There was a full engine update which always requires things to be downloaded again, making it a much bigger update than normal.

apparently they had an engine update in the background.
But yeah I agree it’s silly the update is so big when very little of substance was actually added.

Ah, the only thing I saw that was added aside from 2v8 was the little arrows on the gen progress bar, find it hard to believe that was 47 gigs lol

It was an update 47gb full of bugs for everyone to discover and enjoy.
Jokes aside, my Steam Deck now sounds like a jet engine running this game after the engine update so that's neat0 -
Thats actually WHY it was 47gigs. Jet engines are big.

It most likely just means they are now using the most up to date version of Unreal Engine 5 so they updated to 5.7
