If this game isn't competitive
Then why is it when a exploit is discovered, the survivor or killer immediately uses it at full force? Also tell me if it isn't competitive, why are there so many cheaters?
I'd love to hear your counter-arguments. I'm expecting no answers.

it is a competitive game it's just balanced so heavily in favor of survivors it's like a party game

Damn right. This game is slowly dying thanks to the increase of survivor entitlement. Sad but it is what it is.

I don’t really think there’s any connection between a game being competitive or casual and people using exploits or having cheaters.
Are you saying if a game is casual, people just wouldn’t take advantage of something if it’s there? Because If there’s an easier way to do something, a lot of people are going to take advantage . That’s just player behavior, nothing to do with the type of game.
You see this everywhere, people use exploits all the time. Games like StardewValley, Pokémon, The Sims, even something like Animal Crossing has exploits.
And cheating is the same way. People cheat in all kinds of games, even ones that are meant to be chill or for kids. It’s not about the game being competitive, it’s just that some players will always look for shortcuts or ways to get an edge. Exploits or cheaters doesn’t automatically mean a game is competitive, it just means that humans are playing the game. Monopoly, Uno, Candyland, not even children board games are immune from people who try to cheat.

You can write a whole essay when I only have to write to you this game has MMR and everything you just wrote is meaningless.

…you asked for counter arguments and I provided some? If you aren’t looking for that and just wanted to rant about how you personally feel, that’s fine too. But I tried to give you what you specifically asked for.

"if a game isn't competitive, then why so many cheaters/hackers" is kind of a weak argument.
There's probably people out there who cheat at Tic-Tac-Toe. Doesn't make it a serious competitive game by default.

It's only competitive when it comes to nerfing survivors.
2 -
Because people like to abuse things here in the fog. Because dbd tends to attract the types that like to make others angry.
And trying to use mmr as an excuse for it being competitive is faulty. It's to try to have somewhat fair matches so newbies aren't consistently getting gutted by veterans.

people cheat in all games, competitive/casual, real/virtual
People cheated in f-ing Friday the 13th. And the exploits…. By god the exploits. Roof exploits, invincibility exploits, healing cancels, out of bounds exploits, god spots. Etc etc.

Hate to break it to you, most if not all multiplayer games use some form mmr/hmmr to try and get ‘fair matches’.
Even back in the old days, we didn’t haven’t mmr but there was level based matches and rank based matching.
Having matchmaking doesn’t make a game competitive by default

It's simple. Competitive game or not, individual people want to win, all the time. People will use every advantage they can get, legitimate or not.

so according to you a game is competitive when the following conditions are met:
- there is cheaters
- Players abuse/exploit broken features
- The game features a hidden matchmaking rating that the game isnt actively trying to push to the Players
so…
Which online Multiplayer game do you consider not competitive?
Do all these criteria have to apply or would one or two suffice?

Is Mario Kart competitive? 🤔
Ah wait, it doesn't hide its MMR.
3 -
hm. Actually it wasnt Said that the MMR has to be hidden, just exist. So. Yeah. Mario Kart is competitive confirmed

dbd is pvp, naturally going to be competitive overtime, problem is that the more competitive a game become the more people will cheat, and more cheaters will inflate the game. look at csgo for example, nearly every lobby have cheaters, dbd will be the same eventually.

The mario cart competitive scene would like to have a word with you.
And Mario cart is competitive is the same way any time you’re playing against another human it’s competitive, some of my most fond memories where sweating it out on the couch at parties for bragging rights.
The only truly ‘casual’ games are pve/team versus environment games. Yes some of them can be competitive, but more often than not there’s just less tension on the line because you aren’t playing against another human who also has the intention of winning.

Didn't the creators of this game said this game is casual?
0 -
Because people are competitive. End of discussion.

What does exploiting has to do with competiveness? Right, nothing.

A hidden MMR system is worthless to talk about. Convince me that the matchmaking in this game is anything but speed-based.

A system that is hidden, barely functions, and was initially heavily disliked by the community doesn't say much, tbh.

Pretext: I actually dont want anything more to do with the forum where i do can be banned for my opinon. This will be the first and last time. Im only doing this bc the "arguments" people come up with here are simply ridiculous. xD
Lets analyist it: what are the differences between a casual game and a competitive game?
- competitive gaming: focuses on the main objective (winning, trying to outdo the opponent), there are in game balancing (something shouldnt be too strong or weak), penalties for leaving the game too early, matchmaking for fair conditions, etc...
- Casual gaming: no Matchmaking, no penalties, no balancing (most of the time) just have fun is the main focus
Looking at casual games, you can see that DBD used to be more casual. There was no disconnect penalty, perks and add-ons were broken, items, Mori was for death on hook, Nurse 5 blinks, etc. All of this is and will remain as it is because DBD is a casual game for having fun. But no, if it stays that way, those who shout "Casual Party Game" are the first to cry and want it nerfed-balanced, which is actually a competent mindset. I have never seen anyone in Mario Kart whine, "Devs please nerf the blue shell, its so unfair!" Nobody does it because it's a true casual game. You can leave the game without a penalty. Look, even in CS2 there's Competitive, Premier, and Casual modes. Premier is like Competitive, but like a tournament. If you leave either of them, you get a penalty. What about Casual mode? Nope, nothing. You can join and leave as you please, no penalty, because its for chilling, testing.
i do have a competetive minset, but that is irrelevant. If DBD is truly a Casual-party game, then please stop trying to competently balance the game while simultaneously calling it a party game. That is hypocrisy at the best…

yep it’s so survivor sided that killers win most of their games….
-2 -
Where are you getting this from? The average kill rate is 60%, which is 2.4 kills per game. 2.4 is closer to 2 (a draw) than 3 (a win).
