I think my biggest disappointment is to discover that there is nothing for Killers to do in this event except guard even MORE objectives than usual.

I think it's great that more Powers and Perks work with Generators, but there is nothing fun or interesting for Killers to do, just harder gameplay conditions. Which, on its own, is not a problem! I love that we have to challenge ourselves in new ways.

It is great that as a Survivor, I get new gameplay. But where is that aspect for Killers? This feels like a very Survivor-centric event and I don't feel any incentive to play Killer as there aren't interesting things for me to try or do.

There are no new "toys" for Killers to actively engage or play with, is the way it feels when I look at what this event offers for me when I queue for Killer.

Everything that this event offers for Killers is passive: Which is, mainly, Blood Cans make Survivors almost unnoticeably easier to track. There is nothing that the Killer has to actively engage with that meaningfully changes gameplay in an interesting way - the Blood Pumps really only serve as additional patrol points/patrol locations on top of Generators. Patrolling is something that we already do as Killer, and the idea of more points to patrol isn't an interesting change in gameplay for me. I do think that it is interesting that patrolling Blood Generators offers a slightly different meta, since the Cans deplete while Survivors run, but it still feels like a rather passive side effect of gameplay that we don't really feel or notice as Killer.

(I want to reiterate, having more patrol points isn't a problem, but rather the fact that there is nothing new gameplay-wise for Killers to actively engage with)

Last year, this mode was pretty Survivor sided. There were some good changes to mitigate that. Killers can see the auras of nearby gas pumps, and perks and powers work on blood gens. I feel like this mode is still Survivor sided, since this mode essentially adds 4 more objectives for Survivors to get progress at, without changing the amount of obejctives needed to complete.

Now, I felt this way until I realised how strong Ruin is. Hex: Ruin works on blood gens, which Survivors need to cleanse anyway, making defensive totem build extremely powerful. I do feel like this mode is leaning more towards Survivor without Ruin in play, but if the killer brings Ruin build that is a really huge buff for them.

There are still issues tho. First of all, the pump spawn logic feels really weird. I got games where pumps where right next to gens. Sometimes pumps have multiple gens nearby, and other times I got multiple pumps between multiple blood gens, making completeting them really easy.

Another issue is that this mode feels kind of boring on killer. Like, when I play killer yeah I need to check gas pumps in addition to gens, but other than that I am not really feeling like I am playing an event mode. Just normal killer gameplay.

I'm hearing that Ruin and DMS are particularly strong. When you empty a pump at the gen, you automatically let go, and DMS activates, and then Ruin will regress anything you've put into it. I haven't experienced it personally yet, but this just sounds like a lose-lose scenario.

Since both of you mentioned that there is nothing for Killer to do - this is completely intentional. And this is actually BHVR listening. During events where Killers had other objectives, people complained that Killers dont have the time to do those. So now BHVR does not offer different objectives for Killers anymore.

Obviously this makes events more boring for Killers, but in the end, this is what people asked for.

  • Aven_Fallen
    Aven_Fallen Member Posts: 17,973

Would not really count those as secondary objectives. Especially because some things like Anniversary Powers (e.g. the remote Pallet Break) were given for free or at least the Killer did not have to do anything out of their way to get them.

This critique only applies to iterations of the Void from several years past - every other major Event in the game has plenty of things for Killers to do. This past iteration of The Void made it easier than ever for Killers to enter the Void quickly w/ a smaller Void map and get very big rewards that made it worth it (Haunts that Down Survivors)

Every other event has things for Killers to play with that doesn't make them have to go out of their way - Invitations with on-demand abilities, the Party Tricks, Snowskulls that can freeze pallets, Snowmen…

Even past iterations of this VERY event - the Blood Moon - allowed Killers to utilize massive Blood Zones for massive Lunge distances, regardless of whichever team created the Blood Zone they had a new way to engage with the game.

As Killer, this Event doesn't even feel like an Event. It's literally just normal Killer gameplay with extra steps. It's boring and unenticing. The only reason why anyone would be incentivized to play it is for Bloodpoints.

I don't think it's fair to just say "It's boring and it should be boring" because every other Event in the game has proven that they can make fun things for the Killer to do - even if it's meta to not engage with the mechanics at least they have fun things to do. It's as if we said "One-Fifth of the game's players will have absolutely nothing new or of interest to do, the rest of you go have fun tho!"

I think the updates to the mode are very good but i think in regards to the blood pump spawns it could be better.

I'm also finding Hex : Ruin to be quite oppressive to go against, you basically can't do any blood generators in a reasonable amount on your own until it's cleansed.

You also don't get special score events for using perks to damage generators which feels bad and makes me wonder if it's contributing to the event goal?

But overall i am quite happy with the improvement this event has seen

Overall, I think the event is in a much better place now. I like that killers can interact more with the blood generators, especially now that perk synergy has been added. That change makes the mode feel more complete and gives killers more meaningful ways to engage with the event mechanics instead of it feeling one-sided.

My biggest gameplay complaint so far is the interaction between blood generators, Ruin, and Dead Man’s Switch. The way it currently works feels awkward, because the second your blood canister runs out, it immediately seems to trigger Dead Man’s Switch. I did not expect that to be part of the interaction, and it creates a pretty strange combo that feels less intentional and more frustrating.

That said, I think the most important issue that needs attention is the blood pump spawn logic. On maps like Dead Dog Saloon, they can all spawn clustered in one corner of the map, which forces survivors to travel a huge distance just to reach and complete a blood generator. I have also seen the same problem on RPD, where the pumps will all spawn heavily on one side, again creating a lot of unnecessary traversal just to interact with the event objective. That feels like the bigger design problem right now, because it can make the event feel uneven depending on the map and spawn placement. I think the spawn distribution needs to be looked at more closely so the blood pumps are spread out in a way that feels fairer and more practical.

The event offerings are only personal, so most people still bring cakes or BPS to maximize blood points. Why these offerings don't stack after all the feedback last year seems somewhat tone deaf from the dev team. You heard this exact same feedback last year. How difficult could it possibly be to make the offerings stack? Make the offerings apply to everybody in the match and make them stack. Please.

I'm glad that killers have perks that actually affect gens, but the balance tilted way too killer-sided this year. You can bring things like Ruin/Undying/DMS and easily win a match. I haven't played killer in months, and decided to do a few rounds tonight after realizing how miserable solo queue was for the survivor side and didn't lose once (3K+ in 10 matches). It's lazy and boring gameplay, tbh. There needs to be way more thought that goes into perk synergy when designing these special events. It feels like nobody QA'd this, and you're relying on your playerbase to throw themselves at a frustrating wall to give you feedback (hence this entire pinned thread, I guess).

Part of the reason why solo queue feels so frustrating is that the spawn location of blood pumps seems to always be concentrated in one tiny section of the map. I've seen three blood pumps within 10m of one another, while all of the blood gens are spread throughout the map. Whether this is intentional design or an oversight… idk. But given how borked some things have been lately… my guess is it's an oversight.

Please spread out the spawn locations of blood pumps.

The mode feels impossible in a solo queue situation, boring as killer, and challenging in a swf — all three of which I've played today.

For how hyped the team promoted this event, you really, really, really fumbled in my opinion.

some blood pumps are far away from the nearest blood gen, takes me too long to walk to a gen trying not to spill any blood but other than that the event is good.

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. The item has been in a buggy state for quite a while now, as per usual with this game.

I'll say what I was saying last year: The spawn logic for blood pumps is not fit for purpose. So often you will lose games to RNG, as your pumps are simply not close enough to anything to matter.

Add onto that that both sides forget we're supposed to be earning 500% BP bonus instead of trying to 4k5/4e 0 hooks and the event is kind of falling apart at the seams.

  • vol4r
    vol4r Member Posts: 1,020

I don't enjoy BP gains really.

    1. Offerings are not stackable, which makes them useless again - every event we have its better to use bloody party streamers and I believe it's bad thing
    2. Event BP category is very hard to fill up. Even on killers. With the event offering I am not able to max out the BP, even with 12 hooks and a lot of container kicking/hitting survivior with the fuel containter

I love that everyone gets some of BP for completing the generators. Can we increase it tho?

@Balrog - Is it possible for the team to increase BP gains for the event category in this iteration of the event?
Or would it be possible only for next year event?

I also love balancing changes of the event - it's amazing that killer powers and perks work with the event generators.

ruin never regresses blocked generators . If that is actually happening then it is 100% a bug . In fact gen block and ruin have negative synergy.

Correct nothing can effect blocked gens and they also does not regress while they are blocked either. That is one reason why Trail of Torment also now turns off when the gen its on gets blocked by the entity.

GAS PUMP SPAWNS. I saw the developer response stating something along lines of it being hard for them to spawn in specific areas. That being said, I think you guys need to pay close attention to HOW they are spawning and feeding killers very fast matches. I can see the need to put a couple blood gens close together in a match where survivors might be favored to lose that round. but every single match I've had gas pumps spawning right next to each other, I've been screenshotting it. even on big 2v8 sized maps like Yamaoka. both pumps spawned within 5 feet of each other, NEXT to a 3 gen. are you serious?

Im down to run across map, but now im losing most of my fuel? or im walking and wasting time. Ok, ill run fixated to walk faster, unfortunately hasn't helped enough. add Henry to this match and we're absolutely cooked.

Just a info: There are no 2vs8 sized maps. Theyre all 1vs4 sized.

Its interesting to read the claims of the tunneling when I played 20 matches in the event queue and got like one hard tunneler and maybe one or two tactical ones. Its one reason why I take these kind of claims of tunneling numbers as pinch of salt as they don't fit the experience I have been seeing. Also just to point out how in the world he manages to be the first to get chased in those seven games to be the one getting tunneled that is statically very unlikely if he is not intentionally trying to avoid the killer.

  • Emeal
    Emeal Member Posts: 6,856

Don't worry, I don't need to take your claim with a pinch of salt as I'm well aware how strategies, playstyles etc can change up the MMR chain. I have no need to doubt you when you say 1/20 games contain a tunneler/ camper, its entirely possible.

I also have had games for a long while without any tunnelers. But not last night, they all came out of the woodworks.
It got so bad the MMR system started giving us Killers who had extremely low play time in comparison to me.

I've really enjoyed playing the event so far. All I really have to suggest are balance changes.

    • The blood drop mechanic from the 2024 Blood Moon should be brought back to give Killers options.
      • The main issue with the mechanic is solved now that scratch mark colors are customizable.
    • The penalty for running with the jerry can should be doubled to make it a real choice.
    • The penalty for leaving a jerry can on the ground should be halved to incentivize collaboration.
      • I had a survivor fill cans for me in some of my games and I thought it was really cute to have that.
    • Killers that hit survivors with jerry cans should cause the jerry can to be dropped.
    • The Bloodshot Eye should add a singular Blood Pump to the map per use. 4 pumps are just not enough!
    • The Bloodshot Eye should not be set at 100%. It is locked to the event. A minimum should be 125%.

The servers keep crashing/disconnecting me during the event leading to large disconnection penalties. Please find a way to fix the servers or alternatively don't give players penalties. if they disconnect through no fault of their own. I would love to play more DBD, but I'm currently sitting on a 6 hour penalty due to being disconnected from the server every second game.

Being Penalized without doing anything wrong is infuriating, especially during a bloodpoint boost period. Please find a solution for this as it makes me (and probably several other players) consider quitting the game altogether.

I totally agree. This is the first time I am skipping an event because the player behavior is terrible. Killers are going out their way to slug and it isn’t fair.

this has been happening in all events lately too. I think the devs should put the anti tunneling and anti slug systems for events only. This will stop the killers that just want to make everyone miserable playing it. I don’t mind getting killed just work for it. Every killer in history had to work for their kills a game shouldn’t be any different.

Not only would it stop the players that just want to ruin it it would also allow for broader feedback of these to systems of they actually work as intended, instead of listening to a select few.

I really think it’s sever depending. Not every area tunnels and it is a massive complaint on other forums as well and some other groups. I have not been able to complete anything as at line 5 or 4 gens we are out of the game.

Suggestion for Future Blood and moon events:

    1. Create new maps for this event ONLY. Or recreate maps with more blood, and bloodmoon in the sky etc. I feel like this event really miss this!
    2. More cosmetics for killers and survivors, we cannot do only a few characters each year. All Original characters should get full cosmetics. Not just 1 piece, like a weapon or just a shirt. These needs a full outfit.
    3. Killers to interact more with Blood, getting rewarded more for injuring survivors. Bloodhound as basekit. I want more blood and more interactions with the killers this event. Survivors do have more fun with interacting.

I noticed that Trap power killers, they cannot trap the bloodpumps. (I was really disappointed as the Trapper)

The bloodpumps needs to be seperated much better in the future. As a killer, I do not want to get the temptation to camp the bloodpumps.

Suggestion for future Blood and moon event:

    1. If a bloodpump is low on blood. An injured survivor could fuel the bloodpump faster. But ends up inflicted with Mangled for 60s or something.
    2. Killers who can see blood better or needs blood for their power. Like Oni,dredge to get more boosted while consuming blood in these events.

Please upgrade the visibility of the blood pumps, sometimes are really hard to see xD

And btw, why the offering only works with the event category BP ?

I really enjoyed the new Blood Moon event in Dead by Daylight — it’s a fresh and interesting twist on the usual gameplay with the blood‑powered generators. However, I’ve noticed a consistent issue with the spawn points for the fuel tanks. In many matches, multiple tanks spawn very close to each other, often clustered on the same side of the map (as shown in the attached screenshot, where three tanks spawned right next to one another). This makes collecting blood unnecessarily difficult and unbalanced. I hope the team can adjust the spawn mechanics for future events to ensure a more even distribution. Overall, great concept — just needs a bit of fine‑tuning!

Hi! I almost have the full blood moon outfit for Vittorio Toscano..I only missed the head last time due to being busy with work.. and I only want to buy the headpiece, but in store it gives me the price of the whole outfit even if I have the pants and shirt already??? Do I really need to buy the whole outfit again??? ://

What's there to say? It's another event that babies Killer and is only remotely possible with a premade.

  • MarbleThrone

You're probably checking the event collection store tab. Skip that, go to the store normally, select Vittorio and filter on Head pieces. That should give you the individual price for that part. Since it's not a linked set, you should be able to buy it seperately.

There so much negative feedback regarding the event offering your team has been getting since the event started but that just goes ignored. Today's update proves that to me at least. I don't know why any feedback given regarding anything bloodpoint related purposely goes ignored

Beyond the issues with BHVR as a whole, I do not trust the devs, so when a game ends and I have no category points for completing 2 blood gens. Because the devs, dont program properly, case in point, the home tab on their main page is broken. Constant lack of efford.
