Restore the ability to use Tab as a keybind
Tab needs to be able to be rebound to other actions. I have used TAB as my sprint key for the entirety of my time playing DBD. I have seen many other posts about this topic, but I wanted to add another one to help make sure people understand how vital this is.

I am just curious how are you using it as sprint key? Like I mean I have never seen anyone using it for that. Do you guys tilt your hand or what is the layout you guys use to use it as a sprint key?

They switched the match details menu to TAB, because now you get the settings when you press ESC.
Even though they likely could have done it so for example pressing ESC twice would take you straight to settings....

I use my ring finger for sprint instead of my pinky. Totally fair question haha, I know it's not the "norm" it's just always what felt right for me

Whoever decided to change the Tab key binding needs to be fired. I cannot play the game because I am handicapped. Dead by Daylight hates handicapped people. The UI designer needs to be transparent and just come out and say it.

- The add-on color changes
- Myers having no VFX to announce he entered Tier 3
- This.
I think that they don't do this intentionally, but they do neglect large amounts of accesibility issues that exist.

I have this theory that BHVR makes some insanely terrible change every patch that they know is terrible and nobody is asking for just to rile people up and generate buzz on the socials, which keeps people talking about the game. It’s the old quote from Oscar Wilde: “the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.” I’m thoroughly convinced that they do this on purpose because it’s the only logical explanation for making decisions that are this bad.

It's definitely baffling to me that they made this decision, but I tend to not assume they had bad intentions. Definitely seems like a case of "certainly no one is using the TAB key" but they didn't do their proper research. Frankly I'm confused why the match details were moved from the ESC menu to begin with, it was nice to have one location to see everything during a match.

That’s the things - there was zero reason to change from the ESC button, nobody was asking for it, yet they did it anyway, spending time and resources that could have been spent on far more pressing game issues. This kind of thing happens all the time.

Posting this for others in this position - you can use an application called SharpKeys to rebind keys on your keyboard. I have updated my tab key to point to shift, and it is working. I can use Tab again. This is NOT a long term solution, but it at least makes the game playable for me

I imagine that wouldn't work for those using M&K on the consoles.

Honestly no idea if there is something similar for consoles, but probably not since it requires changing Windows Registry settings to remap the keys.

BHVR will make odd changes, claim it was community supported, and if you dig into the forums you will find one post with little to no views asking for it.

Yeah, the TAB button and all key layout really need to be available to be changed to each person needs. That's crazy that they took it away!

I also use the tab button for sprint and I am LIVID after finding out about this. Such an absurd oversight from BHVR. Absolutely unacceptable for a game of this size and popularity. 7 years of training my hand like that down the drain I guess. I hope this is fixed ASAP.

Right? It's actually wild how broken I felt trying to play without tab as sprint, muscle memory is no joke

3000 hours in the game, over a thousand dollars invested and the Tab keybind restrictions just made the game unplayable for me because of my preferred settings. I’m an sooooo disappointed. Please let me bind the Tab key!!!!

I have an idea on how BHVR can fix this very easily:
The Match Details menu simply becomes part of the Esc Menu.
You click Esc, and then the option to see Match Details by pressing Tab appears.
Easy, problem solved.

I am really disappointed to see that this STILL has not changed. Even using a workaround means that I can no longer actually view the match details screen in game. Please BHVR, you've been trying to make changes for better accessibility, allowing ALL keys to be rebound is part of that.
I also cannot use my tab key for other things on my computer without unbinding it and restarting my laptop. Absolutely ridiculous to have to do that for a game.

Some of their changes nobody asked for are really frustrating.
I am still annoyed they removed the "Next" and Previous" buttons in the char select as i always used them to cycle through my chars. Now it is still more clunky to use.
