didn't even have much interaction with her, so I still don't have a solid impression. So I'll have to queue up some more. And then I still have a few more quests to do.

Also, Killer gameplay bores me, so I can't bring myself to queue up as Killer.

Honestly, there's a killer for everyone. Try them out one by one, i guarantee you'll find one (or more) that you just click with. Recent killers have had alot of power creep, so if you work your way backwards then you'll probably find the older killers unappealing because alot of them require more game sense than more recent killers in order to get the best results. So I'd advise starting with the older killers and working your way up. Also, your experience playing survivor actually makes playing killer easier as you're familiar with all the tricks and hiding places lol

As someone who enjoys multiple killers, I'd say I agree with this statement.

    @CrypticGirl
I highly enjoy playing Myers, and if you want to have fun, slap on Scratched Mirror and go to town. The amount of times I have gotten hilarious comments in the end-screen is more than I can count on both hands and feet combined.
Plus, it got buffed this patch as well, so if you want to scare the living daylights out of the survivors, go for it.
Also, I highly suggest trying out Wesker. He is really fun to play as, and feels very satisfying once you learn how to use his power.

100% true. They’re responsible for their own downfall, embarrassing

Personally I'm waiting for the QoL to actually come through.

But, I find that most killers actually put handicaps on themselves. They don't slug for the 4k or tunnel the first person they find. They play relatively chill and its a good game.

The games though with a killer who uses the broken mechanics BHVR gives them, yeah, that ruins the experience, but some people can over look that.

Sadly, most of my buds dropped the game last year. So, if I play I only have solo q option, which is crap. Ive pretty much dropped survivor games due to the constant slugging. I enjoy playing Micheal. His changes are actually fun in my opinion. I'm probably going to just play Micheal when I get the itch to play dbd. I'll probably only do that until the new Halloween game comes out next year.

Just curious why you say killer is “easy mode”. Is this based on your personal experience? Can you share your killer stats? I certainly have some easy matches as killer, but I also consistently face skilled survivors and those matches are not “easy mode”. Maybe I’m just bad and need some help. Do you have any videos your killer gameplay to show how to win easily every time?

The bonus is almost always on Survivor and the game needs more of them to thrive, so it might be implemented sooner rather than later.

And yet you have not a single word of actual advice for a Killer main who's struggling?

I mean, if it's that easy, why don't you just play Killer and collect your free wins?

Survivor mains are accustomed to getting buff after buff in every major update, and this patch was going to practically codify the Survivors' Rulebook for Killers before the Killer players (Accurately) informed BHVR that their anti-tunneling and anti-slugging systems would break the game for Killer.

But now that BHVR's scrapped those systems to be revisited at some later date, the only things left over in the patch are a couple nerfs to common Survivor perks like Off the Record, the map changes (Which added a lot more pallets to maps and made the game significantly easier for Survivor), and the new Killer (Who's pretty OP, to be honest).

But anyway, I'm happy to share what I know about playing Killer. Where would you say you're struggling most?

I could say the same about the last update. Infinite item charges with Streetwise for Survivors, Insanely fast vault speed with Last Stand, a new Survivor who's screams are not directional, etc..

Yes, Krasue is too strong. Yes, OTR should grant endurance. But the reason these changes were pushed it is because BHVR sucks at playtesting, balancing and listening to their community. Not because they hate Survivor.

Hell, they intended to push out insanely Survivor sided anti-slugging/anti-tunneling changes, and only depayed them when 90% of their player aye yelled at them what a terrible idea it was. They also put pallets every 5 meters this patch, which was added to live.

So? They are both a symptom of the same problem. Not testing enough and not listening to the playtesters who they did have.

  • VibranToucan
    VibranToucan Member Posts: 674

When did I say it was? They tested the new changes with the anti-tunnel changes, saw they are fine under those conditions, so they pushed them out even without the anti-tunnel changes. If they had playtested this patch without the anti-tunnel changes and had listened to those playtesters, it probably would have gotten reverted.

We can all cherrypick examples. They killswitched Nemesis PWYF faster than they killswitched Streetwise. Last Year Potential Energy was allowed to be bugged for insane gen speed for multiple weeks.
And about your examples: Streetwise got to stay in the game for like one week. The springtrap glitch was fixed after 9 days. That is not a big difference.

Okay, lets assume your position is 100% correct. So what? Killer perks get changed and nerfed all the time too. Sometimes those nerfs destroy them or make people unhappy. I think they should be reverted, but "They reworked 2 Survivor perks" is not a good argument for them favouring kilelrs. Literally DMS got nerfed in the same patch. Pain Res got nerfed 4 times over its lifespan. Quite recently Pentimento got reworked to be way worse than it used to be.

Deathgarden was so heavily survivor-sided that I played two matches and never touched it again. If, in game with that name, survivors swarm the "killer" and stunlock him after only DAYS of the game being playable, that's a problem.

Let's face it, if you play killer, you expect to be in the power position, and as survivor, your actual survival should be an uphill battle. The game (DBD) is now in a state where it should have been years ago, favoring the killer. The problem is just that instead of tweaking the basics, they make increasingly powerful but boring killers. How many Houndmasters, Vecnas, Draculas or Chuckys have you seen lately? Because they are boring.

And how many Trappers, Hillbillys, Spirits, Onis, Doctors? Because they are weak.

The only old killer that is good AND fun AND fair is Huntress.

    1. I am not sure what you are trying to say. Do you think Matthew Cote walked into the meeting room and said "you know these anti-tunnel and anti-slugging changes we proposed even tho we only cater to killers? Well the community didn't like the execution and wanted different kinds of changes to help with these issues, so while we work on these we should hyperbuff slugging and tunneling and lets do that by keeping the rework of two perks we reworked for the PTB, and further adjusting one two weeks later?" Like, Tenacity didn't deserve to get nerfed, Off the Record didnt deserve to get reworked, yeah so what? That doesnt show that BHVR is "giving (Survivors) crumbs every update."
    2. This is still one patch. Yeah this one is Killer sided. That doesn't mean there is a trend for Killer sided updates.
