New killer feels awful on Console
This is a killer who requires perfect precision to get hits with his power which already isn't easy on console, but on top of that on console you take longer to adjust your aim, losing more distance because you can spawn your power on props by mistake. I know it can be fixed with a lot of skill, but they all combine to just kinda feel bad. Also, there is a bug where if you cancel your vine attack without using it, you can't enter the upside down. Overall, just feels bad

Which is why I'm not buying him. At this point I know a killer with any sort of ranged attack will suck on console. I don't know why it's so hard to include the other half of the playerbase. Other games manage it.

It ended up about where I predicted. The vine attack's harder to land than Nurse blinks, yet easier (and certainly less clunky on average) to use than Pinhead's gateway. It's not the fault of the design or the programming of the power (though it can get finnicky with certain asset geometry), just an unfortunate symptom of a larger problem with DbD's gamepad camera control implementation.
The cadence at which you can use the power, the newness factor of people not knowing how to deal with it properly yet, and doing a little bit of patient zoning helps a bit with achieving results semi-consistently right now, but I'm not sure I'd ever want to "main" this killer for any length of time. I could see it being pretty mentally exhausting in the long run.

Not to mention the input delay. It's already bad enough, but on a killer whose power is all about prediction hits, you are playing at a gigantic disadvantage combined with the controller aim.
In general console DBD seems to be designed for 3rd person survivor gameplay. if they release some kind of stats showing that console has significantly more survivor mains than killer mains compared to pc ratio, it would not be surprising at all.

I was playing him on console last night and was landing my vine hits just fine. Just takes a little getting used to.

What do you want bhvr to do give cheat level aim assist like other games do lol Time to get with times and use a real input instead of holding back the entire game industry with rollers

Hope not. I'll try him out tonight if my kids give me a chance. PC will always be the superior option but as long as he's playable I'll be happy

First-person games will never be easy/smooth on controller. Never.

Not true at all I'm on controller and I'm having a great time playing as the First aiming his vine attacks is not a problem.
This is a first in a long time an aiming killer felt this good on controller for me.
3 -
I see him being a case like Unknown where after people learn how to easily avoid his attacks, he ends up half as powerful and just as frustrating
-2 -
Isn't mouse and keyboard an option on console now? Not saying that helps if you only have a controller but that might be an option for some people
3 -
I will test him out and report back.
I tested him a little in Customs and had basically zero issue with it, but I'll give it a little more time.

Titanfall, Apex Legends, The Finals, Battlefield, CoD is apparently pretty good these days, Marvel Rivals (guaranteed it's not first person), Arc Raiders (again, 3P, but who's counting), lots more (including non-shooters) I'm probably forgetting to mention. Hell, even Meet Your Maker felt great on controller.
It might not ever feel smooth/easy for someone used to MnK, but for someone who's been on controller forever, developers across the world have made great strides to smooth out the gamepad experience at a baseline within the past decade (and no, not just with aim assist). BHVR (or at least the DbD part of BHVR) is behind in that regard. Controller in DbD is very clunky compared to a lot of other titles that have came out after.
Maybe. I think he's much more of a pubstomper than Unknown by default though, even on console. And pointing and clicking is less mentally taxing than calculating bounce logic for any given surface collision in the game.

It is, but I bet most of not all use the controller they have instead of buying a keyboard and mouse too. However with either input device that dreaded input-delay persists on console.

For any bugs, such as the Upside Down issue, please report this on BetaHub for the team to investigate! Thank you!

tone down your sensitivity to 25% first. then try to adapt to the camera settings and once you're used to a slower sensitivity you can perform better. I play Vecna on PC with an xbox controller and i am not struggling. but then again I do have a higher FPS compared to console so i do technically have a slight advantage over you for using a controller but still. the slower sensitivity helps with aiming his power

Wait this is a bug? I thought all The First needs are controller improvements.
2 -
Pff just spam your ability and you will get it. That's how all of my matches go. Spam spam spam boom boom boom so much fun YIPEEEEEE
And I thought Kaneki was stupid killer design.1 -
he is worth it for the perks alone tough

I'll wait for the shrine. That's free.

Sorry for the confusion! I was specifically responding to this:
Also, there is a bug where if you cancel your vine attack without using it, you can't enter the upside down. Overall, just feels bad

dead zone adjustments or something could help.
seriously choom, go look at marvel Rivals controller settings then come check dbds.

People asked this before and some claim he feels bertter than nurse or pinhead but when I looked how his ability works I thought he wouldnt be so good on console due to his ability being very simular to nurses or pinheads in fuction.
Tbh I’ll wait for two weeks for first nerfs if they srcrew him up or wont be stupid.

Agreed, hes not as bad as huntress or nurse, im surprised they didnt give him a lullaby but the fact that he has to hit 2 of his power before being able to do anything scary is annoying. And it's for a limited time. His power should be something he builds into like nemesis if we're forced to use him as a 110 killer
1 -
Exactly. There is no excuse when the majority plays on console.
5 -
You're such a child.
6 -
Sorry you don't get to have the devs give u cheats because you actively choose to use a roller

Finally got around to trying him today (PS5). I play at 100% sensitivity and I definitely felt it my first game, but my hits were getting more accurate by late game. Second game, even better. A few more games and i think i'll be fine. I probably should have done as another suggested and dropped my sensitivity down, but i didn't even think of that going in lol

I keep Huntress at 70% and probably will start there for him too.

There is nothing wrong with players asking for controller improvements for the game. For playing killer especially.
There's almost nothing option-wise for DBD in the settings for them. In most games at minimum you can mess around with both dead zones within the sticks and the response curves. And even if you use M&K for DBD there still an input delay on the consoles.
I encourage you to borrow a friend's PS5 or Switch or whatever and judge for yourself.

I'll try at 70% tomorrow and see how i go
1 -
He's completely fine on controller.
You can't really flick, but you shouldn't need to.

Thanks for proving my point.

Gross gatekeeping

I've played a few games now and it takes more getting used to then anything IMO; messing with sensitivity can also help a lot. I have both PC and Console and it feels far better on PC without a doubt but once you play a few matches on controller you start to get used to it.
He's certainly a bit harder to play then many other killers but it's nowhere near the struggle of Pinhead/Trickster on controller. Considering how strong he is in general, I don't think he needs any special console support; he's plenty playable.3 -
Are you going to buy us all gaming PCs then? Because i checked my bank account and you saying "PC is better" doesn't appear to have made any more money appear.

Mfw when I pay $1000 for a PC equivalent of a Series X not counting peripherals.
Not everyone is rich, and money should not dictate the experience you get. Maybe if it were a graphically intense game, like BF6. Except oops, BF6 runs at a stable 60+ FPS on Series X, unlike DBD.
DBD looks like a PS3 game and runs like one too. It still has the controller settings like CoD 2.

I don't have any particular issues. The only game I find difficult with a controller is Trickstar. That's not just because I've continued playing with a controller, but I also think the game's controller controls have improved over the years. Many people think it's a waste of time because they want results as quickly as possible. And that's a valid point. Not cost effective
