Playstation Portal?
Does anyone here own a Portal? I've been wanting a handheld, and with the new update to the Portal that not only allows you to use it without a console running but you don't even need to own one, I'm curious how they perform. Does DbD run okay on it? Is it worth getting in general?

it really depends on internet speed to be able to properly connect and run but that’s probably the least noticeable thing when playing.
Especially in demanding games there’s a very slight input delay on most everything, so when it comes to dbd skill checks you gotta press super early in order to hit greats, and fine movement can be tricky.
But id really only recommend the portal if you travel a lot and you known you’re gonna be in a place with good wifi. Most hotel WiFis that I’ve tried haven’t worked with the portal unfortunately so take this with a grain of salt. Until the portal sees more optimization, I can’t justify the purchase in my opinion.

Would you say dbd is playable (and winnable)? Is one role trickier than the other? I wouldn't mind it for just story-based games, if it's reliable. I've also heard some iffy think about the longevity of the joysticks.
Mostly, I can't decide if I should pull the trigger on it or wait for the rumored portable option that may come out for PS6. The Steamdeck is just too expensive.

yeah it’s absolutely playable and winnable on both sides, survivor more than killer.
You’ll most lost likely have a tougher time especially on killer.
The joy sticks are your standard 20 year old tech so yeah stick drift will be issue if you play consistently. But in my opinion it’s the smaller sticks that get me. The Portal sticks are about 10-15% smaller than a regular ps5 controller leading to some moments when you flick your stick your finger can slip off.
If you’re on the go, and have a lot of story games to play or slower games (stardew is my personal choice for the portal) then yeah go ahead. But expect lower than average performance for multiplayer games. If you want you can wait a little longer to see if those rumors are true, but if you really can’t wait I’m sure you’ll make good use of it, just make sure to also get a screen protector, they don’t come with one but you can buy a pack on Amazon from anywhere from 10-40$
