Restrict post-match chat for anonymous players

I believe players using anonymous mode should not have access to post-match chat. In practice, many people use this feature to hide their identity and make offensive comments without consequences. The number of cases is so high that, if we were to report them all, we’d spend more time doing that than actually playing.

Restricting or removing post-match chat for anonymous accounts would help reduce this behavior and make the environment healthier for everyone.

I would have to agree. Anon mode in my opinion is unhealthy for the game. It should only be for streamers.

There isn't. Before anon mode, people were plenty of toxic in the end game chat anyways. People just need to report players being toxic in end game chat and move on with their life.

I mean, it doesn't do anything though. Most are savvy enough to get their message across with enough plausible deniability or obfuscation that they can't really be banned for it.

Reporting for things said in end game chat is more likely to do something than reporting for anything else since BHVR does get the chat log with the report without needing to submit a support ticket. It's better than nothing, because there's no point in talking back to those being toxic as you'll only feed it.

Honestly I'd rather just have an option to perma hide it, even when I try to joke with a killer (there was a sound bug I thought was hillarious when being mori'd the game sounded like it was crashing) the killer thought I was coming after them for using a stealth build.

I just think people are used to interactions on this game being negative, so save myself the hassle and gimme the option to perma hide it in settings.

disagree, I wanna use annon so people don't dodge the lobby based on hours.

Thing they need to do tho is make is so that if you DC you cant chat in end game because currently someone can dc and rage spam in end game chat. They had forethought to remove spectating if you dc but not chatting.

Those people will dodge for any reason even anon mode will not stop them.

Yeah they should remove the ability to chat from people who DC.

I think there a people who definitely look at hours and will dodge when they see it. some of the lobbies where I wait the longest is where multiple people have + 2000 hours in lobby visible on profile. I switched to annon few years back because basically all my pre game lobbies would take towards 10 min mark on average because of the killer leaving.

I have over 6000 hours currently and I think if I made that visible I would have significantly more pre game lobby dodging then I currently do. But I do agree with you that people will use any excuse to dodge a lobby ( eg 4 aces, pc lobby, toolbox lobby, cosmetics)

I'm of opinion if people want anon mode to not be in the game or to be restricted, what the killer sees in the pre game need to be the same as what the survivors see on the killer. Because I would not use anon mode if my profile was not shown in pre game lobby, idm if its shown in end game lobby.

Yeah I am not saying there is not people who do that for hours but have to admit when some people start to do it for those they start doing it for all other idiotic reasons some point.

I think the only time I ever dodged was when cheater revealed them in the lobby. I don't dodge but still you get those odd lobies where all people leave except you and another random several times. It just feels so random.

i like the idea. i like anom mode but for people who arent on steam and thus, dont have access to it, like streamers, it can be annoying when you want to play and not be targeted, which is why it was made. i know there are toxic streamers that do this as in the end i found out the player i was playing against with who was a streamer. it would be good to only give anom mode to thouse in the creator program as they are trusted, then again if thats the case you would know its a big streamer. im not sure anymore but what i do know is this suggestion is a good one at that.

What consequences does a anon player not have to face tho?

You can still report them. The only thing you can't do is visit their steam profile

Why? If they say something reportable, report them and it's just like reporting anyone else. If not, it also makes zero difference if they're anon or not. At least on Steam if someone wants to not be remembered they can change their name and entire profile up whenever they want.

No - I started using anon mode because people were needlessly toxic. I don't use it to be toxic, so why should i be locked out of potentially positive interactions?

Just report toxic chats and move on with your life.

I would agree if console had a chat option. DBD choosing favorites as always
