consider making Kindred basekit for players outside of a SWF (minus the killer aura reading)

I think this has been brought up a couple of times, but I wanted to reignite the discussion because it would be a simple addition and would make the gap between SWF and Solo Queue smaller. The DBD team has done great with giving more info to players, but anything that buffs Solo Queue and makes it so you don't lose a game solely because of a lack of information is great. I know everyone want's to be able to see eachothers perks, or have a ping or communication system, or what not but with what we''ve gotten in the last couple years (seeing when someones on a gen, totem, exit gate, anti-camp progress, etc) I think this would be another big push that makes the Solo Queue experience a lot more enjoyable.

They can use the perks to get the info.

why should you be punished for playing Solo Queue by having to give up one of four perk slots to get something people in SWF get for free? All this change would do is give info to people, not all in the same party which is a good thing right?

Its so in every game you play that has teams. I play solo queue and don't want this in the game if you want to have that info run Kindred.

But DBD is the only team game I can think of that has zero text or voice chat in-game aside from before and after the match. And even then, people on console can't see what you type or say anything to you, so you can't communicate what perks you have half the time. I'm honestly shocked you wouldn't want this if you play solo but more power to you I guess ✌️.

I already can tell whats going on in the match without seeing the auras the info they added already is enough. You can't even fix SWF problem but making the game have everything handed to you does not make it better either.

What if they added a ping version of Kindred ?

Every 10 or 15 seconds or whatever a Kindred effect occurs for a few seconds while on hook, without the Killer Aura. The numbers could be messed with and tested out.

With that the perk wouldn't need changing, and solos could consider running another perk sometimes.

It'd make all the games more consistent for both sides.

What does this even mean? Consistently what? Better for survivor and worse for killer? Yeah it would, so what are survivor losing in exchange and/or what are killers getting in exchange. Because its gonna be a huge basekit buff for survivors, and killers are going to have to get an equally huge basekit buff to compensate for the ever increasing better survivor efficiency that comes from giving more and more free info.

The problem is SWF, but power creeping survivor constantly is equally as awful for game balance.

Like I said before, there's nothing they can do or add to stop people from using voice chat for comms and giving info to your friends for free that would normally require you to run a perk or two to get the same result in Solo Queue. It would make games more consistent by shortening the gap between Solo Queue and SWF so overall game balance can be adjusted a lot easier, like maybe reducing hook timers or something.

Thats sadly not how it works unless the measure to "lessen the gap" literally is "add voicechat to dbd". The omnipresent "solo-swf gap" technically isnt even real or about solo and swf, as those already are identical.

Its more of a gap between using comms or not. Cuz people on comms will use the free aura even better than those who cant give orders or strategize together.

Survivor+buffs will not catch up to (Survivor+buffs)*comms

The only buff ive seen to only target comms would be a chat menu with premade callouts. Even a ping menu wouldnt lessen the gap without buffing the comms users.

I would prefer they add chat wheel with basic call outs. That way players still have to put some effort into it, but there would be the option for them to do it.

that'd be good too! I think DBD mobile had something like that iirc but I didn't play mobile so idk. I know they had a thing where you saw your teammate's perks as you loaded into the match

    Yeah, they had both.

It's kinda funny how at some things DBD mobile was more advanced than PC version, I would expect it to be the other way…

Comms isn't the strongest factor when it comes to solos vs. SWF imo. Being about le to choose your teammate is far more powerful.

You know what they're running and why. You know if they're doing a challenge/daily/adept etc. You know they won't let you get to second stage if possible, and that they'll come back for you. Over time you learn their strengths and weaknesses and tendencies too.

No way most of that can be replicated among solos.

kindred should be basekit but the killer aura should not be seen. this can help new players know when to go for unhooks, and its not even cheating due to the fact that swf can callout their location anyway. this is soloq quality of life.

In the 5 years I've been playing this game Kindred is a perk that has almost never left my build. In this instance knowing if someone is going for an unhook is almost as good as being in a SWF for the Solos.

It's definitely a good idea, there's not really any good reason not to pursue something at least similar to this.

I could see a full binary "if hooked survivor, then aura on other survivors" being a bit too good/handholdy, but a ten to twelve second long aura read so everyone can get a feel both for where their teammates are and to see who makes the move to leave their gen and go save would be very appropriate.

DBD's solo queue operates at a deficit not just compared to SWF, but compared to solo queue in other games. Some basic information measures like this to help bring it up to par would be good for everyone in the long run.

True, but then in soloQ it becomes a necessity, leaving you with only 3 perk slots.

iirc it's just because DBD Mobile was able to be built from the ground up with these things in mind, while normal DBD is going off of 2017 spaghetti code that breaks something every time they add something new to the game. I'm sure the devs WANT to add these things, but they literally can't. As dumb as it sounds, a DBD 2 would probably benefit the game a lot with a fresh start, but will probably never happen what with all the licenses and all.
