When survivors actually play the game....
Almost impossible with the second chance nonsense and handholding. Just played 2 games and both times with the killer meta btw, the gens flew by while I get 2 hooks and only chance of winning was to tunnel someone out. But wait DS. Then free endurance out the gate lol. This game is a joke as killer now. Why are you balancing the game for the worst players in the game instead of the actual knowledgeable players who dont give up the second something doesnt go their way. Thats who youre balancing the game around.

So…you're complaining about the worst Survivors in the game who give up while admitting that you can't handle going against the knowledgeable ones who don't give up. This may not be the game for you in that case…

Yes because the knowledgeable ones are the ones benefitting the most from the majority of this games survivor base being trash. All survivors get the same handholding, knowledgeable or not.

Holy crap, OP. You made me agree with Cryptic. I never agree with Cryptic. I mean, gold star, I guess? Achievement unlocked.
Look my man, I'm a killer main as well, and I too feel the game is a bit swindling of non S-tier killers right now. That being said, this may not be the best way to present your argument. You posted what is effectively an accusation followed by what is effectively an ultimatum in a dress.
May I suggest that in the future you consider taking some time to formulate your post into a coherent argument that others can engage with? What you've presented is just kind of a baleful tangle of upsetti spaghetti.4 -
Prove my argument wrong then. Good survivors benefit because of the loud majority of bad survivors in dead by daylight. They benefit because of handholding mechanics implemented based on a survivor created rule book. Is that clear and coherent enough for you?
-2 -
So they were playing meta, and you were playing meta, and you lost? Kinda telling on yourself but ok.

Please define 'handholding mechanics' and explain how their absence would be fair to the other side. (Bonus points if you can somehow twist the language to somehow exclude the numerous killer benefiting mechanics in the game)
Since I imagine you're referring to things like anti-face camp and unhook haste and endurance then let's pretend they don't exist. Please explain to the class how being able to face plant on a hook and then one shot the person just unhooked (if they ever actually are unhooked) is in anyway healthy for the game. Are you capable of understanding why that's a miserable and unfair experience on the receiving end of that or do you just not care?

Basekit BT that has been weaponized at this point, dead hard, DS, pallet density, nerfing of killers based on low ranks giving up at the slightest inconvenience or perceived "tunnel"/"camp". Anti camp mechanics. I can keep going
-3 -
So majority are bad, and you want the devs to make it easier for you to compete with the minority that are good? Maybe just get better because you sound entitled as heck
6 -
I guess everyone's a survivor main on here lol. Dude what im saying is theyre balancing the game around babies who dont know how to play the game, meanwhile the experienced players who actually know how to play the game abuse every single advantage given to them while no killer can keep up consistently.
-4 -
'Why balance for the worst players, instead of me, the highly competent, unflappable king of DBD who struggles to get two hooks?'
6 -
I'm bored so Ok~
So first that basekit BT. If it wasn't there what stops the killer from immediately downing the unhooked survivor? You probably say the survivors should have saved better, but then if the killer camps the hook…what then? Then theres more "handholding" in the anti-face camp which allows the survivors a chance to get a clean save. These "handholding" things allow the survivor player a chance to, you know, play the game since preeeeeviously the killer could deny someone actually playing the game. Didn't matter if they're good or not. This caused ALL survivors, good or bad, to be loud (with a pretty good reason too) and both benefit in being able to actually play. Unless your new you as a killer should know basekit BT is a thing and can either go for someone else, eat through it, or count to 15 or 30 depending on how sure you want to be. If you hook at a powered/open gate then thats on you.Second, you explicitly admitted to tunneling. DS does exactly 1 thing, which is prevent tunneling before the end game. It has many deactivate conditions and any killer can avoid it by simply not picking them up. Someone brought a perk (aka 1/4th their build) to protect themselves in case tunneling happened to them. Other "second chance" perks (aka parts of build) are also really only useful for specific circumstances (Unbreakable for example only really helps against slugging).
Third, you brought full "meta"…so what? Most the "meta" (unless theres a new "meta" i missed) works only if you actually catch people. Now, we all don't know exactly what happened in your matches, but your saying you got 2 hooks before you decided to try and tunnel and im inferring they got out soon after that decision you made. This tells me personally that you weren't doing well. If the survivors were bad how exactly did they get to that end point? Spoilers, they were good enough against you to reach it wern't they?
Now fourth, between all that, it sounds like you wish to be able to do as you please without consequence. You wanna be able to tunnel when you wan't without the survivors being able to a dang thing. Perks can't save them, base kits neither despite both being able to be worked around. Sounds to me you want your hand held~

Here we go with the gaslighting from the survivor community once again. Nah man thats survivors. The only role who can consistently mess around, not do the objective and still win is the survivor role. Thats why they nerfed mangled into the ground. Why should survivors have to worry about their macro play, goof off and not heal, do a whole gen and then get to heal for free after only 70 seconds? Lol survivors heal meta is insane right now because of resurgence but they nerf sloppy into the ground.

Who said Rulebreaker is a survivor main?
His breakdown of your argument was great and detailed, and showcased how the different mechanics prevents one side from completely denying the other one to even play the game.
And it's not like the survivor side doesn't have limitations as well. Like if someone decides to hard-tunnel you or a teammate, proxy camp the basement, or 4-man slug happening, then the survivor team is (pardon my language) shite out of luck, unless the other 3 survivors are glued to generators without managing to 3-gen themselves.I have during my well over 2000 hours in the game seen both the best and the worst of this community, and trust me, the killer can also mess around.
But it seems to me that you'd rather stick to a stale meta (that the other side knows how to play around), instead of innovating and trying new builds that might work better for your choice of killer.5 -
The second I see the word "handholding" in a post I instantly switch off.
Just another tribal kneejerk complaint post from a throwaway account by someone who lost a couple of games and can't cope with being outplayed.
You can't win get 4ks every game.

Sloppy will ALMOST always deny resurgence.
Especially if you hang around at the hook. That's one thing you can do if resurgence bothers you. This doesn't happen only if surviviors unhook each other last second and if they do you should be there so secure the trade.

So I got a question that I really need a answer to. How do survivors get out of the gate without doing gens?... Cause I really don't think survivors can win without doing the objective.
Sloppy Butcher provides 90 seconds of mangled and hemorage. That's a gens worth of time. Idk off hand what gift of pain (or whatever name) gives but it gives mangled off hook, which is arguably one of the most important and/or popular times to heal no? It even helps against resurgence. Mangled isn't nerfed to the ground. Btw weren't you complaining about second chances earlier? How exactly is resurgence a second chance? How exactly did this go from "hand holding" things to healing?

As I said, I'm a killer main. I play 90/10 Killer/Surv, to be generous.
I get that the balancing is borked but you're looking for structural competitive level balancing in a game that the dev's have openly professed they do not intend to develop in a competitive direction. Yes, it is a competitive game by definition but their direction for balance does not, and will not reflect that. It's not their priority.
But since you asked:
Good survivors do benefit because the bulk of the playerbase is, unsurprisingly by metric, lower skillset survivor players. Thus yes, when the bulk get a benefit from a change those few good ones get more benefit from it than the lower end. Hand-holding included. I don't even disagree with you: I do feel there has been far, far too much handholding. BT base, anti-camp, etc etc, sure. I'll take the downvotes on that.
However, you aren't presenting an actual argument here my man. "The few high skill ceiling players benefit more from patches directed to benefit the lower skillset players" is not an argument, it's a standard result from almost any game development cycle. It's been true in League of Legends, it's been true in DoTA. It's been true in CSGO, it's been true in every PVP oriented game, and some PVE games. That's not an argument it's an observation of what is effectively an industry law.
To be clear the reason I say you aren't presenting an argument is because you aren't presenting a valid alternative path. "Get Rid of basekit BT" would result in the bulk of survivor players having a patently more miserable experience. I HATE bodyblocking and basekit BT abuse to take hits and think it's frankly rancid and exploitive, by example. But the alternative by default, in absence of another presented, is removing it and punishing the bulk for the benefit of keeping the high skillsets in check.
Also: complaining about meta while playing meta is, in itself, kind of confusing as an opener.0
