It’s awesome to finally have Jason coming to the game but it’s a shame there’s no survivor and presumably no new map? I know it’s due to licensing, but still.

I am now more interested how far off the source material they go to make him interesting. Because if we go strictly after the movies, Jason is just a man with a machete with inhuman strength and unstoppable. Which is basically Trapper.

I guess that means no Tommy Jarvis or FF13 related skins, either.
I hope we at least get a nice legally distinct lake side camp site map. They could call it Camp Sapphire Lagoon or something… The MacMillan Estate is already looking a bit crowded being home to Trapper and Skull Merchant already.

I get that it’s the anniversary, go big or go home, but I’m not personally excited. I’m happy for the people who wanted this, but I don’t have any connection to the films.
I hope we get some surprise licenses that we don’t expect this year, something that shocks us like Tokyo Ghoul.-8 -
The only things I can currently think of that would make sense for him as a character from what we’ve seen in the movies / FT13 game would be teleportation, a harpoon / speer gun and some form of traps. I’m not sure how the traps could be done in a way that made them feel unique and not simply a copy and paste of Trapper. A bear trap is shown in the teaser for Jason though, so I’m pretty sure they will be a thing.
I’m looking forward to watching gameplay from the PTB on Tuesday.

Very cool! Jason is the best fit for 10 years of DbD, he has been a long time coming.
My excitement is a bit tempered by the fact the F13 license is still shorn in half, Myers left before Jason got here, it is seemingly a Paragraph chapter so unless it tries to combo in some major balancing changes (please don't) it will probably feel like an underwhelming patch, they weren't able to actually line up Jason with a Friday the 13th date… but still, BHVR have completed their collection of classic slashers with only a few asterisks.
Pretty soon, we'll have Michael Myers, Leatherface, Chucky, Jason, and two guys you can pretend are from Wes Craven movies in the same game, that's pretty incredible.

Honestly a let down for anniversary chapter. Man with knife isnt exactly exciting. I get that the hype because omg horror character but he is just man with knife and honestly thats just boring IMO

Just change around a word or two and we have pretty much any slasher killer and a good Part of the current killer roster covered.
Michael Myers is just a man with a big knife with inhuman strength and unstoppable.
Ghostface, legion is just a man with a knife with human strength and stoppable
Bubba, Hillbilly is just a man with a chainsaw with inhuman strength and pretty much unstoppable.
And so on
Others fit as well but have gotten some power gifted by the Entity? Like Wraith was just a man but pretty sure the invisibility came after entering the fog.
There is differences between Trapper and Jason, even when Trapper is undeniably designed after Jason.2 -
You just focus on some part of my post, but not on the most important part. The most important part is that the source material does not really provide that much when it comes to abilities for Jason. So they will need to deviate from that and this might not only be positive (see Myers).
If we just look at how complex modern Killers are in DBD; Jason does not really fit into that. At least if we go strictly after the movie version.

Well they can use most of the Friday the 13th things but they can't use the name "Friday the 13th" as that trademark is owned by New Line Cinema so even the Jason rights owners can't use that.

thats my point. This isnt an Argument for or against Jason or proof that the power is definitley a direct copy
that part is completely off for interpretation anyways. And partly covered by me because i did mention the Entity can give New Powers just like for Wraith. There is also enough licensed Killers going far off the source already, notably Pyramid Head.

True, but in the end it boils down of how much people enjoy it. I personally dont care if Jason is close to the source material or not, I am not the biggest F13 Fan anyway. For me it is more important that he is fun to play as and against and that he brings value to the game which is more than just another big licensed name. (And please not another Dashslop Killer)
But I can also see people just saying "This is not Jason!!" when the power is revealed next Tuesday. Obviously we will not know anything until then.

i am kinda in the same boat, not a huge fan, and would rather see an interesting than a super close to source power. In the end í just think Jason was THE ONE killer that just was missing from DbD and needed to be in.
I would love to say they wouldnt make Jason a dashslop but after the Myers rework… 🫠 i am just saying there is enough potential for interesting concepts and it’s never really been limited to just Trapper and nothing else

Well, I might've been a salty sap last night, but now that it's all said and done, HE'S COMING! The Hall of Fame of Horror indeed, Jason and the classic Slasher lineup is complete!
It is a bit said to see F13 still isn't using its own name, but at least the Jason Universe was shown off in a short film instead of just being a nebulous out of context redesign. My biggest hope is cosmetics serve us something more akin to the classic designs. Also, no Tommy is pretty sad, he'd have been a great and unique addition imo, especially to have alongside our other iconic survs, but knowing BHVR they probably tried their best for him.
This chapter is by default one of the most important in DbD history, here's hoping for a great 10th anniversary!

Well they have possibility to get rights to every version of Jason from second movie to the ninth as those are owned by Horror Inc. So that is quite many versions. Still we are most likely never getting Jason X as that one I think is owned by New Line Cinema.
I would also think we are going to get the blighted version of him as I don't think the rights owners would have anything against that. Still would not expect that until next halloween or something.
