Didn't BHVR say they were reworking matchmaking?
Title says it all. Just to keep it short matchmaking is still terrible I would rather just have what matchmaking was like aka grade not your "skill"(massive air quotes) level.

Thats coming all the way in April unfortunately. They said they've talked to alot of different people (Content creators and competitive players) abt what they have in store for that change. Its supposed to be very big and potentially controversial

Okay better question...how does matchmaking work because clearly it doesn't exist everyone has said it's at high time(aka when a lot of folks are playing) but when is that since your looking at a lot of time zones and 24 hours in a single day. Also everything BHVR does is controversial since everyone goes with what the popular twitch streamers say.

Prime time for the game depends on the region (which I know doesn't help). Some places report the most players late into the evening (7 to 11 PM) while some are afternoon to evening (2 to 6 PM).

so mostly after school/work hours

Matchmaking is by far the biggest problem in the game particularly for solo queue survivor. It should be BHVR’s #1 priority to fix, but there doesn’t seem to be anything on the horizon, which is incredibly depressing and will continue to hurt the solo queue experience. I regularly get thrown into lobbies with brand new players, even though I have over 2,500 hours in the game and have no problem escaping 50%+ of the time with competent teammates. There has to be some way of rewarding players who play well in matches - doing gens, long chases, unhooking, healing, etc - but don’t escape because of bad teammates or because the killer tunneled them out. The current system punishes skilled players just because they happen to not get out of the exit gates.

We are working on changes to MMR - which will then help with matchmaking. It's something that's currently being worked on, and naturally it's going to be a pretty big implementation given that MMR affects every part of the game, so it's definitely not something we can just rush out.
Matchmaking is currently working as intended, players are matched within a few points of their actual MMR score - I think the frustrations that some people feel are down to the MMR itself.

Have the people at BHVR ever considered being more transparent and get the community more involved in development? Like Trickster & SM Design Preview on Reddit but more in-depth.
You could let us share feedback on multiple different versions (could be very early prototypes and stuff you're unsure about) let you know which one we feel like sounds/looks the best.

with things like MMR that's a lot more difficult to share, as there's different algorithms and the dreaded maths to take into account, so there's no current plans. I can say that we have had focus groups of players involved in the design process here though and got their feedback directly.

Personally, I hope it is accompanied by a prominently displayed point total on the screen, so that overly self-assured players get humbled.

I would love this as well so I know if my games are hard because I’m playing at a higher MMR or if I just need to get better. MMR being visible would also allow me to see when I am improving, particularly in cases where I might play well but not escape or get many kills.

Oh no about MMR I get it. But for like other stuff? I think the community would really appreciate it.
That way you could save time and avoid going deep into development with something where the majority would dislike it in the end. Working this game forward with efficiency and time-saving efforts would do this game wonders I feel like.

I don’t understand how the average player is expected to notice a difference, if they aren’t allowed to see the actual MMR numbers.
For example, if BHVR makes survivor MMR a lot more team-based, how would the matchmaking itself feel different for the average player?
I think average players would only notice if the changes are extremely drastic, like major attempts to stop players from having large losing streaks.
