Any tips on how to survive against trickster after the rework?

As title says. I don't often face trickster, and now the new rework for trickster has dropped, I'm encountering them often and would like advice as I struggle to escape when they're throwing blades at me. Particularly on open maps.

Pre-run towards a loop with high walls. Avoid dropping pallets (unless you're sure you can stun him), otherwise you'll give away at least three blades. Or pre-drop...pre-drop well in advance. When repairing a generator, you need to think ahead and plan where you'll need to protect yourself from a possible blade launch. Always have an escape plan, this applies to all killers, but especially to him. If you're in an open area, or he's camping out on a hook, well, there's nothing you can do (unless the killer is a total idiot).

The most important thing is to understand how the new Tricksters think. Since their movement speed is nerfed, most of their shots in loops will be short burst of 1-2 blades around corners. Tricksters will often pull out their knives in advance. Take shack for example, when they run around the corner, they expect you to hug a wall and will be pre-aiming there. If you want to be difficult as survivor, what you want to do is go around corners and run in unexpected directions to other obstacles, so that Trickster keeps pre-aiming at the wrong places as often as possible, which often leads them at failing to land blades or being too late to fire if there's enough obstacles to take unexpected paths to

You need to think about positioning all the time. This is much more important against ranged killers.

avoid low loops, you will die quickly
abuse high walls/stones, they are the best
remember that he is 4.4m/s now and you can make more circles on the pallet
lose LOS often, this matters a lot
Be patient
Be unpredictable, because this punishes 4.4 killers a lot (just send it sometimes)

Honestly, it's very similar counterplay to before but adding in that hes 4.4: Break LOS, prerun and loop tightly. Happy to explain why if needed, but the others in the thread have done a stellar job of lots of those points already.

It's all in the pathing, bit of wobble in your run will help throw off a few knives, aim to break LOS as much as possible. Pallets are a real trap with trickster, if you drop a pallet while he has knives up and clear los you are giving 2-3 free knife hits. Same goes for pallet vaults. Stay close to walls and don't forget to crouch at low walls. Every knife you dodge gets him closer to running out and then he's just a slow M1 killer. Watch for it, soon as he runs out of knives they're likely to go to the nearest locker, giving you chance to open up a bit of distance or hide and escape chase entirely.

The new Trickster is generally not very good. I would honestly argue that the changes were more of a nerf than a buff, and that MiNA is Pay to Lose.

Unfortunately the counter is dependent upon the map. Trickster is instantly at a disadvantage if given a Map with a lot of rooms or high walls, and in the same breath, survivors are instantly at a disadvantage if given a map with mostly open spaces.

I'm a 55% kill rate Trickster (Median is 45%).

Hold W and find a structure that breaks line of sight

Don't pull pallet thinking it'll save you. I bank on this from newbs and then blade you up 3-4 times easily

Run sporadically

Abuse the trickster's 4.4 m/s

Overall, the trickster is a weak C- tier killer from Kill rate stats globally. To succeed on trickster, you really need to know how to pick fights, focus on the vulnerable, and try your best on gen slow down. We can't win every chase. That means you need to be a good posture in a chase and you'll be fine. Some loops on the new map are literally unwinnable as trickster. I just abandon the chase cause it's a waste of time.

Short loops with pallet are always hell to deal with for 110 killers. Just greed a lot on those.

stealth can be okay. he has his burst of killer Instinct at s rank but I had some fun with "barefoot cheryl" where I just shadowstepped a LoS blocking area and ran it with Lightfooted.
