So is the First's Underground Attack undodgeable if you don't have sprint burst ready?

Had a game against the First, he used the Undergate Attack from right behind me while I was running (not infront of me, not under me, I have a clip, he was behind me), I continue to run in a completely straight line and I get hit? Is there any counterplay I am missing? (I usually have around 60 - 80 ping, didnt check the killers ping)

If you react quickly enough, it is just about dodgeable without perks. Dependent on where you are, of course.

Here, you go. I didn't check ping, but as you see neither me nor the killer had any bad internet notification.

(Also, don't mind my build, and I play normally and help my team, but I am doing a tome/rift challenge to get the hatch escape, I have been trying for 20+ games and got sick of it so I started running Left Behind.)

First thing is understanding what his power does, he has 1,84 meters wide area from which his powers hitbox will come (the underground attack) and you as survivor get sound cue when he charges his power and is ready to use it or spam it and after he spams it the underground attack than in that 1,84 area the vines will apear and stack or injure survivor depending if clocks are active and theres delay after he uses underground attack it takes 0,6 seconds to spawn so survivor makes 4 m/s and if he spawns that underground attack totaly precise under you while you run thhan you have like 2,4 or something like that meters of disatnce you he wont hit you.

For first to hit you he must predict where will your hitbox be (yeah I use hitbox because when survivor runs his hitbox is on his butt or back of his feet thats why some things that should visualy past it hit you like huntress hatchets because one thing are models and other are hitbox just look it up on internet to understand better if you dont know) so he must predict where you will be in moment when his vines from the ground appear and one of worst things you can do is run straight all the time because if he sees you you are predictiable and he will have easier time to preaim his shot to hit you.

It yould be becuase of ping but that you must know what ping had killer and what you had but in general first isnt that op killer unless you are very predictiable or the killer player has insane prediction where you will doge but something like this is rare and most of them will miss a lot if you wont run straight all the time especialy when they have line of sight on you and doge after you hear that sound cue and pay attention of ground.

Edit: I saw a clip and it looks like your hitbox was kinda to end of his hitbox Idk what was ping but hitbox is at survivors butt and it looks like you were at endline of his hitbox when he pops up from the ground.

It looks like he initiated it right under you. Running in a straight line and not looking around against Henry is a no-go. You have to fake him out.

Also, if you want hatch, bring a key (and also use it to open chests for your team, and for aura read) and a main building map offering. You'll get it eventually, just naturally. Killers go to shack when they see a secret offering. And if they do close it, you have the key.

Thanks, but doesn't turning around reset my momentum and makes avoiding the attack even less consistent?

Not really. Because in order to keep up with you and just baaarely hit you on the edge of the hitbox he has to commit to moving very slowly in the direction he thinks you'll be moving. If you fake him out and turn around (especially if you have the room to turn 90 degrees instead of a full 180, he will most likely miss you. Undergate is actually very forgiving for survivors changing their direction even like almost a second after it is initiated. Obviously, try to turn without losing your momentum, if you do stand still to change directions it will hit you.

Like undergate is so unreliable that I legit just decided to go full Pizza Goggles and trade damage for mobility. It's basically impossible to hit survivors who are even vaguely aware of you and not totally out-positioned haha

You need to swerve at the right moment to force him to emerge at the wrong time for him. Momentum can be an issue if your on console/controller—it is for me, which is why I often get hit against him—but on KBM, less so. Sharp turns are your friend. This advice applies to vines too. Move erratically and don't repeat your motions. Henry is prediction-based. He struggles against chaotic choices.

The thing you don't want to do in the Undergate radius is make multiple weird moves too quickly, cause you'll be stuck in the range for sure. Vaulting is usually a bad idea too, even if you have Lithe, just because the action of the vault slows you down. It can work with Finesse though.
