Physics in dbd
Am i one of the few people who thinks physics are very important in games like dbd? Realistic physics with clothing, hair and etc make a very high difference in gameplay for me. I personally like watching things flow like skirts, dresses etc, so when i buy a skin and it has stiff physics it puts me off and makes me not want to use it again. Im not sure why BHVR has different physics for each hair, and clothing. In my opinion it should be kind of a priority to fix, since EU 5 every dress has had pants physics, which results on clothing clipping through the characters legs. Anyone else thinks theyre important?

I'd say me, but honestly at this point... I'd rather the game work than not work and just look pretty. Tbh, I don't even buy skins anymore, so how the game looks doesn't matter that much to me. Sadly, I've had to lower the visual quality of my game to get decent performance 😑

Yeah, of course physics matter and it’s a standard in games but in DBD it’s a mess. Every update breaks more stuff, and almost every new cosmetic drops with broken hair or clothing physics. Their ‘fix’ is usually to either turn physics off entirely or make it look worse, just so they can slap a ‘fixed’ label on it, rather than actually hiring someone who knows how to handle Unreal Engine 5 physics.

I couldnt agree more, it is visually unappealing and to me the fact they keep releasing skins MONTHLY or even weekly while there are many broken is offensive to the players who had bought the previous skins, such a shame

More realistic physics would definitely help. Though I am afraid that it would make the game significantly more taxing on the hardware running it.

Honestly at this point id preffer it. Anyone who struggles with hardware can just use low physics. We are in 2025 at this point who doesnt have a decent gpu, we are not asking for hyper realistic graphics, just that theyre good enough

I think the problem isn´t if its possible for the players but more for the code of dbd.
I mean i like some panty shots from Sable or Skull Merchant but imagine they would try to programm physics into the game…
Helicopter hair and missing body parts incoming.

I'd agree but the ugly survivor animations/lack of them are probably what take me out of this game the most lmao it's REALLY ugly, then there is all the cosmetic glitches too.

None of the consoles can change the graphics settings. I think it's locked at Good.

Honestly I don't care at all about the physics of hair and cloths. It's of course nice to have, but I'd rather have the game to work first.
Those physics would make the game more unstable, now that wouldn't be a problem normally if it's actually optimized good, but dbd still has framedrops in situations where there shouldn't be any. So I think they should fix this first and then they can fix the graphics and physics.
(That being said I really like the graphics of dbd right now, they are not as blurry and dirty like before but they are also not high quality like you see in newer games - it's the perfect middle for dbd in my opinion)

Honestly, I'd much rather a game that works without setting my PC on fire, thank you very much…

Those on the PlayStations have always complained about them sounding like airplanes taking off trying to run DBD 🤣

Sounds just like my laptop right now, with nothing running in the background, and ISTG it's trying to launch itself into space.

I agree. I bought the new Cheryl skin and while the cosmetic itself looks amazing, the shirt not flowing in the wind while shes running looks really weird.
1 -
Looks more like armor movement rather than a shirt doesn't it?

Damn crazy you think the current graphics are nice. We are in 2025 and dbd is still stuck in 2016 optimizing, adding physics to clothes and hair wouldnt ruin the games optimization (if it even has any), theyre just lazy and dont want to work on every single piece of hair or clothing. Same goes with hairs, textures are ass and they all look like fried pasta, or are see through because the material used is the incorrect one.

It's rather sad that you can't live without ultra 4k graphics. I don't care about how sharp or rather good it looks, I just want a style that's fitting to the game. I also find that the first game of the gothic series looks great, it's actually one of my favorite graphic-styles.
Besides that I agree that they could and should optimize it better. Also yes it shouldn't make a difference, but probably would make one because dbd is badly optimized at the moment.

Yes, honestly i cant live without ultra 4k graphics because currently in almost 2026 there is no reason any game should look graphically bad, with all the tools and optimizations there are available, its not 2016 anymore where games could look graphically poor, dbd is at its worst right now and the devs literally do not care, all these health updates they promised will not happen as they said they would, and the devs only react when there is massive backlash from the community, hopefully one day they wake up and start doing positive stuf for their game or just sell it to a competent company who can handle this awful coding they made themselves

Like literally look at the bug reporting section, its FULL of daily bugs and they take months to fix simple sutff or dont fix it at all, i have literally never seen a game with so many bugs so often, and mind you ive been playing since 2017, ive seen this game evolve and it has fallen behind.
1 -
Yea like why does kate have the only jiggle physics in the game while lara crofts are stapled on
4 -
Just give all survivors and killers jiggle physics!
2 -
Well only thing it does is hindering you to enjoy older games, I honestly can't stand it anymore. It feels like all that counts is graphics today, the games simply don't get better just because they look better (if even). You maybe right that it doesn't hold up to newer games, but I still think it doesn't look bad especially because it's much more fitting than some until dawn graphics (yes I came not up with something better right now).
We will see when they do something for the game, but that's much more important than the look of the game, so you'll have to wait quite a while.

Since playing texas chainsaw massacre before it got abandoned, i have to admit DBD has to improve its aesthetics for survivor. The game visually looks good but feels like plastic sometimes. I think it is also urgent to improve some of the animations besides the physics... Should be possible with UE5.

GUN is a terrible company yet they still managed to make a visually appealing game with amazing graphics lmao
2 -
they managed to make a good game overall. Here’s a literal example of ´devs killed the game’.
1 -
yes, my point is they made a visually great game, and GUN is way smaller than BHVR.

As long as they don't link the parts, sure. Otherwise, I'd go for more > realism. Frankly, I don't care if cosmetics bug out and a lot of times I'll wear it just because of that.

I care more about the gameplay than how the game looks. Idk if that's an old school thing but if the gameplay is simply unenjoyable then no matter how good the game looks, I will never play it. It's like polishing a 💩 you know? Give it eyes and a mouth but it's still 💩.

realistically its way easier to fix clothing physics and hair textures than to fix this games gameplay
