Can the "Play Map Showcase" mode be made into a permanent/recurring feature for achievement hunters?

There are many achievements that require playing on a specific map, which older players could probably get easily, but newer players will suffer now that map offerings are nerfed from 2025.

The top 2 hardest trophies as a result of this would be:

  1. Outbreak Breakout: escape from Racoon City by opening the exit gate (yourself) 20 times. As for why this is difficult, you may read posts made by other people, such as this, which mentions that theoretically speaking, you need to play 500 matches to have a chance at this; and another person who actually got it said it took them 2 years of gameplay.

2. Hemophobia: escape from Crotus Penn Asylum without losing a single drop of blood.

Since people are sensitive about map offerings, I think it would be better to have the "Play Map Showcase" game-mode as a permanent/recurring game mode.

People may say that "just play the game and it will come naturally," but I do have things to do other than playing for hours every day. Even if I play badly on purpose just to move on to the next match quickly, it is not fun for me since I prefer a stealthy playstyle, and it is definitely not fun nor fair for my teammates to have me die so quickly as a result of excessive risk taking from my part (e.g. trying to loop the killer after being unhooked without healing first).

Further, because I have to equip the best, strongest perks possible, it is impossible to change up my build if I wish to experiment with other perks, which makes gameplay quite boring and repetitive. For example, due to the requirement of Hemophobia trophy (don't get hit even once), I assume that if I do get the Crotus Prenn map eventually, I will probably have to stay as far away from the generators as possible + abandon my teammates and leave them to die on hook if they are being camped to avoid being caught by the killer, so I have to run 100% of my games with these perks:

  • Left Behind: shows the aura of the hatch
  • Open Handed: increases the aura reading range
  • Stake Out: shows auras of gens, totems, chests for some time after a gen is completed. The idea is to go for less risky and meaningless objectives which the killer cannot see with their aura reading abilities, generally speaking, such as dull totems and chests, so that the idle crows do not give my position away while I'm waiting for the team to die ASAP.

Finally, I think going for trophies might incentivize some people (trophy hunters) to get the DLCs and keep coming back to the game, thereby securing more sales for the company. I say this because I have checked trophy lists and gone for the Platinum for quite a few games, and in my experience + according to a Google search, it seems that Dead by Daylight is number 2 in the world when it comes to the most (DLC) trophies, only beaten by Train Sim World 2.

The map-related achievements issue does really need to be resolved, but to my understanding doesn't Play Map Showcase work on a different queue? Having it permanently for every map would cause matchmaking issues.

I personally think changing the achievements themselves is the better route. I don't understand why Hemophobia ever map-specific, and Outbreak Breakout could be changed to something like "Escape via the Exit Gates on both the East and West wing of RPD".

  • I meant to say that one map should be available for 1 or more days. For example, let's say

On Feb 1: Play Map Showcase= Crotus Prenn Asylum
On Feb 2: Play Map Showcase= Racoon City East Wing
On Feb 3: Play Map Showcase= The Decimated Borgo
    etc.

They could also run newer maps for longer durations, or increase the duration when a new media for some licensed IP comes out to attract more players (for example, Feb 3-5 could be for Racoon City if there was a new Resident Evil game coming on Feb 7 or something).

Ah, I understand. That's more reasonable, I'm not against it seeing as having a single Map Showcase active doesn't seem to have affected queue times that much- Having them active more constantly for older maps wouldn't be a bad thing.
