PSA For Solo Queue Teammates and Survivors
Please stop healing under hook unless you have resurgence or we’ll make it, you’re just asking to get caught healing and either give the killer a bunch of pressure or the easiest tunnel of his life.
Run away from the hook and then heal please 🙏

but I declared a time out!

In my experience, it has to be a case by case basis. Often times you're spending more time running away and leaving a trail for the Killer to follow and getting no additional healing out of the way.

I understand the frustration bc i have players, who want to be healed, even with an approaching terror radius. But it really depends and you need to read the situation. Wasting time running away can also give the killer time to go back.

Screaming into the void with this one lol. The player base at large has zero common sense - the amount of times I've wanted to ignore healing for Resilience or any other perk benefit from injured state only for another soloqer to tail me and almost beg to heal whilst ignoring any other task is insane. You can see it now on 2v8: most surv games I have are sh*tshows because everyone is too busy running around trying to get heals in rather than grouping on gens.

I think it really depends. It saves more time to heal under hook and many of the more chill Killers don't bother returning to hook anyway (I know I don't unless I'm lead to it by another Survivor or I just happen to be in the area on gen patrol).
But if you do heal under hook and the Killer's play style is to tunnel, then yeah you've probably just gifted them an easy hook. I don't play much Survivor any more but if I did, I kinda think I should be dying to hardcore tunnelling Killers, anyway. In theory that should mean I will get less tunnellers in future because it tends to be something only the "better", more competitive Killers do.
In any case, I think it can be a bit of a gamble to heal under hook but sometimes it's worth risking just to save time. Because sometimes a Killer will return and find you both healing up anyway, so now you've wasted even more time finding somewhere "safe" and a Survivor is back on the hook again regardless. There are also times when you'll run to safety to heal but your rescuer won't bother following you. So it can be better to get the heal right there and then at the hook if it's on offer.

This really depends. If you know the killer is fully engaged far away, you can often go for the time-efficient under-hook heal. If the chase they were in suddenly ends, that's a red flag.
I'm currently running Lucky Break and if I don't get healed fast, my perk drains away. I also sometimes try to leave to heal and the person who unhooked me runs off thinking I don't want to heal, or doesn't want to waste time and follow me, and now I'm just injured. Everything is circumstantial.

slightly off topic but, I’ve long argued that the problem with “common sense” in dbd is that it isn’t, actually all that “common” for a lot of players. Does that speak to their actual lack of common sense? A lack of understanding and education (of the game, i.e. tutorial on some of the more macro elements) or does it speak to some or many just not caring and making a calculated decision (albeit a wrong one in some cases) based on the opportunity cost?

I've been running well make it just to make healing at hook more viable. I do think soloq survivors need to get better at just walking away from the hook a short distance then taking the heal.
In my experience if the killer is not right near the hook but is clearly a killer who enjoys going back to hook, walking away and keeping out of LOS is best. I've saved tunnel outs/ avoided being tunneled out just by walking away from the hook with unhooker and getting healed because killer has to guess where you guys what direction yous went.0 -
I think it speaks the most to how luck based and random the entire experience is.

It depends, really. Sometimes it is better to go for an immediate heal under the hook instead of taking the time to go somewhere else.

Highly dependant on the situation.
If the killer is far away, and preferably in a chase with someone else, then yes, heal under hook.
If the killer is closer (first layer of TR), then moving away from the hook is the better idea.
If the killer is very close (less than 16 meters) you need to ask yourself, why did I do this?Perks also play into this a lot.
If the unhooked has Resurgence, and you yourself has We'll Make it or Botany, or if a CoH is set up nearby, then sure, heal right away.
If you run We'll Make it or Botany, you can also debate if healing under hook is the right play, especially if the killer is far away, and doesn't possess a high-mobility power, like Kaneki or Billy.2 -
If the killer comes to hook and did it multiple times per match or is near and has no chase or has great mobility and can be there in few seconds because he has no one in chase and under preasure then its better to go few meters away unless you have perks that make you heal in few seconds.
Mayn people stay always under the hook and then have pikachu face wehn killer comes back but its not so hard to guess it when he will most likely come back. Like agains knight dont stay under hook because if he is close he will send assasin there and you arent moving so chances he will heit you pr second survivor are high.

It's situational. You need good game sense. If the killer is on the other side of the map chasing someone, I am healing under the hook.
But I get your frustration. Blame matchmaking. You are more seasoned than the teammates the game gives you, just so it can fill up some slots quickly. Today's players have no patience to wait for quality matches, and that sucks.

Knight is a special case. He usually summons a guard and comes back to hook, so you're kinda screwed no matter what. Sometimes you might as well take a chance.

If its assasin you are in trouble, but if its another guard you ahve plenty of time to get away even when you werent moving becuase of healing. Knights power is to harass two people at once so when people tend to heal under hook in this meta due to healing perks being best with unhooking its kinda predictiable from knight to do it.
Looping guard is in majority of cases joke theres so many things that can make him loose you, hardest is jeilor and knight trying to pincer survivor but that can be outplayed aswell because of guards dissapearing 3x faster when knight is in their range its 12 meters I think.

On the opposite end, don't run to the farthest corner expecting the rescurer to follow.
