I really enjoy this feature but not because of the time saving feature, but in my matches its been feeling more of a mix in the community, rather then Killer v Survivors. on top of it feeling much more streamlined then having to change lobbies after every match.

I've had multiple matches where our opponent was on the other side the next match, leading to wholesome interactions.

some examples I've had of wholesome interactions due to play as you wait feature

Sprit
solo q match against a spirt, we 4 man out but then the next match me and random get put in same lobby as them and make sure they escaped in our survivor match.

Billy (me)
Had match where there was one survivor that was really good in chase, then next match got them in survivor lobby and was like "ayo I was just your killer" and did really well that match.

Krause
I was not part of match but 2 other soloq survivors where mega excited in lobby chat that they just versed other person when they where Krause. A wholesome interaction.

I've seen globes who I've versed pervious game but sadly they cant chat, but I just think a feature like this does no harm but promotes playing both sides and has been leading to wholesome interactions which I love to see in the game.

I have played killer way more then I would have if this feature was not added, even if que times where lower.

EDIT: Yay Its still in the game after 2v8 Thank yoou <3

How exactly does Play As You Wait work? They say it holds your place in the queue, but what if a trial takes longer to complete than it does to match? I'm curious because on one hand, keeping it a permanent fixture could help the issue of Survivor being harder to fill, but if it pauses the queue then it might have the opposite effect of creating dead lobbies that players evade.

When you que as killer you can switch to survivor que, ready up and play a match

When you finish survivor match you will be put into killer que again with a "priority que" tag, from there you can choice to play another survivor match or play your killer match, even if the time in que says 0 seconds you can switch to survivor if you wanted.

From my experience it still takes a 30 seconds to min to find lobby when it says 0 seconds so I assume it just puts you at top of que, not saving a lobby for you and making survivors wait. If you dodge a lobby you loose your priority matchmaking currently (game warns you if you go to leave killer lobby)

Thank you. I wonder if that would clog the system still. 🤔 Either way, it's worth testing out more.

I don't think it would risk clogging system as SWF still have to go directly to survivor lobby and cant play as you wait so it would only be solo players switching more often and only if they want to.

The only thing I think it risks is making people who play only killer have slightly longer que times (like maybe by a min) but I think that risk outweighs what play as you wait brings to the game.

    I agree.

    It is a good feature.

Coming back to this post with 2v8 ending soon.

I again ask that we make this a permeant feature !

    Why is it good?
    - Promotes switching roles rather then consistently playing one role

    - Encourages players who may not of played the other role or have "Killer Anixey" play surviour matches until they feel up to playing a Killer matcher rather then having to commit to the killer que.

    - Brings in more of a sense of community (Teaming up with someone you may of just had as your opponent)

    - Is more streamlined then having to change ques when you want to change roles. its less commitment

    I'm not a fan. For 2 reasons.

    1. People can play for revenge whether it be an ex killer is on the team and the team decide to not help them because they killed them all in the previous match or could be killers target someone that didn't save them in a previous match.
    2. It has lead to an increase in people giving up and going next because killers play survivor to waste time playing a role the don't want to play while waiting in the q. First chance they get they are out of the match to play the role they actually want to play while leaving survivors deal with a 3 v 1 match.

both of which I have seen happen

I have not see this happen at all personally. I've seen nothing but wholesome interaction.

But I think people who are playing like this are going to play regardless of if this feature is a thing and these sound like More so killer mains who are only using the feature because of que times, not because they enjoy switching roles.

When 2v8 leaves que times will not be as long so killers who are queing as survivor just to throw while waiting for killer match wont have any reason to do that as they are going to potentially spend longer then just waiting in que.

If q times are short then it might be ok but at the moment it is a case of killer mains pushed into a playing a role they don't want to play. But why not just swap to survivor if people want to play survivor like they do usually. Play killer match then swap to survivor, no need for play while you wait.

play as you wait is better as ive listed before and nobody is forcing them to play survivor, they are choocing to play then deciding to grief.

I personally will play signifyingly less killer if this feature goes away, but I see no reason to add it to the game. if people are abusing it punish them rather then taking away the feature.

once 2v8 leaves if people are still abusing it (i haven't personally seen) they need penalties as they can just wait rather the clicking the button.

I didn't say people are forced they are pushed... encouraged, being between a rock and a hard place. Opting to play a role they don't want to play might be better than sitting in a long q but it has consequences on the people that do want to play survivor as a side effect.

Personally if I want to play killer I will q for killer, if I want to play survivor I will back out of the killer q and join survivor q which does not require a play while you wait feature. The only real benefit is for when q times are long so it reserves your q space but then we are back to the choice of wait it out in a lobby doing nothing or join survivor to goof about for a while to pass the time.

You can goof around in the survivor match but in your original comment you where saying people are giving up and going next using play as you wait.

which they should not be clicking play as you wait to do. no matter how frustrated they are with wait times also if they are going next and get penalty by chance they are going to loose there spot in que and have to wait even longer to play the role they want.

This feature would be a boon for getting people to switch between roles more, I just don't think we should not add it because some killers are ruining the feature because they are upset with ques.

That's what I mean, goof around to waste the time then after a few min go next to play killer. As always with this game, people that abuse things prevent things from being added. I wish I could say bhvr would punish the people abusing these things but the fact comes down to you can't enforce what you can't prove. You can't prove if someone has gone next due to wanting to play killer or if they just performed poorly which is why the go next system is highly flawed and easy to work around. DCing is easy to prove and people do get punished for it but going next is way too easy to manipulate and it can't be stricter because then it leads to punishing people that have just died fast due to tunneling.

I think we should be working on dealing with current issues in the game and current pain points before we go giving people yet another way to abuse things and make the game worse for others. Switching from killer to survivor is not an issue, if it's not broken don't fix it

I think this game adding features is sorely lacking and every time they try to fix a pain point they fumble so I would at least enjoy new features in the game that benefit players and the community.

Nothing would be added to the game if we where scared of people abusing it and this feature does good and its already a feature so they aint diverting resources away from things because its already made. so we will have to agree to disagree :)
