Ranking Up is Too Demanding

After playing for a few weeks with this new pipping system, I've changed from the opinion of liking the difficulty bump (as killer) to feeling cheated by it (as survivor).

At rank 11 [Green], I feel like 2 iridescents and 2 golds (a near perfect score) should grant me a double pip.

The thing you have to remember about this game is that getting 4 iridescents is insanely hard for survivors right now. And that only gets more and more difficult as you go up against better killers. The new pipping system has introduced an artificial difficulty ramp and placed it on top of the natural difficulty ramp. This leads to the pipping system demanding far too much of players.

I don't disagree that some sort of change was necessary, but I think the changes made are just too demanding of the current emblem-style ranking system.

I'd personally like to see the pipping system made slightly more lenient across the ranks, but I think what we really need is for the emblem system to be heavily reworked.

    A double pip should be the very exception and definitely not be obtainable easily.

    A ranking system SHOULD be demanding, whats the point otherwise?

    My point is that it's TOO demanding, for no real reason.

    Double pips aren't just meant to be exceptions. They're meant to be a way to detect if you're significantly outclassing other players.

    If I'm consistently getting a 10/12 score on a fundamentally broken scoring system, I'm probably outclassing the killer.

    Killer feels almost perfect to me. They just need to fix how you pip when you decimate the survivors and kill them too quickly to gain pips.

    Survivor is probably "slightly" too hard, and I mean slightly. Even with this new system the only time I'm really ever depiping is when there's a DC on our team, which is happening a lot unfortunately. There's the occasional facecamp for a depip but it's not that often.

    I'm just worried they're gonna get too heavy handed and make it easy again which is what I don't want.

    I agree that I quite like where the killer ranking is right now. It could use a few tweaks, but overall it's pretty good.

    Unfortunately, it's just not the same story for survivors, which is why the new pipping difficulty thing has worked out ok for killers but has had a negative impact for survivors (by my opinion, at least).

    My main issue with emblems is the fact that having a bad opponent has a dramatic impact on your ability to pip, which is why I want a full rework as opposed to it simply being made easier.

    Bonjour, je suis un joueur français pour être sur de bien être compris je mettrai mon message en français et en anglais. Je me permets de réagir à ce sujet. Je n'avais pas joué au jeu et en m'y remettant (quel plaisir) je suis surpris de voir à quel point il est extrêmement difficile de gagner des points (flammes) en tant que tueurs. Je reviens d'une game où j'ai joué la silhouette et où j'ai tué 3 survivants sur 4 après de longues courses poursuites, plusieurs décrochage de crochets, le mal intérieur que j'ai fait monter à 3 reprises au niveau III. une partie vraiment excitante que se soit pour les survivants ou le tueur. J'ai donc été consterné de voir que je n'avais pas gagné une seule flamme alors même que je ne suis que rang 19 en tant que tueur. J'ai vu que vous aviez rééquilibré le système et j'en suis content car je trouvais que l'ancien été un peu trop simple mais là je le trouve définitivement trop punitif et pas assez gratifiant et j'aimerai vous en faire part ;)

    Hello, i'm a French player. I'm back on the game and i'm surprising by the difficult to gain pip in killer mode. I just finish a game with Michael Meyers where I killed 3 of 4 survivors after some exciting chase and some unhook. A very nice game for survivors and me. But i was stunned to see that I don't win any pips whereas I'm only rank 19 with killer.

    So, maybe I don't understand the new system but personnaly I think that it isn't rewarding enough. Thank you for your listening and if you think that I have to do a new topic to post my message, just tell me ;)

    Look at their Twitter. The ranking system is being reverted. Until then, I'm DC any game I don't like 😉.

    They said they are reverting the matchmaking algorithm, not the ranking system.

    Most other games take into account the rank of your opponents too.

    If i escape a rank 2 killer as rank 11 i should be more rewarded than if it was a rank 15 one.

    Same will killer if i decimate a team as a green ranks killer full of purple an reds i should be rewarded more for that.

    If im a rank 2 killer and i ######### on a bunch of rank 12s i should safety pip but i shouldn't up-pip at all.

    I mean, to me it's fine, it should be demanding to rank up, otherwise you get potatoes at rank 1 and its just boring to face

    They need to make it harder for Killers to rank up. It's way too easy at this point compared to survivors

    Except it is easier for killers to reach red ranks - meaning not enough red ranked survivors to go around, long lobby waits (if you even get a lobby they reverted to old matchmaking a couple times and red ranked killers could get no games). Or they match red ranked killers to purple/green ranked survivors, where all your potatoes are mixed in with the good survivors currently - keeping each other down. So you get boring potatoes anyway. You have to play a ridiculous number of games hoping for the right conditions each game (first being no dc's) just to pip all the way to rank 1.

    Also targets of Moris should never depip .... It is really frustrating the new system to be demanding and then we have mori on the other hand thats not really that hard to use

    I think its too hard for survivors to rank up (which is in turn why every rank 1 killer streamer is always playing against green ranks). Its fine for killer I would say.

    It's just something to shoot for every month. If I don't have some sort of goal, no matter how lame it is, I just lose interest.

    I'm glad I don't have an audience or an ego demanding that I rank up. I just play and let my wins/losses determine who I'm matched with and against. That said, there's the occasional mismatch having me verse a Rank 2 while at Rank 12.

    Getting 9+ hooks SHOULD NOT be a requirement to earning a 3-kill Devout gold. The gold requirement should be lowered to 70% at the least.

    The problem with that though is that you have even less players at high ranks. It's scarce enough as it is.

    Easy solution: Make it easier for survivors to rank up. That way lower killers get fewer survivors outclassing them and higher killers get faster lobbies.

    Survivor is too demanding I agree.


    killee, Im mostly just fed up with getting silvers because if hatch escapes/ dcs/ people dying on first ir second hook and needing double iri + gold to make up for it.

    The ranking system was a little to easy before yes but now it is way to difficult to rank up. I personally have 1000+ hours in the game and cant get past green ranks, even as killer it is easier than survivor but still not easy. I just made an account so that I could help address this issue. I have had friends who stopped playing the game just because the ranking system is broken.

    Survivor is too demanding, killer is still easy.
