A Middle Ground For Micheal Myers (Power Change Idea)
Hello, Myers players old and new, enjoyers and mains!
As we all know, the 9.2.0 update has brought upon us a Myers rework. This rework has, most notably, tacked on a rather... generic dash power onto Myers instead of his normal Tier 3.
Personally, I would be in favor of completely scrapping the lunge, BUT I know that the dev team has spent a lot of time on him and that many players adore the new Myers.
And so, I present a compromise. Give The Shape a dual power set. To explain. Keep his new fancy dash, but also keep the old Tier 3 and expand it's uses by dedicating a bigger portion of the add-ons to it. (Similar to old Freddy's Snare/Pallet add-ons). For the rest of this post, I will refer to old Tier 3 as Evil Within Mode.
Here are the changes:
General changes:
• Increase the Stalk range to 40 meters. (was 32)
• Evil Incarnate Mode now requires 6 Stalk Points to activate. (was 5)
• Revert the stalking logic to how it was before (stalking from afar fills up the power meter faster)
• The Tier Up Warning sound will only play once the stalk meter has been filled to 75%. (was 50%)
• Remove the Warning sound that plays once you fill the Stalk meter.
• Return the old audio track that played whenever Myers reached Tier III.
Evil Incarnate Mode / Dash Power:
• Return the camera restriction.
• Remove the bonuses for faster stuns and pallet breaking. (Only for this mode, Evil Within/Old Myers still keeps the benefits.)
• Replace the glowing knife effect with a different VFX that announces the start and end of Evil Incarnate. (Preferably something similar to the Exposed pop-up.)
Add-ons:
Boyfriend's Memo:
• Unlocks Evil Within Mode.
• When you enter Evil Within Mode, the most stalked survivor becomes the Obsession.
Glass Fragment:
• Unlocks Evil Within Mode.
• During the last 15 seconds of Evil Within Mode, your movement speed increases by 5%.
Scratched Mirror:
• Decreased the rarity to Uncommon.
Hairbrush:
• Now also unlocks Evil Within Mode.
Jewelry:
• The Stalk meter now fills at different speeds based on whether or not you are stationary or moving. (Reworked stalk rules)
Mirror Shard:
• Unlocks Evil Within Mode.
• Whenever you fully fill up the Stalk meter, all survivors in a 32 meter radius scream and reveal their locations.
Reflective Fragment:
• Unlocks Evil Within Mode.
• Extends the duration of Evil Within Mode by 12 seconds after every succesful basic attack.
• Slows down the bleed out timer of all survivors by 20% while you're in the Evil Within Mode.
Fragrant Tuft of Hair:
• Unlocks Evil Within Mode.
• Unlocks the ability to switch from Pursuer to Evil Within Mode without Stalking after filling up the Stalk meter once.
• Increases the amount of Stalk needed to unlock Evil Within Mode by 200%.
• The Stalk meter no longer regresses.
• Revert the rarity back to Visceral.

I hope your post reaches the devs and wished they‘d given Sadako something like that for her 1.0 version.

Why is there need to do a Compromise?
-6 -
Because, as I said, a full revert (my prefered option) is highly unlikely and would also produce hate from players who like the kind of power Myers has now.
But something NEEDS to be done.
6 -
That makes two of us.
I hope so too. :)
4 -
That was my question, what is it that is bad and needs to be done something about`?
-3 -
It's how the dash has 12 different downsides and drawback compared to the old Exposed, and the amount of info your power gives to survivors.
About the first point, the dash has a 6 second cooldown (for some reason) paired with a shorter duration of tier 3. This makes it so you can hardly get value. Next is how you have to charge it up for a good while to even get something more than a regular lunge. And lastly, synergy with M1 perks, gone. (that is just a nitpick)
And on the info part, survivors can easily track what exactly you are doing with the audio ques. Above 50% stalk? Audio Que. Ready to trigger tier 3? Audio Que + a forced TR increase. Actually trigger tier 3, also a sound. Use the dash? Audio que.
also the stalk distance reduction is stupid
6 -
If it were my list:
- Stalk range is reduced to 32m meaning players cannot find good stalk angles without being much more obvious.
- Feeding off the previous point, stalk doesn't change with distance and the stationary stalk bonus is generally less optimal due to basically being the same stalk rate and survivors easily seeing you and breaking sight, and so Myers sits playing peekaboo round tiles, which looks goofy AF.
- The sound cues are kinda all over the place, even warning survivors they are being stalked so there is no point trying to sneaky stalk. The schlink of his knife feels tacky, as if Myers is showing off his knife before he uses it, which Myers doesn't do.
- Stalking in general is much faster, with none of the add-ons that make extend it/have tombstones to make Myers feel ominous and scary. He just wanders out, stalks in your face, then starts trying to Slaughtering Strike you. It's highly predictable and has no tension.
- Pursuer mode makes him an ordinary M1 killer with some slight stun/break/vault recovery buffs and a longer lunge, but then there is the Evil Incarnate mode with big dash. If the SS dash is good (its easy to stalk up and then instadown/break pallets), then Pursuer mode has little reason to exist. If SS sucks then Myers in general sucks cause Pursuer mode isnt gonna make up the difference.
- You can't even hold your stalk in Pursuer for the right moment to use both modes interchangeably, as not stalking for too long causes you to lose stalk, so you can't even tactically 99 the ability. If you charge it up you are forced to Pursuer mode, and are 24m TR with it, so saving it is pointless anyway, might as well just go.
- Slaughtering Strike is an M2 and removes a lot of his old perk synergies, restricting his build paths.
- Evil Incarnate lasts much less time overall as well, so you can just get ran pallet to pallet, and you're back to playing peekaboo again.
- Slaughtering Strike is basically just a Pig Dash with and instadown/pallet break tacked on, there is nothing new or unique about the ability that makes Myers feel unique or engaging to play. The only reason it beats Pig Dash is cause it breaks pallets, otherwise it has the same issues Pig Dash does.
Don't wanna just rag on the rework, but for better or worse, old Myers felt like Myers. This new version is weird. It doesn't play like Myers for killer, and it doesn't play like you're against Myers for Survivor. I'm disappointed on both fronts.

Okay so you say he has some issues, maybe he needs tweaks none of us can know that for sure, but if true BHVR will likely take a look at him if stats reveal him to be lacking.
But here is what I don't see, so how do we get from "new Myers have issues" to we need to reimplement some of his old kit in a compromise, because why exactly?? Why not just do some tweaks to his new kit? I mean the old stuff had its reasons to be removed right, why is there a need to tread old ground? That is my question.

I think the best argument for treading old ground is people loved Myers, even though he was weak. A lot of people already played Myers as he was, because of the love of the character. A lot of his mechanics were fun, even if not strong, which is something that is rare in DBD in this meta obsessed generation.
So he has been reworked... fine... but who is it exactly that the rework is actually for? Cause it isn’t the players who love him already... his identity has shifted quite drastically. It isn't the roleplayers, cause he looks pretty far from movie Myers now. It doesn't seem to be the meta crowd, cause he isn’t meta either, and he isn't gonna ever be made bonkers strong. It doesn't seem to be players looking for a unique and interesting playstyle, cause he feels like a weird mishmash of several killers, and arrived at something that feels kinda homogenous. BHVR have basically pulled off the wheel axel to fix a punctured tyre.
If it were up to me, I would switch back to old Myers, then:
- Add the stances as they are with Stalker mode and Pursuer mode with the switch on his secondary power button once "EW2" is unlocked.
- Stalker Mode has his old stalk bonus of 40m with 0.6S/s (Stalk per second) at 2m and 1S/s at 40m.
- Pursuer Mode has a fixed 0.6m/s stalk regardless of distance and is 16m TR with all the 20% buffs (break/stun/vault).
- Once Myers has filled his Stalk Meter, he can hold his secondary power to channel for 1s and become Evil Incarnate, and otherwise switch stance as normal.
- Evil Incarnate stance goes back to 32m TR, causes exposed for all Survivors and gains the extra 20% lunge. He cannot switch back to the other modes until his duration is up. He gains an empowered pallet pallet break (say 40% speed) on his secondary power that costs 15% of his Evil Within meter, with add-ons to reduce this cost. Have his new Execute added for death hook Survivors.
- Tombstone Piece is reworked, e.g. something like allowing his Execution on Death Hook Survivors in any stance for a cost of 50% Stalk.
- Judith Myers Tombstone remains the same as it was before.
In this version every aspect of his stances are useful, he is still very much Myers, but with some additional tools to help him out.

You do know people can love things that are bad for the game right? Like I'm sure some people love tunneling AND camping.
I had a particular love for Old Legion AND Old Freddy myself, should we have kept those around for Love???And, Do you expect all the people who had problems with Myers to patch it with Love themselves?
Seems like an impossible task for BHVR to do that. Just love him mate. 😍♥️I don't agree he has lost identity either, he is still stealthy evil man who looks at you to kill you.
I know Identity is very subjective and will wary on your own perceptions of the Icon, but every game has to make some Ludonarrative compromises to make things fit, but also work as a game. So even I have to make concessions with my disbelief to accept the game.-3 -
Thats fair, and of course all of this is highly subjective at the end of the day.
If you like new Myers that's great, but me? I just don't see Myers, and overhauling him completely resulted in many key parts of him that I really enjoyed being severely compromised for the sake of something that to be frank... doesn't impress me all that much.
To my mind the best parts of old Myers were: -
- Finding clever stalk locations from afar, especially when the audio cue caused survivors to look around, but were unable to spot you, and get summarily twitchy. This was also excellent for Survivor, making me nervous trying to spot him.
- The simplicity of his power that not only made him very accessible, but also made him synergistic with a large number of perks. He was very fun to build around, and gave a lot of surprise elements to his kit.
- The unique gameplay he offered where you were constantly on your toes because you weren't sure how much stalk he had, and had to watch out for his small TR on maps with LOS blockers.
- Large variety of playstyles based on what add-ons he took, that made working out which Myers you were against very engaging, and almost a mind game itself.
- Very faithful adaption of the movies (in some cases to a fault), that gave you a genuinely strong sense of playing Myers.s direct from Halloween 1&2.
The worst parts of Myers were: -
- Tombstone Piece being undeniably his best add-on, and largely unfair, boosting his threatening gameplay to a level where you couldn't realistically counter it in a lot of scenarios, and holding back any buffs because "Tombstone Piece exists".
- Extreme vulnerability to normal m1 killer counters, and suffering constantly from only 4 perk syndrome, which severely cramped how he could be played at higher MMRs.
- EW1 largely entirely pointless and a non factor for the character and his design.
Now admittedly they removed a lot of his problem elements with this rework... but they also removed all the things that were his best qualities too, bar maybe point 3, but even that has quite a few tells now so thats at least compromised if not removed too.
Myers doesn't scare me anymore when I play against him, he annoys me by waving his face at me until he starts dashing around tiles. He also doesn't make me feel like I'm playing Myers anymore; instead of being a malevolent being stalking from afar and waiting for my moment to strike, I'm a goomba waving my face at Survivors until I can start Chucky dashing round tiles... it's just such a let down compared to what he was.
The suggestions in the OP aren't ideal, but I'd take it as a compromise between old and new.

The reasons are simply, because:
A) They already did it with Tuft of Hair, so it's not exactly a difficult thing. He has plenty add-ons which can be safely replaced.
B) It gives him back some of the unpredictability he lost now that Tombstones are basekit and Scratched Mirror is a throw.
C) Old Myers players stop begging for a revert.
Plus, aside Tombstone, there was no reason to change him, only that he was "old", and they "had to modernize him".

• Increase the Stalk range to 40 meters.
it's funny that they nerfed this, turned the missing range into an addon, and now he relies on this addon.
• Evil Incarnate Mode now lasts 60 seconds.
yes, 40 seconds is nothing for a killer that needs to setup and has no good mobility - even Oni's Bloody Fury is longer (or has a similar duration) and that comes with greater mobility and the ability to end matches with one power mode.
• Remove the audio que that plays once you start charging up Slaughtering Strike.
highly doubt they will do this because every killer has a sound cue when they start using their power. If he has no sound cue warning, then it would be unfair.
• Remove the Warning sound that plays once you fill the Stalk meter.
same reason.
Jewelry:
• Unlocks Evil Within Mode.
• Decreases the cooldown of succesful basic attacks by 8% while in Evil Within Mode.will never happen, even when it's limited to his power mode and he cannot use M1 perks well, the devs will never do this or make it as useless as the Houndmaster's Knotted Rope addon.
Lock Of Hair:
• Unlocks Evil Within Mode.
• Extends the duration of Evil Within Mode by 12 seconds after every succesful basic attack.
• Slows down the bleed out timer of all survivors by 20% while you're in the Evil Within Mode.it sounds funny but considering the fact that we increase the duration to 60 seconds and he can destroy pallets so well, I think this addon would be too unhealthy and makes it impossible to ever hit him out of Evil Within Mode. (You mean Evil Incarnate, right?)
Otherwise, I agree with everything else. The rework is very controversial but I think it made him stronger. However, he just needs some buffs to be in a good spot and your suggestions would put him in this healthier-stronger-spot.

I removed the sound that plays once you fill up the stalk meter, because it realistically is not really needed. Since, at 80% stalk you get a warning, and you also get one when Evil Incarnate/Within activates, and also his TR shows up when it fills up… So I figured since you would get 3 warnings right after eachother, a fourth would be excessive.
As for Jewelry, I don't think 8% is too bad, since it's both time-limited and less than release Knotted Rope, but you may be right. I could try to add a downside.
And lastly, Lock of Hair. It would actually only work with the Exposed Power (old T3). Considering that there are no other add-ons that would also extend it (Tombstone, Hair Bow and Reflective Fragment would all be off limits), I thought it'd probably be fine. This is unfortunately the kind of thing I would love to test, but can't.

OOh okay that's your idea for the Lock of Hair addon. Then, I misunderstood it and then it should be fine. Thus, it might be confusing for players why one addon can only be used alongside another one but on the other hand, killers have so many addons and i think a restricted addon is still better than a useless one
1 -
No worries, that happens lol.

Edit 1:
Adjusted some add-on ideas, added a buff to Reflective Fragment, and adjusted the buffs to Evil Incarnate.

Edit 2:
Swapped some add-ons around, added some changes to make Myers feel more fair and more thematic.

Mirror Shard seems like the scream giving away your EW3 might be more of a detriment than a plus…
Though it might be good for hex builds I suppose 🤔🤔🤔
Otherwise, good kek. 🤘

Well, considering that he announces it both visually and by audio (Exposed Icon and the Tier Up sound), I'd say he wouldn't have any worries about stealth by that point.
Unless he would run Tombstone Piece.

This is true, sorry, old Myers comes into my brain more often xD
